The couple at 30.00 in the video were magical.
My only real criticism is that it seems some couples are more focused on packing in "tricks," rather than showing some real chemistry. Some never really found a groove with each other, but just bounced off of each other to perform some solo bit.

All great but my individual winners are Benji, Maxime, Tatiana in no special order.

I know NOTHING abt this awesome culture. The dancers are incredible & fun to watch. Fans / experts of this particular dance lane, please explain why they get to dress casual and the women get to wear comfortable flats… is it simply this dance culture’s attire, like the style of hip hop versus classical ballroom? I’m unfairly comparing the style to Dancing With the Stars. Still enjoyable to watch!
Yes, West Coast Swing is a much more casual style of dancing. In improv competitions, dancers choose comfortable clothes in which they can do any moves easily, including acrobatic ones if they choose so. (It would be impossible in suits / gowns and high heels.) They only dress up when they perform rehearsed routines in big competitions.

Too many comedians, making fun of the really professionally trained dancers because they know there is no way they can compete on their levels. Also, poor choice of dancing apparel.

That was ballroom samba, which is definitely NOT the same as true Brazilian samba. Sooo different.

I too wish the dancers dressed in something less casual. The way they dress, especially the women, makes them look amateurish.
But it's nice to see women performing without showing a lot of skin.
I think it’s great to see women dressing comfortably while dancing fabulously. There’s always all this pressure on women to do the job AND look how others want them to look.

I disagree. I noticed that they weren't all dressed in costume, but the whole thing has such a great vibe and style to it. It looks fun and natural, but yet very accomplished and professional. Some real foot work, hand and arm work.
I haven't seen this style of dancing before. It isn't choreographed. These people are paired up and were given a tough task and then given another song and they make good on it.
There are obviously some general rules and timing and certain grips and other quick communications --- so they don't end up stepping on each other's toes, spinning into each other, dropping one another on the floor, or giving one another other injuries.
They can get into some self-expression, but they stay in sync as a good pair and express as a pair. I really like it. It is very cool looking.
