- In this episode, I'm exploring an abandoned nuclear weapon storage facility that was used during the Cold War era.
I have a passion for documenting abandoned locations and the intention of these videos is to preserve their history and memory for time to come.

THIS IS BASICALLY IN MY BACK yard. very creepy!
This is one hell of a find for one of your first videos...Looking forward to seeing what else you explore!
Thanks man! Excited to get out and adventure some more! Thanks for the support.
Great footage! I will be exploring this later today!
Thank you! Have fun. I just got a drone myself so I'm hoping to get back out there and get some cool footage!
I’m getting it all packed up now. Hopefully we find a quicker way in
Planning a trip there in a month Hella excited
Really cool place! nice video buddy
Thank you! Working on getting better with the editing skills! Haha
Taylor I was stationed there in the early 1980’s we did not store nukes in the bunkers there were no nukes at Cecil. If they are at a base they would be underground and been in a hardened facility
Cool explore of an amazing place
Thank you! It definitely gave off some creepy vibes! haha
That pretty cool thanks for sharing this it's crazy how they just let this stuff go and not use it for other things
I know right? It's nuts! They actually use the whole facility now as a Sheriffs office training course
@@TaylorVanBeek o ok well at least it's being put to use
USN Seabee stationed at Yellow Water weapons depot 1961 to 1962. Cuban missile crisis.
Used to go out there a lot, since I moved back, guess I need to go back out there. The bunkers used to have the doors, while the big building had all it's doors and a bunch of equipment left inside back when we originally spent time out there in 2008. I know a bunch about the area, the history goes back to just before WW2. You can find tons of fired bullets still buried out there from the old ww2 gunnery portion.
I like the hiking shoes lol
Haha not my best choice in shoes for sure!
Good place to go in a Hurricane we have one close to us.
Cool place
Thank you!
"I'm sleeping with my socks on." Good to know. 16:20 "Yellow Water"? Interesting name for a facility. Thanks for another enjoyable video. You have a gift for doing this.
Thanks for watching!
Born and raised westside Jax and we have explored all over out there over the years. There's actual underground bunkers in the woods behind the equestrian center that's there now. The hatch is concreted shut now though. It is super creepy out there.
My friends and I actually hung out there in the big warehouse a lot and even shot some scenes for a horror film! Great times, great memories! In the bunker dirt mounds that stored weapons and such... Inside one of those bunker mounds is a ton of graffiti done by some of my friends! We used to run all over Cecil Field on the weekends! That giant helicopter pad was our cars and trucks playground...lol
In fact, there were no road blocks when we went, so we were able to drive our cars right into the giant warehouse and party! haha
That sounds awesome! Haha
Really enjoyed this video. Me and my hubby checked out Yellow Water Naval Air Gunnery School, behind the Equestrian Center this past weekend, found some still standing buildings, and the training pool. Drove across the street to find the missile facility, but were not positive how to access it. We ended up at a disc golf, and paintball park. I know JSO utilizes the property for training, and supposedly, there are surveillance cameras everywhere, surrounding the bunkers. Was wondering, if you noticed any. Dying to check this place out, but really don't want the $500 trespassing ticket. How did you access it? I assume you parked by the Equestrian Center?
sick find! hope to see this channel grow! keep on keeping on
Thanks for the support! I plan on getting some new content out!
LOL... Spiders? Nope! That last building you passed on your way out was a well pump house that has a huge underground cistern. Provided the water to much of the facility.
Not a fan of them! Haha
Looks like a paint shop.
Well, if you leave the 6.0 idling you’ll get caught!
I worked there. Those were all the buildings that I worked in. I was a nuclear weapons technician in the 90s, and I was stationed there at yellow water
I was born and raised and still live in westside Jax. ❤❤❤❤❤
That thing you called a big furnace is actually an old paint booth. I paint cars at a collision shop and we have two that are very similar.
Dude, I used to live in Jacksonville, Fl myself. And you're doing exactly what I love to do! I'd love to explore some of these places in Jacksonville with you. Of course you'd want to meet in Jackonsville, and we could do that before going exploring.
There is some really cool places in Jacksonville for sure!
I live in Jax I'd love to go to some spots like that. I'm into haunted places and abandoned places like this
@@Sikboiyou wanna meet up sometime and explore?
@@gabrieltaylor5382 I'd love to, I'm currently looking for good places to organize underground raves in north Florida.
Great video, brings back alot of memories, I worked ther as aa Gunners Mate Technician/Weapons Technician between 1985 - 1987, a couple of my friends and I were out smoking, standing on the loading dock of that building while we watched the space shuttle Callenger launch and explode in January of 1986. The building was called the BDU (Bomb Dummy Unit) building and the structure inside with the big stack going to the overhead is the paint booth where a goverment cilvilian (WG rating) would paint the B52, B43, and some of the B61 air drop bomb dummies after we had retrieved them from the Pine Castle Missle Range in central Florida and repaired them. Thanks for the memory
Y’all explore the old gunnery school?
That big furnace looking thing I believe is a paint booth.
Yep that's what someone else told me it was when they used to work there!
We used to drift are cars here back in the day super cool place. I would assume the furnace looking thing was a powder coating booth.
Thats awesome!
Correct. They painted B series nuclear warheads there
Dang, this is incredible! Gotta love some military ruins...looks flat enough that one could bike through it (I'm not by any means fit, and that looks like a LOT of walking).
I really enjoyed your commentary also, you're very entertaining! 👍🙂
Thank you! Still getting better with the editing skills but having fun learning!
I’d like to see some of the footage from the T. rex fight!
I’ll have to wear my go pro next time! Haha
Just checked out some other abandoned stuff across the road by the airport. Didn’t know there was more behind the equestrian center. Heard that jso patrols the area, is that true? Really want to see the bunkers.
What you were looking at in the big building were paint booths
That’s what I thought. Looked just like paint booths to me as well after doing some research.
We stored the B-57 and the B-61 drop weapons. We also refurbished the dented drop dummies that the pilots would practice with. We would have to stand them down and repaint them.
Awesome video, Taylor!!! Me and my family were stationed at/lived on Cecil Field back in the 1980's so this location/your video really got my attention. I'm a huge fan of abandoned places and the fact that it's connected (not in a physical way) to Cecil Field makes it more intriguing because me and my family had lived there. I only found out about the place a few months ago and here I am, sitting at my computer like an idiot trying to "find" the location on Cecil Field when the location is further North. LOL. The location is only 9 miles from my house and I would love to visit it but I am kind of worried about getting arrested so reading articles and watching UA-cam videos about the place will have to do until the location is open to the public.
It's a neat place for sure. Thanks for watching!
I was stationed across the street at NAS Cecil Field 85/88 , We took our motorcycle riding course at Yellowwater , There were watch towers about 50 feet apart all over in the woods with armed Marines with binoculars watching your every move !
Haha shoe check. Bill is former military police so it's great to go to abandoned bases with him. I get the best detailed tour. We've been to a few. The most photogenic was KI Sawyer in the U.P. of Michigan. Do not drink the water. That's a WHOLE thing.
That's cool! I'll have to make my way up to Michigan at some point!
Me and some friends are going there. May I ask the best way to find the other 2 buildings? Will they show up on maps
Asbestos insulation!!!!! Especially around that chimney pipe you saw. That is probably straight up asbestos.
That thing you were calling a furnace is actually a paint spray booth
The big boxes inside the big Building are what is left of Paint Boothes. Same thing they have at your local Car Body Shop 👍
When making the hike through the trail, we’re you using gps to make your way towards the area as well as how did you find the path separate from the trail?
I was using google satellite view to guide my way there. The trails are in the back of a park near this storage place.
That building that you found was where we worked on the bomb dummy units. I used to drive the forklift all over that building
At 10:30 is the special weapons bunker. Nuclear Weps were kept there. Been out many times with former service personnel in the past years. The stories I could tell you
That’s pretty sweet! The place definitely gives off creepy vibes!
I wanna hear the stories!!!
So did you ever think about residual radiation? Bombs leak. Containers leak. Accident happen. Stuff gets old and rust or corrodes.
Is this place still standing and where is at in Jacksonville
Our Marines would stand guard and walk along all the tops of the buildings
Taylor, if your still around Jacksonville let's get together on a few explorations (share locations lol) I'm originally from Detroit, Mi so of course this is in my blood. I moved to Florida a few years ago and have found a few decent locations such as this one. Let me know if interested. Have a great one sir. Subbed, gotta support like minded individuals. Adios.
For sure man. I'd love to swamp some spots! I've got another abandoned school I think I'm going to check out on the north side of Jacksonville this weekend.
@@TaylorVanBeek the girlfriend and I are always trying to check out new places. I hear there's a school that's also got power even though it's abandoned out that way.
where is this place in jax?
Where is this, I love urbexing and want to see it!
Paint Booth 14:45
How can I buy one bunker?
Where is this
Whats day addy fo dis place?
Yo I live right by Cecil normandy rd, I found park with empty roads and parking lot's never knew about to go explore!! Good news free bunker near by.
I made it in with a friend of mine maybe six months ago, we didn't go very far. Supposedly it's a road training area for JSO
That's what I heard also. The trail I took in had no marking or anything of what it was
@@TaylorVanBeek We returned just recently, got into the complex again to view the bunkers close-up, do you know anything about the security? We didn't see anyone either times we had gone, but we were in a rush as a precaution, do you know if there's a way we could take our time like you did? Or do we just have to get lucky?
@@theredneckbuddha2763may I ask where you parked? Was going to check it out tomorrow possibly on bikes.
.
@@theredneckbuddha2763 thanks for the quick reply. So we should be good if we park at the equestrian center and ride bikes from there? Thanks again
paint booth
I rode my scooter around that place and the cop said I was trespassing almost got a ticket
Seen those bunkers
That wasn't a big furnace that was the painting booth
Gators.
It's called Cecil Field, and hardly top secret.
Yes it’s definitely not top secret anymore.
oh there was a day that it was top secret , was stationed at the Marine Barracks back in the 70's patrolled around those egos, (Earth Covered Magazines) a many of times.
@@TaylorVanBeek Never really was. Everyone in the area knows about it.
Nope, not secret at all. They now allow schools to bring their students on-base for field trips.
Just found your 👻
Awesome man! I appreciate the support!
Hey I live in Florida and want to visit this place can u send me a route or something like that because I'm not sure how to get there?
Or more specifically some sort of address
What's a way I can contact you?
Yellow Water Nuclear Weapons Storage Area??
Yup!
One of the worst cities in the United States. Mosquitoes and other things that bite. Reminds me of the roads leading to every correctional institution in the state of Florida.
There are definitely some sketchy areas in Jacksonville but out towards the beaches, I have yet to see any major crime thank goodness! Haha
@@TaylorVanBeek , I was homeless in Jacksonville Beach and there's more crime than you think. The drug use and prostitution are out of control there. It's even worse in the downtown area. I live in Seattle Washington now and I'm doing MUCH better. I just celebrated 18 months clean and sober on the 17th of October and I don't think I could have done that in Jacksonville.
@@seanjames5799 I'm glad you got out of a bad situation! Seattle is a cool place. I'll be out there in January!
@@TaylorVanBeek , I'll be in Omaha Nebraska by the time you get here.
What’s the name of the park.
It's the Taye Brown Regional Park.
I appreciate it, is there a pathway that leads you to the compound from there?
@@TaylorVanBeek I’m at the park now, which way do you head to get there.
What’s the address please?
whats the address? id love to go w my homeboys
