I LOVED how Pen changed her fangirl behavior towards Colin and started being mature and calling him out. She became truly herself
In the books she tells him off and I wish they kept that in.

I love how grown up Colin and Penelope look this season. They were young in the previous seasons, one-sided puppy love on Penelope's part and simpleminded friendship on Colin's. Now they've grown together, seeing each other in different lights, now colliding into each other in such passion

I felt like old Colin came back when he proposed to Penelope.
They did a great job playing it as friends who are exploring with each other. You can see their desires along with their friendship. It was beautiful.
The thoughts and feeling of his best-friend's hand going through his hair... like some guys, that would make them go feral... so I get it.

he never did anything wrong really, but he could see that it was asking too much to marry her, then leave for 3 years knowing she loved someone else. That would be betrayal waiting to happen. He was also estranged from his family, and Pen really wanted to have a good home environment because hers sucked.
He wasn't bad...But...it's good that she didn't marry him...he was a NO for her.
I love how they all always tell each other everything while saying nothing, and Violet is a master at this game. "I hope that Francesca will find the courage", or "If she's getting a proposal this quick it might be because of your help", which is a very subtle way to tell Colin he's a fool because he's losing Pen.

In the book lw did not actually ruin lives but in the show pen literally causes the bridgerton's sm scandal and other people as well like she literally ruined eloise as well in s2 so there would be no way colin would have actually even proposed or made out with her after he found out she was lw and in the book colin was just jealous

and the way he was sleeping around but with her it was more than that... he was miserable in his mind, because he thought of her like "just friends" but it turned out more and that made him confused but passionate

I’ve read a number of comments saying that the Polin relationship was rushed in part 1 of season 3. While I can always have more shots of Colin suffering and longing after Pen (lol), I think this edit proves that it wasn’t rushed at all, and was the culmination of 2 seasons worth of build up. Really enjoying s3 so far
true. i notice some said that it was rushed. i didn't feel rushed at all. because season 1 and 2 made the build up well already. i don't need to drag it any longer. i think season 3 is the time for them to confess their love now. i wanted more POLIN scenes like interactions because I think the side characters are getting more than intended. but I understand that they need to build up Francesca and Benedict's story now, that's why they are adding their scenes a lot. and atleast give Viscount Anthony and Viscountess Kate Bridgerton to say goodbye scene because they are going on a second honeymoon or just a formal exit. looking forward for part 2 but it's such a long wait.
In reality, of all the couples, it is the one that has had the best construction and evolution throughout these three seasons.

When Colin arrives from his travels, that look towards Penelope says a lot.
I loved how Colinunmasked with his mother about the love between friends and Violet realized that her son was really in love with Penelope. It was extremely tender and painful to see how her mother sees that Penelope is leaving with Lord Debling. She sees his face as if He turned into a child and Penelope's tears left her cold when she saw Colin so close to her, it was more than a statement.
Friends to lovers is my favorite troupe. I'm amazed at how Colin has matured. He's become husband material. I believe he's loved Penelope for years, but didn't realize it until now. He was always nice to her and a good friend. He's the only one who talked to her at parties and even danced with her. He's so in love now and is proud of Penelope. And Penelope has blossomed into a gorgeous young lady. The new color palate suits her so much, and makes her unique beauty stand out. I hope Colin handles the news of her being Whistledown with understanding and dignity. Can't wait to see the second half!

Yes. Loved this too. The exact quote “Can we have the carriage driver to keep driving”….. Colin obviously wanted to continue what they were doing … it was a very sweet line . I laugh everytime i see that scene
I much preferred Colin’s look and demeanor from the previous seasons, but he was improved as he spoke to Pen in the carriage.
I was also very moved when Pen asked for the kiss. She had given up all hope, and it had me in tears.
On second watch, I don’t know why I didn’t recognize that Colin was intentionally putting on this new persona. He told Pen “charm can be taught.” He’s playing a roll that all the men and women around him seem to enjoy. He drops the character during most of his conversations alone with Pen, and he seems more like the Colin of previous seasons. Well done, actors!

I guess everyone felt moved when Penelope asked for a kiss. Like damn gurl😭. I felt her pain and despair and when she said thank you and just walked away, I definitely cried for her😢. It is not the usual jitter feels from the first kiss of other couples from this show, I just felt sad for Penelope cuz you can relate how hard it is for her to be in this society, being overlooked and ignored because of how she looks. All she can ask is a kiss from someone whom she thought will never consider her, but still thankful for being given the favor and walked away.
Also, it's something she could take with her. Making a memory that she can carry with her she thinks through her life as a spinster taking take of her mother. That her first and only kiss was with the man she loved but can never have. Luckily that wasn't the case.
Y'all, this is probably the greatest friends to lovers story in modern Pop Culture.
She is so beautiful, it is so strange that she couldn’t get any suitors. I mean much more beautiful than other married women in the series.
With those colorful dresses that weren't figure flattering, the way Penelope did her hair, and her childlike voice, it made her look like a cute little kid and not a woman. After her makeover and when she became more mature and outspoken/self-confident, her attractiveness as a woman shone through. I thought she became one of the most beautiful women there.
@@rachybaby72 I was going to say the same thing, especially about the fit of her clothes. In earlier seasons she was wearing the super high "waist" empire dresses, that actually hit in the middle of her chest and managed to make her look completely flat chested (which is no small feat!) and childlike. As soon as she starts wearing clothes more flattering for her shape her entire silhouette changes! I just can't get over how stunning she is, in this season in particular. They really had to work to hide it in the earlier seasons

Omg the carriage scene 😂😂😂, I obviously read it in the books and imagined something a little more enclosed and with more privacy and then I saw the scene on Netflix and I was freaking out the whole time because they were getting hot and bothered in the carriage with the little window right next to them and the curtains were open and anyone could’ve seen anything and everything from outside as they were passing by and not to mention the driver and the other guy on the carriage who were probably hearing everything going on in there, there was 0 privacy and even if the curtains had been closed, it’s not like the inside of the carriage is sound proof . I’m not saying I didn’t enjoy the scene but at the same time it was very nerve wrecking to watch while thinking of all the things I just mentioned. When I read the book and imagined the scene, my imagination was more like a very private carriage where no one could look from the outside in and the carriage door had a glass window and not just an open window where everything could be heard even if closed and since the book scene was on a completely different route since they were going from the city to the featherington house, I imagined them passing by less populated neighborhoods and more empty if not empty streets while on the Netflix scene they were on route to Bridgerton house on a very busy night with very busy streets full of people.

I loved how Penelope fell in love with Colin with just a simple and tender kiss, it drove Colin crazy, for the first time I saw a Colin in love, eager for Penelope's attraction and friendship, it was total, the dream was incredible, he was extremely passionate, and then when he is going to take tea With his brothers he talks in different meaningless ways which makes them laugh. It was the best thing to see him as a child seeing Pen as the only thing on his mind was the best feeling.

people saying that their relationship seemed rushed through s3 part 1 should watch this video. they've been CHILDHOOD FRIENDS, colin always seeks her out during social events and probably even more during pen's afternoons in the bridgerton house without her maid/chaperone, which probably gave them even more freedom to talk and cultivate their friendship (hence one of the reasons why she loved these visits so much).
yes, we had the "i'd never dream of courting pelenope" phrase and honestly i think that he was too influenced by these male friends, by how his brothers were womanizers and the whole third child thing going on. he put on a mask of a man that society wanted him to be (even lady whistledown talks about it, c'mon now) and tried his hardest to pretend, but deep inside he truly cared about penelope.
his s*xual encounters with other women were satisfying physically, but they lacked emotional connection!!!! like the one he has with penelope!!!!! and such thing is obvious in the paragraph that penelope reads on his diary. that look he gave her after being back from these travels during s2 screams so, but he probably just thought it was some sort of platonic affection.
they aren't strangers like daphne and simon or kate and anthony. these two exchanged letters for MONTHS once colin was gone, too. he just needed a wake up call, that being their kiss. that's how friends to lovers work! and i eat it up every single time
YES and I love it how the have kept the key moments from the book (Colins wake up moment beeing in the moment Pen asks for a kiss, it's like he is surprised by this direct wish from Pen but then evenmore surprised that he really WANT to kiss her). And from this moment Pen is in his dreams.

Also, one thing I noticed that was subtle was Colin saying "you've seen my family play Pall Mall" when the Pall Mall scene we had in the show Pen wasn't there so it implies she has been invited to stay with them in the country just for fun lol
And since we’ve known Penelope’s been in love with him since they met and seeing that in the previous 2 seasons. they didn’t have to do 2 people starting to fall they only had to show Colin realizing and falling for Penelope

Unlike anthony, as soon as colin realized his feelings for pen are more than friendship he went into action! He's quite sensitive as lady bridgerton said, whatever he feels shows on his face, and he can't feel intimacy if there's not a connection as he has with pen. I loved how confident he was about his feelings and threw himself out there even with the possibility that she'll reject him and choose lord debling
When she said " but colin we're friends.." in the carriage he looked sooo heartbroken and shaken deep my heart hurt... luke Newton is an amazing actor, the subtle details in this acting are fabulous

People saying part 1 was rushed bc the romance part got settled already don’t realize that this means part 2 will be more about pen being lady whistledown, her friendship with eloise, and colin having to deal with pen being lady whistledown when they’re supposedly happy already and are about to get married… there’s still so much more going to happen. Pen and colin’s story started in season 1, it’s only fair not to make pen’s suffering last too long into season 3.
Heard there’s plenty of romance to come between them in episode 5 or 6

So, I was not putting faith on him and Penelope after Anthony and Kate, because they did so well with the plot, chemistry and history that I got a little less excited for the next couple, but when I started to watch, it caught me SO hard that I finished in a few hours and immediately after I was craving for these two. I love them, I'm really excited for the next part and see how they are going to develop more this couple.
