Fighting spurious

  • Fighting noise, spurious #spikes and #self-oscillations is one of the hardest job every electronics geek have to troubleshoot sooner or later. I investigated into some spurious oscillations in my double function generator (that features two independent oscillators), and it went a good occasion to discuss how to spot and curb self-oscillations, and about the stability of operational amplifiers, phase shift in relation to the gain and frequency, and some important considerations about how power supply and signals are carried to the #opamp.

Hey, how's your homemade lathe going? Don't give up! It's looking like one of the best builds on youtube

I don't. I'm waiting for some components for the motor drivers, so in the meantime I'm doing some videos about electronics, even though they seem to attract less views. Cheers.

At 12:26, Fig 106 of the Op Amp datasheet, you can distinguish which line is the Gain line because it is the one that is falling at -20dB/decade.

Yes that was my guess too, but I am used to see curves that are distinguishable in some way (i.e., dot and continuous lines) and having omitted/overlapped the gain and phase don't help too. So that's why I criticized that diagram.
      Thanks for commenting.

@@AccidentalScience I agree with your criticism of the chart layout.
