Nina such a beautiful doll. The secret to the picker is to add just a bit of glue to the tip so that there is a little sticky to have the jewel adhere to. Thank you for sharing . Hugs from California xx
Beautiful art doll Nina, I love her. You are not the only one who has to finish the back of something, I do too! Thanks, I hope you have a wonderful week.
Good morning nina, what a lovely paperdoll, you should create some friends for her. I once used the exact form of dress and connected them, so you could fold it open and seven ladies appeared, I was inspired by lorrie marie jenkins. Found them faces in magazines and created funny hats to match the dresses, so much fun. Can relate to you for making the back nice as well, unless I know I am going to glue something down. I am going outside into the garden now, we are having a warm day, about 24 degrees, nice to do some work in the garden. We really had four seasons in a week, wind, storm, snow, rain, real cold and now a warm day followed by rain again. So better enjoy it. Have a nice sunday nina and a good week, love and hugs lena xxx
Good morning Lena, she’s fun isn’t she. I may well make a few more of these. It’s been very wet here all week, and although the sun is currently shining, more rain is in the way, so no gardening for me today. Temperatures are on the rise thought at last. Enjoy your day in the garden and have a wonderful week. Love and hugs, Nina xxx
Oh Nina, your paper doll is so sweet. The touches of dots on her wings really made them sparkle. I really look forward to seeing how others create their dolls. I’ll make some when I get home. My sticky tool can be a pill sometimes, but usually it works well. No degree needed, maybe just add a bit more presser with the tool and show who’s boss! Have a grand week.
Thanks Cheryl, glad you like her. My picker seemed to have lost its sticky so I followed a suggestion to clean it on a piece of sellotape and glad to say it seems to be working again. I will also try your recommendation of giving it a bit more welly haha 😆. Enjoy the rest of your trip and have a safe journey home ❤️
This is lovely. You have clever ideas and always execute them seamlessly. The flowers you made previously were perfect for this project and are so beautiful. The die face is also beautiful! Love it all! TFS. I did. God bless and stay safe.
Nina I love your designs and I love that you are so picky about putting things together. Now I know I am not the only one. This is so cute. Love it. I believe there is a wax that you use with the gem picker. You dip the tip in the wax and it will pick up the gem. I think that is how it works. But they are great and they do work. Thank you for your time and effort. It's no small feat but it is appreciated. Have a great week.
so, so pretty !!! thank you for sharing !! when I want to change my mind, I come to your channel !! all is so beautiful, so inspiring, so full of love .............thank you so much for that !!
Awww Nina I adore your Butterfly doll.. so pretty .. as always you eye for detail is great .. thank you as always for the inspiration . Have a great week. Kay xx
I use a piece of blu tac to pick up pearls. I roll a little pencil shape and pick up the jewels on the 'sharp' end. It works a treat and I have all the fun of playing with the blu tac too. I like the doll. That's my afternoon taken care of.
Hi, Nina. Love the doll. I usually use the end of my craft knife to apply tiny jewels. Just slip the very point of the knife under the adhesive and pull it off the backing and then lay it down where you want it. I have several different kinds of jewel pickers acquired via kits over the years. The one that works best for me was the very first - and cheapest - one: the Quickpik from We R Memorykeepers. The others seem to get "unsticky" really fast. Have a great week!
Thanks Kathy, the craft knife idea is a good one. I think mine had lost its sticky as someone suggested cleaning it on a piece of sellotape and it now seems to be working again. Not as good as I expected it to be, but hey Ho! Hope you have a great week too 💕
Nina, I watched this on Sunday morning with my coffee in hand but because it was U.S.A. Mother's Day, I didn't have time to comment. But this is just adorable. I do plan to do this one, just have to find the time. She's just so cute!
Many years ago, my mother in law taught me to always "cover your mechanics." I always look at project from all angles, just like you. My 4 year old grand daughter made some lovely painty papers this weekend....hmmm... I think they will show up in a paper doll!
Hi Nina, love the little butterfly girl. I have one of the jewel pickers also, and I find they work best on non-adhesive backed jewels. Have a wonderful day.
By the way, the art doll magazine you sent me was a great inspiration for this weeks challenge. I want to try a scrappy doll next, now that my sewing skills are finally improving 😘
Hi Nina, you are So clever and truly inspiring. Whenever I want to do something totally different, I always go to your tutorials for inspiration, and you never fail. This is beautiful. I simply love everything you do. Enjoy your Sunday. xx
She’s beautiful. Love the items you used to assemble her. I bought a small box of prima flowers when our AC Moore here was going out of business but I haven’t used them or attempted to put them together. I believe I have similar supplies you used except the face. I hope to get time to try to do this collage!
wow! she's cool. this really helps me to try to be more "abstract", particularly with people shapes. your jewel picker was trying hard but since your gems already had adhesive on the back, the jewel picker had a hard time. the jewel picker is great for small bits that don't have adhesive yet, that need to be put on a spot of glue. if you want to use it with adhesive gems, maybe get the gem on your finger first and the jewel picker can take it from there? thank you so much❣️
Thanks for your lovely comment Steph and for the helpful advice regarding the gem picker. I think you are right about the adhesive on the pearls I was using. I’ve also cleaned it with a piece of sellotape and it now appears to be working again 💕
Thank you so much Nina, I really really enjoyed watching you create this gorgeous and stunning paper doll, I really really love ❤️ everything about her. Have you done a video on the flower 🌸 you used. And I’m sure I’ve seen the other one, but, I’ve really get to have a look to see, because I really really love ❤️ that one too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Thanks Mags, I enjoyed making her. Love the weekly challenges as I get to try so many different ideas and your support means the world. Have a wonderful week ❤️ xxxxxx
She's beautiful even on the back too... Loved the back pattern as well.... I've got some new art doll stuff recently, I will get them out and try and get something done.... So busy lately I'm struggling to keep up with my own videos right now xx 😁😁💖
Thanks Elaine, the patterns were condensed images of the wallpaper samples and were perfect for her dress. Look forward to seeing your interpretation if you find time. Happy Creating ❤️ xxxx
Thanks Stacey, I think you are right. It had also lost its sticky (must admit I didn’t expect that to happen as I’ve hardly used it) but after cleaning it on a piece of sellotape (someone else’s suggestion), it’s now working again. Really appreciate all the tips people have shared ❤️
hi Nina.. she is beautiful .... the pick up thing loses it stickiness after a while and you need to rub it along the sticky side of ordinary sticky tape ... it does work well then ..
It's very cute. I don't get the concept of no arms and legs though, never have. Not that they aren't cute, they are. I know, it's just me. Thanks for sharing and all your hard work doing these videos. Much appreciated. 🙃
Thank you. Well I was planning on giving her arms and legs, but I just love her the way she is and didn’t want to spoil her. I may well add some once I’ve decided where I want to her, but in the meantime I figured, you can always add, but its more difficult to get rid of a mistake 💕
Hi Natasha, if you search Studio Light Art by Marlene die cuts, you should find them. Not sure if the set I have is still available as she has released several more since, but they are all gorgeous and along the same lines. I hope that helps 💕
The ladies have it right. Your sweet voice cheers me up.
Awww, thanks so much Brenda 💕
