I LOVE seeing the bugs in your soil when you do the sped up shots. I could watch those little guys all day long. Thanks for another great video Scott!!

Thank you! Loving your videos. Sadly I have only a very small space here in Central Texas but I still want to learn. I got some fabric pots and planted kale, carrots, broccoli, swiss chard, and last spring we plant cherry tomatoes. One day, we'll get more land and plant away. Thank!

Thanks for the tips, Scott! Super helpful for my first year gardening in TX. I’m curious, where did you get the metal cage to keep cats out of your soil? I have a sweet cat who loves to dig! Thank you!

Thanks Sarah! I got the wire barrier at Lowes or Home Depot. It was in the garden department and sold on a roll. It comes in a few dimensions, but since my beds are four feet wide I got that width, and then cut them to length using a pair of heavy duty wire cutters. I also use this material for trellising when I can get away with something lightweight such is the case with beans and cucumbers ua-cam.com/video/GkxyWgzYoT4/v-deo.html

Lmfao...guess cause we lived out in the boonies and had dogs and cats that worked...somehow the cats never bothered the house garden and neither did the dogs...in fact they kept critters away....really well once.trained. I now farm in a small town and down the street is the crazy cat lady...really really promotes wild cats...they are everyplace...but in my fenced area...BUT because it was an old pecan.orchard i got squirrels that are mean as hell...throwing things at us and dogs all the time. Thry eat all my apples plums pears apricots tasting them before they ripen...they take the tomatoes...green and eat half..and i.just got a new.dog that hayes them so much she is OBSESSED and almost.got one...but she wont sleep outside...at all. She will go out to patrol but the squirrels know the door sound and run. Thank god she leaves the possums frogs (poison) and lizards alone..in fact she is afraid of frogs and lizards now that she understands i fear them....(tricked her early in training.. lol) ..anyway..i got cats in my front garden now...wild ones...which should be trapped and spayed...thanks for reminding me..gotta get on that....and now need to find what u.saw in the video

Just watched your video from January about broccoli sides shoots. I'm in zone 6b-7a Pennsylvania and we have a couple 90° days coming up. We have some nice cauliflower and broccoli going I've tied up the cauliflower leaves to protect the heads. I was wondering if this is an effective option for broccoli as well. I lived in Austin in 1975 my freshman year of high school lol. I think I went to Sidney Lanier High School but moved back to Pa the same year.

Hello! It is worth a shot, I think anything like that would help. You could also consider something like a 40% shade cloth for hot spells. I use that extensively throughout the year, even when our winter when temps surge to 85 degrees. Did you experience hot days during the winter in 1975 while you were in Austin? Best wishes!

Yea i made a shade frame i think it was better than letting the sun on them. Now we have a good week to 10 days before we go back into the 90's. I'm positive that we are going to have a spring broccoli and cauliflower harvest this year. We've only been able to get a harvest as a fall crop before. This year we made some hoop frames and put some stuff out early. We 2 months ahead of our normal growing. Don't know why we waited so long to try this kind of stuff, but now i research things and watch videos. Hook um horns lol of course I'm a Penn State fan but the Longhorns are my 2nd team.
