Things aren't going to get better. Even if CC is forced (CA is defying supreme court currently), they'll claim crime went down due to some BS thing they do (to take the credit themselves and avoid admitted CC reduces violence crime). The voters mostly will never learn. They already haven't learned from other states. Let them live in the filth and violence they've enabled.

This is very sad, and really not that surprising given that it's San Francisco where robberies and car break-ins are so common. I hope he recovers fully and gets justice.
I thought SF was safe because of Newsom and Bonta's strict gun laws?? What happened? Why is crime getting worse?
It is as if gun control only affects law abiding citizens from buying a firearm to defend themselves and not criminals who buy guns illegally on the black market so the laws are no deterrent to them.
it has gotten worse, but its still one of the safer major US cities I have lived in. Property crime is pretty bad, but the level of violence/murder going on is nowhere near as bad as other places I have lived.

Believe it or not Sanctuary laws play a huge reason for the ramp up in crime . It is law that goes beyond protection of illegal immigration and it promotes social decay and rule of law. Organized crime and the scourge of foreign narcotics trade. Take a look what is happening here. That area of the City has always been safe day or night.

We really need to re-shape our criminal justice system. This sort of crime is nearly unheard of in places like s/e Asia, because the jails are miserable, and they swiftly execute people. Our expensive system of housing, and thus releasing dangerous offenders must stop! So many businesses shutting down due to crime, and homeless just allowed to camp wherever, and create a nasty mess? The time for change is now!

I used to run the waterfront at night in the 80s with absolutely no incidents. SF certainly has changed.

Why no security cameras in that touristy area? In 2016, a young man was shot dead while playing Pokemon on the park, right above next to this Aquatic Park Cove. That suspected killer was a black man. The case remains unsolved. This location is a block away from touristy Ghirardelli Square. What's so difficult to add security cameras at every intersection? Instead of the planned state funded license plate readers. LP-reader tech doesn't show who is driving the vehicle, or in case the criminals run away on foot. Why is gov stupidity the norm nowadays?
