Don McLean, thank you for the most wonderful ballad. It takes a true artist to create such a touching song of tribute to the genius painter who gaze at the night sky and awed by its beauty. Your "Starry Starry Night" paints wonderful colors in my mind just the same as I look at Vincent's painting.
I can truly appreciate Van Gogh and his work. As a person that has suffered from social anxiety disorder and depression since I was 12 and the fact that I didnt even like art till about 2 years ago. Since then Ive recognized its such an amazing form of relief and when I finally do finish a drawing I appreciate it like it's a piece of my life. Ive gotten into acrylic painting and realized how much talent paintings take but all the more makes me want to improve on that as well.
He is probably the most famous painter of modern art in the history of art, and yet he died in dire misery and poverty. Today in 2020 his creations are sold for hundred of millions of dollars throughout the world and he is recognized as a great painter. What an injustice.
Thank you for this tribute. Van Gogh is the artist that turned me on to art and an understanding between artistic genius and mental illness in some cases. I love nearly every piece of his work, having owned a print of "Starry Night" first.
I feel actual love for this man!I wish all buildings, esp schools, could be painted with his themes. The world would be a better place to live.Brighter, happier.I know he made my life more beautiful. So I love Vincent
Last auttumn have the lucky opportunity to see 3 Differents Vincent´s exhibitions. Have no words to express my feelings and emotions in front of his paintings. Is so hard to believe all the problems and huge sadness he went through without money and recognition and now what´s happening with the paintings and the money in art market without think how many artist are living in poverty. Thanks for posting this flame for him.
speechless..! listened to it around 6 times and never get bored from the song and the paintings.. "But I could have told you, Vincent, This world was never meant for one As beautiful as you." Thanks so much, favourited and 5 stars!
I was on his exhibition on 26.10.2008 in gallery Albertino, Vienna. When you see his pictures on your own eyes it is so amazing. It impressed me very much. I was looking at it eyes wide open. I felt my emotion inside me. Vincent Van Gogh was genius. On that day I just fell in love with his paintings.
A great tribute....Vincent was a tortured soul..he inner pain and madness are mainfest is his the intensity of his paintings ...especially his self portraits........RIP Vincent
I have used this video to teach a class of 9 year -olds it was a wonderful way of sparking off discussion about Van Gogh and the type of paintings he made and very child-friendly images. Thank you.
Wow! At the age of 54 you have taught me more about Van Gogh in this remarkable video than I ever learned in an entire life time. Thank you for your sensitive teaching style.
I've been reading "the letters of Vincent van Gogh" and I've started to feel for this man. He was a terrific artist and compassionate person. Everyone always remembers the ear thing when they hear his but he's so much more than that.
What a beautiful video. What a beautiful song... Vincent van Gogh and Don Mclean are both master artists and putting them together like this is wonderful... Thank you very much. 5 stars
j adore !! I Love it.. love the painter and the song.. this world was not made for someone as beautiful as you.. dear Vincent thank you for this video.
Bravo! A dear friend who is gone now introduced me to Van Gogh and many others of the period. I recently saw two of his works in San Francisco. It was a profoundly moving experience. This song was popular when I was a kid and I didn't understand the content. You married the music with the images in a respectful and loving way. Thank you for your efforts.
I love this song it describes vincents art and personality , loved seeing his art in the side shows thanks for showing . Im watching it twice for love it that much . Vincent van gogh is one of my favorite artist .. michelle
I would agree with the folks that said you should see it in person. I always liked his work, but when I saw a self portrait of his at the Met in NYC I was litterally brought to tears.
I love this man. Sometimes I feel like I should've been there, I'd tell him how unique and lovely his works are. How I wish he knows how many people love him and hold him and his works in high esteem today, that many people understands his mind and heart now. It makes me really sad to think that when he's alive, he thought no one will appreciate his work. His heart is so pure, clearly. Its just that he's a deep thinker so he's always troubled, still he's as innocent and naive.♥
Love it! Wonderful presentation! Any of you out there want to hear another version of this song, listen to Don Mclean/Chet Atkins performing 'Vincent.' Worth the effort! Thanks so very much Shaelrion for posting this remarkable presentation. I am glad there is beautiful people out there that still have an appreciation for beautiful and soulful things. Bless you and your Mom. Be well!
I hope wherever you are Vincent..., I hope you know how much we love you and your work. The high esteem we place your paintings, your talent and your genius! Your spirit and legacy will never be lonely. Through your words and brushstrokes, your influence touched so many in the deepest levels of human understanding. The mind that creates and the man that suffers, I too am an artist and I take great comfort in knowing the sun that shines on me is the same one that shined on you long ago. Take care
I really enjoy watching, this kind of videos, withouth a doubt, Van Gogh was one of a kind. He is my favorite painteur of all the times.. Thanks Shaelrion :D
I always heard the song Vincent when I was at my teens.Kinda dont give much attention on what it wanna state. But on that day when somebody told me that it was written/ sung for Vincent van Gogh(at that tym I didnt know him)I became interested and from then on became my obsession. How the song makes me always wanna cry evrytym I heard it. Really, THIS WORLD WAS NEVER REALLY MEANT FOR ONE AS BEAUTIFUL AS VAN GOGH.
Thank you so much for this! I was fortunate enough, many years ago, to have an opportunity to visit the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam - if you are able to, I recommend it highly. Until I saw Vincent's work in person, I would never have believed the difference between the originals and reproductions! Also, it's small enough to see everything and go back to your favorites! That was a BIG plus after the Louvre!!
this song made cry to my best friend in a college class.. i guess why, since i knew the origin of this sing, i can't stop to hear at it... i just love it! it shows how humans we are !
shs´s right, thanks for loving him. the thing is he is lovely!!!! Vincent live in my heart since the first day I saw his paintings, and your sweet song too from now
It is truly interesting how art's been viewed through the ages. In Vincent's time, it had to meet a certain standard and quality in order to be passed off as "art" by the big wigs. Nowadays we live in an age where talent is overlooked and for the most part, oppressed; consequently, the art suffers. But art shouldn't be judged, it should be limitless and unrestrained, because essentially that's where its true power and beauty lies. Beautiful tribute to an amazing, and genuine artist!
Vincent, may your soul be as colorful as the suffering you went through put it all in God's hands and rest eternally. thank you for showing us the inside of your heart, you reflect the souls of future painters, but their will never be one to take your place in our hearts. you decided to show us your prime love for art. and we must never forget. thank you.
I love this song Starry Night by Don McLean. You have made a really good slide show, Shaelrion, lovely work. I am an admirer of van Gogh's art; he was just such an highly intelligent man. Thanks for this!
What a delight to watch, beautiful, charming, emotional and educating too; for me anyway. Lovely song too, I'm learning to play it at the moment. Thankyou :-)
Don McLean was a great singer, song writer. I'm glad he created this song of the greatest painter of all time. Wish you would have included Van Gogh's church painting in the video.
WAW! That is so great! Thank you very much!!! You made the music match the paintings in a very nice way! I'm just reading the book "Lust for Life" by Irving Stone... His life was amazing...
Vincent Van Gogh is Amazing am studying him right now and thought I should check out sum of his other art that arnt in my book ! This upload is great thank you so much and the song is amazing !
Van Gogh's autographically expressive paintings are symbolic of his state of mind. For example,in Starry night Van Gogh was thinking about his own demise. He said that his paintings were his "cries of anguish."
Thank you, don't worry you don't creep me out. As I always say to my friends "I'm not creepy, I'm wonderful!". So was Vincent :) thanks again for the vid!
They couldn't sell his paintings while he was alive because his work was so new and different for the time. We appreciate him so much now because we can compare his work to the hundreds (thousands?) of other artists before and after, and realize that he was so brilliant and was one of a kind. Go see some of his paintings in person. You'll be enthralled.
a year ago someone email this u tube.. colourful, one of the talented painter, appreciated 3 days ago, watched omni threatre narrative life on 'Van Gosh - brush of the genius'. Pozdrawiam:)
Well done, Kotetsu! I am currently preparing my own tribute to this amazing painter, and I am wandering around UA-cam discovering some amazing creative tributes. Peace, Love & Best to your family. My mom too introduced me to "popular culture" many years ago. One for Mom. Best wishes for every success.
Obrigado Vincent
