I don't understand why they all make the top part such a light grey. It was never so light; it was a much darker grey that at times was hard to distinguish from the black lower section. Now from S3 on the top part was made a bit lighter but it was still a very dark grey. Greenlight did the same thing but I believe they at least used a slightly darker grey than the HotWheels version. The Greenlight version also has the correct zoomer exhausts and I'm amazed that this HotWheels Elite version doesn't have those as it was a pretty iconic feature imo.
Unfortunately Greenlight didn't include the antennae on top; so you'd have to look around and see if you can find some aftermarket stuff and glue them on yourself. The Greenlight version also can't open the hood but that's of minor concern as it does have the side doors opening; which to me is much more important. It's a shame though that the rear hatch doors on the Greenlight version can't be opened though; as I would love to have had them open and reveal the weapon's locker. Also, if you still have those old Galoob 3.75" action figures then the 1/18th scale version should fit those figures perfectly. So it's kind of a shame that the back doesn't open on Greenlight as then you could store the little weapons.
What I wouldn't give for an 1/18th scale that has the proper color at the top (not this light grey), has all the doors opening (including the hood), plus the zoomer exhausts, and antennae on the roof. Such a shame that with all these models they still weren't able to make the perfect A-Team van; neither Greenlight nor the HotWheels Elite. Ah well, maybe I'm simply asking for too much...

The 4 square little red exhaust/pipe like thingy's on the bottom rear, before the rear wheel arches,ARE MISSING❗🤪
Oh MATTEL,how the hell could you make such an obvious boo-boo❓🤔
Even the 1:64 scale HOT WHEELS "The A-Team" van has 'em!

The side door doesn’t open for that much money that’s out of line! 🙄

For an elite definitely missed the zoomer exhaust pipes on each side while cheaper greenlight got it right. Glad a got greenlight version

But the Greenlight has pretty ugly balloon tires in comparison. Both not perfect.

IMO I think Greenlight has a better overall representation of the van. Just minus the antennas, opening hood and rear hatch doors. Greenlight has a sliding side door, vs the rear hatch doors on the Hot Wheels version. The exhaust is incorrect on the Hot Wheels version while Greenlight's is correct.

The one made by Greenlight is better. The side door opens, it has the square exhaust tips and the gray above the red stripe is darker. It’s overall more accurate to the van from the tv series than this one!

@@stevebellmore909 I know, I hope to get it soon. It's a shame HW couldn't build in the sliding door, it's a rather large thing to leave out.

greenlight models are better than hot wheels, for instance this a team van does not have a cover for the sun roof

I bought the 1:18 van about 15 years ago but not the elite mine was the standard version which missed details like the antenna, does anybody know where i can purchase just the correct style antenna from?

Should come with a M.T figure

    • @DanakarEndeel
      @DanakarEndeel Рік тому

A real shame that the only figures we have (that fit in the 1/18 version) are those ugly Galoob figures where they just put the heads onto generic General Patch bodies. The larger figures at least had actual clothing from the series but the 3.75" also had horrible colors. You'd almost want to open them up and put the heads of the A-Team figures onto regular General Patch bodies so they would at least be wearing green army fatigues. 😅
I wish some company would be willing to make a new set of 3.75" A-Team figures but I guess there's just no profit in it for them. Like I'd love it if Hasbro would have made some kind of Vintage collection of all the A-Team figures, with Amy Allen, Tawnia Baker, Col. Decker, Military Police, and maybe some bad guys from the series; just like they do for all that Star Wars stuff. I'd love to have an A-Team van in a display case surrounded by 3.75" action figures LOL!

Yes the gray top is accurate but in the series the gray over the black was much more subtle, not as light as this

Robert DiNunzio Actually the van on the show is grey above the red stripe. Keep in mind that the cameras used to film the show and the t.v.s back in the early 80’s wasn’t the greatest so the van may have appeared as all black, but I have the entire series on DVD and I’ve recently watched the show and the van is in fact a dark grey above the red stripe throughout the series and it doesn’t change. The toys back then were painted all black with a red stripe, but the toy companies may have done that just to save money on paint. There used to be clips of the show on UA-cam that proved what I’m saying is true, but the clips are no longer there. Buy the dvds and you’ll see what I mean. 😊

    • @DanakarEndeel

The top half wasn't all black. The van was a two-tone color. From S3 onwards the effect became more pronounced. However, I'm currently rewatching the series (I'm on S3 atm) and you're right that it was never THAT light grey. It was a much darker grey that appeared to be almost black depending on how the light hit it.
So I find it very peculiar how HotWheels went with this very light grey color while Greenlight did use a slightly darker (gunmetal?) grey but it is still too light imo. So I fear the only way to get a true screen-accurate version is to tape it off and then paint it with a proper dark grey (and hope it doesn't get messed up).
It was grey above the red line, but not this light grey like the see on this model. It was much darker.

@@stevebellmore909 Hi Steve, you're probably right about the film quality back in the day and I have an A-Team vehicle toy set and like you say, the van is all black w/red stripe. I even searched on google for a activity book from 83' and on the cover there is a picture of the van, I was surprised to see the greyish top half. I'm still not convinced LOL! Really feels like I'm living in an alternate universe or something. I'm sure if I check out the show on dvd or even vhs it will be different than I remember.

@@DanakarEndeel Hey Danakar, the lighting probably has something to do with how it appears to the eye and the Hotwheels and Greenlight tints do differ! I'm currently looking for the Galoob version as that is all black but it's very hard to find especially in decent shape. I'll have to watch a few episodes again myself but consensus of opinion is that the van was of a grey color on top perhaps lighter S3 and on. Either way, it's still a cool van no matter how you look at it.
