@@MojaveKnight17 I play Pokemon games to trade and battle other people. Mainline Pokemon games do that better than unofficial works. Not defending brilliant 💩. Hackroms are lonely, isolated experiences that in my opinion completely miss the mark on why I'd want to play Pokemon
I know a lot of people hate on this game, but SP was my girlfriend's first Pokémon game because I knew the old games were the best and I also never directly got to play Gen 4 on release. It made BDSP really special for my girlfriend and I. She's become a huge Pokémon fan, playing almost all the games on Switch, collecting cards and plushies and playing PoGo. Then, Legends: Arceus comes out and that was just mind-blowing for us! I do understand the hate and do ultimately wish we got Platinum remakes, but I still love BDSP.
I really don't like the games difficulty curve. Like the bosses use competitive sets! It wouldn't be an issue if they where post game but no. And i am so sad about the removal of furniture for the underground base and how glitchy it is. And i disagree with the friendship mechanic, you need it for a chance to defeat Cynthia, and this is coming from someone who defeated the elite 4 and champion first try. Why can't they have difficulty modes so it doesn't ruin the game for others and makes it not fun.
It's even worse when you dive into the E4 Pokemon's competitive sets. Flint is using a **banned** set for competitive with a competitive level pokemon; Drifblim. Minimize is banned in competitive pokemon, and Baton Pass is banned on Smogon Singles. Not to mention that: Rapidash has Hypnosis, which is an egg move from Stantler or Glameow, meaning that Brilliant Diamond players cannot make this Rapidash set at all. Infernape has Iron Fist, a Hidden Ability the player can't get without grinding 200 BP at the Battle Tower (Grand Underground Pokemon never have Hidden Abilities), and, not Flint but Bertha, her Golem has Heavy Slam early, a move it can't otherwise have! The league is not only "competitive", but they **cheat** at competitive.
Yeah BDSP are not different enough to justify playing over the originals, especially Platinum unless you’re dealing with multi-game benefits. Had they just faithfully remade Pt with Megas/Z moves/Dmax, even the cheap & less appealing artstyle due to time crunch, jankiness & lack of touchscreen Poktech could have been excused. But noo they gotta sell it as 2 versions
Eh, if the question between playing the originals and BDSP comes up and you can only get one lf them for some reason, BDSP probably wins. Platinum is still the overall goat, but DP really isn't great.
@lpfan4491 I would excuse DP for being the "base games" just like RS, XY,SM...... But BDSP has no excuses. Although I wouldn't blame it for existing bcoz u know remakes should exist. It's just that the missed potential is gigantic. BDSP is literally a documentary on how not to make a game
I bought Brilliant Diamond only. I regret it. But since I already bought it, I played it at ifs fullest. I got the Black Trainer card and I was able to successfully shiny hunt Arceus, Darkrai and Shaymin.
Even the fact that the wifi mystery events were limited time only, if you missed it back then, they still didn’t give everyone who picked up the game later the chance
I am of many out there that can say I’ve never played platinum nor am I going to purchase it from someone off eBay sellers because of fake copies going around. I’ve played BDSP when it came out and yes it did have its problems like you said but I did enjoy playing the game and still to this day do I play it.
The only reason to even bother to have a copy of either of these is for the free mew and jirachi from having saved data from other games, and then the bonus that it Gives to legends Arceus
All I'll say about BDSP is that I had fun playing it when it came out. Then I dropped it after Legends Arceus released, and I played it once or twice after that. And I'm probably not going to pick it up anytime soon.
All they had to do was make it more like Platinum, just keep the version exclusives and add some extra content for the post game, should've been pretty simple but nope lol
My local walmart is selling Shining Pearl for $30. I'd probably buy it for $15 or $20. I just don't see it being worth anymore than that when the originals are so much better. I've still got my original copy of pokemon Diamond for the DS.
Is it still worth buying for $20 used on ebay? Ive played the original and have not played a pokemon since sun and moon lol. I just want to replay my favorite pokemon gen
@ i also have probably about that many hours in the originals and platinum. the swicth games feel like they dont have any life to them imo. legends arceus was fun but had no reason to play after you beat the story.
I played this (Shining pearl) on the Nintendo Switch then after some months after getting it-- for reasons sold my Switch and games... About a month or so later... Have a new Switch and JUST Shining Pearl for it-- missed it! First time where a pokemon game difficulty wise is increased. Megas, Dynamax and so on, keeps it from being overly easy as only maybe 5 or so percent of trainers other than the player use that stuff and they are OP features. Normally the adventure is perhaps too much of a joke. The affection mechanics... Well, if anyone is crying over the lack of megas and such-- they have no place complaining about the affection mechanics, as it works in place of the broken other mechanics like Megas from other games. Also we are in this set of games gone back to single use TMs. Something that was unlimited use items for so long, making so many prior games so much more easier than perhaps they should have been... The op affection mechanics you could say are a compensation for no special and broken transformations in the game and all single use TMs. But you have to do some work up to the affection mechanics even working for any mon, and it's at random, you can't control when you get the benefits-- unlike the benefits from unlimited use TMs and transformation features like Mega Evolution.
Does anyone know if i can take my pokemon out of pokemon home yet? Its been like 4 or 5 years now. I don't play any mainline pokemon game after sword and shield, so if they can be exported out to sword and shield that'd be great
you don't actually have complete the regional dex to get the national dex you only have to have SEEN them. I haven't even attempted the elite 4 and I already have the National dex unlocked.
Bdsp drive me nuts because on paper I think this was definitely the right way to revisit Sinnoh. A faithful remake along with a new entry. Outside of the obvious cut features from both base DP and Plat; which is on a technical level my only real problem with the game, but I think the other big mistake they made was marketing it as something akin to the other remakes; something it was never intended to be. If this was just better than DPPt feature wise, I would have no issues. A lot of the issue however was I think they marketed this like the first 3 remakes which I think was a mistake. Arceus was the main point, not this, this is just an extra and that was not communicated properly at all. I would be all for and would honestly be quite disappointed if we don't get something akin to this for X and Y around the release of Z-A. Or like say we get to a Unova revisit; give us just faithful remakes of both Unova pairs and then a new game. Lastly this is a simple thing; but to me is a massive game changer that hasn't been discussed enough that recent games have dome amazingly imo... you can transfer pokemon back and forth between entries. To me it's just honestly a lot more fun screwing around knowing I can transfer in or out at any time pokemon from swsh or sv.
Also... very much like you can conplete the in game pokedex between the two... that is a very big improvement over Gen 4 which while small, is nothing to sneeze at considering how many entries you needed to buy back in Gen 4.
For instance, alternate world where these games were something like Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl, (to make the distinction these games are what they are-- extras to the revisit, not the revisit) and then released after Legends Arceus, which itself released later so it could be a lot better, I think would've probably led to more sales for Arceus than what it got, since I remember myself my hype for pokemon completely dying with BDSP and I stopped caring about arceus tbh.
BDSP has some of the best shiny hunting possibilities (that aren't too easy) in the series because the new pokeradar is very well done. I loved these games amd still enjoy them but the originals were something I only playthroughed 3 times (one of each D,P &Pt) which is the least of any gen for me so idk... if these were your favourites then maybe I can see them being bad. There are other things I really enjoyed about these remakes and sometimes it feels like people hate them just because other people hate them. For the record my favs are legends arceus HGSS and oras so who am I anyway
I mean it's not like people don't have valid reasons to be critical of the games from the 3DS era and onward. The 3DS era started a number of pretty bad trends. Like lackluster amounts of postgame content and getting less and less exploration in the regions.
I always slept on this game based off all the antihype but after putting some 30 hours into I actually loved it. Brought me back to high school so definitely some nostalgia goggles going on but I had a lot of fun with it(until I had to do the elite 4, 11 times to FINALLY take out that damn garchomp.. wtf is thatttt)
Gen 4 is so forgetable that I basically replayed this as a brand new experience. and even after getting to the Elite 4. I still can't recall a single memorable moment about the game. not the Gym leaders, not the story. only how rediculously HARD the Elite 4 is.
I never owned a Nintendo console, but played the Pokemon games on emulators. With that being said, after buying a Switch and this being the first game I bought, I have to say that I truly LOVED Brilliant Diamond (and I believe I'm the only one hahaha). The game was smooth, the animations were sooooo much better than Pokemon Shield (another amazing game btw), and a hundred times better than Pokemon Violet, which is so buggy, not smooth and a lot of things going on at the same time.

People keep saying "Bdsp is copy & paste!" no tf it ain't, graphics upgraded, underground extremely big upgrade. The pokeradar is harder to use... but it was never easy to begin with. actually they changed features on the pokeradar, but that's "copy and paste?" do ppl even know wtf copy and paste is? Nope. bdsp has better graphics then scarlet, legends and sword. shiny pokemon on bdsp looks the best i've ever seen! some goofy said omega ruby shiny sparkle looks better then bdsp's shiny sparkle..... that's that bandwagen shi i be talkin about! omega ruby pixely asl, with the shiny sparkle of pkmn black nds. pkmn scarlet has so many useless new ugly pokemon! like while playing it i was like 😠 "why tf did i pay 60$ for a scribbled piece of sh💩t pkmn?" sword and shield, half way in i got super bored, i looked for ways to shiny hunt. after hatching at least 300 eggs, mesuda method, i thought "Like what loser took away the pokeradar? this shi is terrible!" and it's so glitchy legends, glitchty. bdsp is your best bet to get, you have good looking pkmn, with unique things, and you hardly get Nostalgia, because alot things has changed on it.
I have 400 hrs in bdsp and played platinum as a kid. The game is basically diamond and perl with better graphics, the underground reworked and you can now complete the pokedex which u couldnt in the original games. Thats it. This video is just complaining about some minor details. I dont care about things like that the d pad is poorly implemented. Because u just notice it in like 2 Segments of the game. If even at all. The game is worth buying if u like pokemon or the 4th gen. Thats it. Theres nothing more to say.
U loved the games? Great! Never understood the fuss? Let me summarize to u why it is disliked BDSP is priced like LGPE,PLA & most Switch games @ 60$ But Artstyle, Cutscenes, Story, Lack of Move tutors, Lack of Gimmicks (Megas/Dmax,Z moves),Lack of E4,Gym upgrades(Visually & internally-the Trainer mons)from Pt, Lack of 2 Poktech buttons like Pt, Lack of Gen 5+ Held items & Lack of Overworld mons "like Base DP"
It's only good in comparison to the originals is the thing. People fairly compare it to the rest of the series, including Platinum and the prior remakes.
As for me, im still playing both of the "worst" Pokémon games ever, aka Pokémon brilliant diamond and shining pearl despite both of them releasing in playable condition on day 1. Lmfao, both of the real Pokémon games that are the worst are both Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. I've been playing the main series Pokémon games since December 25th 2004 and I've played 37 out of the 38 main series Pokémon titles and to this day i will never understand as to why 95% of the Pokémon fan community would rather choose and defend both Scarlet and Violet aka trash games while claiming that the other 36 main series titles as "trash".🙄

So it truly baffled me that folks would go out and spend money on what was clearly a poorly remastered game for a Second time.. with two versions.. instead of Just Pulsating Platinun or something.. during an internet age where GTS is as accessible as using the toilet in your home or Wonder Trade.
I sit in peaceful bliss knowing I haven't put Anymore money into GF/Pokemon Company's pockets since USUM on the 3DS.
As a 'Genwunner' who's Always enjoyed Pokemon mainline games (even the bad ones), my disgust for GF/PC is Hyper Beam levels with no recharge.
If we were Truly fans of the mainline games, we'd refuse to spend our dwindling currencies on such crap that couldn't even compete with Stardew Valley in exploration and fun 😒😔
With respect, I found this video difficult to follow, and had to rewind several times at some parts to understand your points. I think it would be in your interest to work on your scripts a bit more to improve clarity. Cut down on the shorthand. Maybe work on your delivery too, because it seems like you are rattling off each point as quickly as possible with few transitions (or even pauses) into the next point.
the only way to offset BDSP lv grinding is using the Grand Undergroud Hideaway cuz it actually lv curve using SWSH badge logic (IF ONLY THE SURFACE WAS LIKE THAT)
Yes but luminescent platinum is worth downloading
True
No it's not 😂
@@frogfarmer3551 explain...
That mod made me actually play through the game. I couldn't bring myself to finish the vanilla game.
The only reason anyone should EVER consider buying this is if you *REALLY* want a Shiny Arceus, or have a modded Switch.
Upside: BDSP has now become the best platform for modding Pokemon games since Gen 3.
Loved the critiques in this, heard some things no one’s covered before
“platinum is still the superior product” YES IT US
The only reason to even bother to have a copy of either of these is for the free mew and jirachi from having saved data from other games, and then the bonus that it Gives to legends Arceus
All I'll say about BDSP is that I had fun playing it when it came out. Then I dropped it after Legends Arceus released, and I played it once or twice after that. And I'm probably not going to pick it up anytime soon.
"Angry Gay Lisp rips into Worst Pokemon Games" wasn't something I realised I needed but I am here for it
All they had to do was make it more like Platinum, just keep the version exclusives and add some extra content for the post game, should've been pretty simple but nope lol
I just want to replay my favorite pokemon gen
had fun with these games when they came out. lasted maybe 4 hours
and I've played the original slow diamond for 500 hours, you could only get 4 hours out of it lmao!
@ i also have probably about that many hours in the originals and platinum. the swicth games feel like they dont have any life to them imo. legends arceus was fun but had no reason to play after you beat the story.
Hey look, another Skuntank fan!!!
And another here! 🦨
I'VE FINALLY FOUND OTHER SKUNTANK FANS THERE IS A GOD
I don't play any mainline pokemon game after sword and shield, so if they can be exported out to sword and shield that'd be great
They are only if you want to shiny hunt Arceus since it is the only way you can shiny hunt it.
you don't actually have complete the regional dex to get the national dex you only have to have SEEN them. I haven't even attempted the elite 4 and I already have the National dex unlocked.
I'm actually using brilliant diamond to complete my first nuzlocke.
One of the things I like about BDSP is I have a legit shiny Arceus
The only good thing with the bad remake, is the romhacking capabilities.
I am insulted by Nintendo's refusal to discount these titles on black Friday. Fools
Nah, it's a pretty good game.
33:01 What a cringe section from a cringe individual lol
Try Reilluminated Pt, it's leagues better than BDSP
its just worse than platinum though, any 3ds game was way better, the other remakes gave us good expectations, you shouldnt accept slop
@@ThomasOwOD Yeah not gonna lie BDSP's models & background look worse than the 3DS ones
They allow me to shiny hunt arceus so they might be peak
Having multi-game benefits is enough for a game to be peak? Just asking
Only bought a $20 Japanese copy for one reason. Shiny Arceus.
I’m glad that BDSP is bad. It’s payback for how DS-era fans have treated 3DS-era fans for a LONG time :)
I mean it's not like people don't have valid reasons to be critical of the games from the 3DS era and onward. The 3DS era started a number of pretty bad trends. Like lackluster amounts of postgame content and getting less and less exploration in the regions.
@@shouldveusedsafesearch8099 That is no reason to straight up bandwagon against those games for nearly 12 years.
As a collector i had to invest and buy all the games!
Not having a double battle story mode is actually kinda dumb
And IGN still had the nerve to give Brothership A FUCKING 5
Everything else aside WHY can't any pokemon follow you anymore? Were we that spoiled in HGSS
How the hell are people still melding about dexit in 2024
NO MORE DEX CUT IN ALL THE FUTURE POKEMON GAMES!
Need help evolving my graveler and machoke plz no scam
I always slept on this game based off all the antihype but after putting some 30 hours into I actually loved it. Brought me back to high school so definitely some nostalgia goggles going on but I had a lot of fun with it(until I had to do the elite 4, 11 times to FINALLY take out that damn garchomp.. wtf is thatttt)
I’m gonna shiny hunt arceus soon so my copy will get a little more use 😅. I still need to setup the cute charm glitch so I can play diamond again 🤩.
nah, it's worth the buy you're hust being a hater for the clicks.
As someone who never played Diamond or Pearl on the DS because I was too busy Teabagging noobs in Halo 3 I really enjoyed BDSP
The last good pokemon game was 10 years ago
They're only worth buying if you're modding them, and the mods are awesome.
Gen 4 is so forgetable that I basically replayed this as a brand new experience. and even after getting to the Elite 4. I still can't recall a single memorable moment about the game. not the Gym leaders, not the story. only how rediculously HARD the Elite 4 is.
Everyone is complaining about the game while I'm enjoying it so much I already started a new file after getting all level 100 Pokemon on my team.
I'm with you too. I'm tired of people constantly complaining about bdsp like we fucking get the point let me enjoy my game?? 😭
If you want a good Sinnoh game, just play Legends Arceus.
actually, bdsp is the number 1 pkmn game in my opinion.
1. Legends of arceus... garbage! stick to the script!
2. pkmn sword and shield..... terrible! huge miss! too much open field not enough pkmn
3. pkmn let's go..... keep that shi on the cell phones! ahh backwards even making that trash
4. pkmn snap... 😐 who thought it'd be cool to fkin take pictures? wth was it even created for.
5. scarlet violet.... glitches, no POKERADAR????? y are they creating them hideous ah pkmn or adding to pkmn... in a fkin bad way?
6. legends of arceus..... repetitive, boring, no fkin POKERADAR!!!! adding shi that doesn't connect to other pkmn games.
Nope.
bdsp has better graphics then scarlet, legends and sword. shiny pokemon on bdsp looks the best i've ever seen! some goofy said omega ruby shiny sparkle looks better then bdsp's shiny sparkle..... that's that bandwagen shi i be talkin about! omega ruby pixely asl, with the shiny sparkle of pkmn black nds.
pkmn scarlet has so many useless new ugly pokemon! like while playing it i was like 😠 "why tf did i pay 60$ for a scribbled piece of sh💩t pkmn?"
sword and shield, half way in i got super bored, i looked for ways to shiny hunt. after hatching at least 300 eggs, mesuda method, i thought "Like what loser took away the pokeradar? this shi is terrible!"
and it's so glitchy
legends, glitchty.
bdsp is your best bet to get,
you have good looking pkmn, with unique things, and you hardly get Nostalgia, because alot things has changed on it.
These were my very first Pokémon games. I got them the day after they came out. They’re…. Okay I guess. 😬
I loved the diamond and pearl remakes. Never understood the fuss. And I still have my og copies on the DS, but still loved the remakes.
Glad you enjoyed a medriocre lazy copy and paste of D/P.
I envy how easily you find joy.
U loved the games? Great!
Never understood the fuss? Let me summarize to u why it is disliked
BDSP is priced like LGPE,PLA & most Switch games @ 60$
But Artstyle, Cutscenes, Story, Lack of Move tutors, Lack of Gimmicks (Megas/Dmax,Z moves),Lack of E4,Gym upgrades(Visually & internally-the Trainer mons)from Pt, Lack of 2 Poktech buttons like Pt, Lack of Gen 5+ Held items & Lack of Overworld mons "like Base DP"
It's only good in comparison to the originals is the thing. People fairly compare it to the rest of the series, including Platinum and the prior remakes.
@@e94youtube that's a lotta words... To bad I'm not reading them
As for me, im still playing both of the "worst" Pokémon games ever, aka Pokémon brilliant diamond and shining pearl despite both of them releasing in playable condition on day 1.
Sword and shield are way more despised
about the same amount of hate! IMO
Sword & Shield are definitely worse but BDSP will always be the worst in terms of execution if that makes sense.
@@Sacred_Sword oh yeah, so much wasted potential of a dpp remake, look at the concept art 😥
@@TheSalamanderMenace4 I will say this every time. They should've just used Sword & Shield's engine or just chose to not make a remake.
@@Sacred_Sword Not to make a remake? Nah, let them do remakes apart from the Legends games. It's fine. They just need to take more things from 3rd games like HGSS or implement new stuff like ORAS, FRLG, LGPE
