I’m publishing a weekly UA-cam video on episodes from the life of Don Bosco, entitled ST JOHN BOSCO by JOE ZAMMIT. In this series I’m narrating events and miracles from the splendid life of Don Bosco. St John Bosco used to perform a miracle almost every day, through the intercession of Mary Help of Christians. From the lives of saints we can learn how to love God more and draw closer to him. Thank you.

      I have been an Evangelical Protestant pastor for 41 years. Contemporary "worship" music has increasingly gotten "me-centered." Essentially it is about "MY" experience of God. I can hardly stand to listen or sing the stuff. I listen to Chant or anything liturgical--other than contemporary Christian pop music. I have even influenced my wife to change her habits. She was a huge fan of the pop genre.

      My husband's voice has a very deep bass (maybe baritone) quality and he is just as tall as the gentleman in the video! It gives me hope that one day he can join the choir because he loves to sing, but choir directors don't know what to do with his voice or have the appropriate music. My poor husband, so willing to participate, but kicked out of choir because of his deep, booming voice that confuses the other choirs members. 😢❤

    • @HickoryDickory86
      @HickoryDickory86 6 місяців тому +1

      It's the curse of many choirs and their choir directors and choice of music: They're often focused on and centered around the female singers and give very little love to the males. And more often than not, they're focused on and centered around the sopranos, and the altos/mezzos just get the short end of the stick.
      When you have a good bass like Rafał or your husband, it's definitely a blessing and should be capitalized upon! I would suggest to the choir director that he or she look to more Eastern European (Serbian, Romanian, Georgian, Russian) hymns. They know how to write incredibly beautiful hymns that make wonderful use of altos/mezzos and basses.
      Granted, I don't know what your and your husband's religious background is, but my suggestion in much easier if you are Orthodox.

      Yes, it's not typical professionally trained classical alto voice, but that makes it in my opinion more natural human, emotional and so pleasant do listen to.

      Tenor also have unusual color,it s rly great they choose to sing for Lord rather than worldly crap, every single peraon here stick to each other here...on great speakers you can fully enjoy,and harmony when girls sings together,beautifull....but my top ever are russian oktavist with master Mikhail Zlatopolsky...lowest bass ever RIP

    A sadness pervades Russian music in general...but even in this sacred piece there is the Russian soul’s tears of sorrow and pain. My heart is humbled by the performers and Sergei Rachmaninov, the great composer.

      But it is a sadness infused by hope and love, a certain sweetness one finds in no other sacred music. I found the same sadness in the eyes of a Russian man, an officer in Berlin. I believe that knew that I wanted more than freindship, but I did not press the freindship. How tender his dark, sad eyes, how sad and sweet the enigmatic smile. Alyosha, always longed for, ever remembered, it is your eyes I see when I hear this.
