    This tool was made to work with a power hone or you can use a diamond stone on a piece of wood like Lindsay Engraving & Tools sells. It is sized to be used with the grinding surface of the lap 1/2" high so that it results in a long taper rather than a blunt thick one.
    However, you can adjust the taper by stacking something under the template for it to ride on which will of course change the angle of the grind, experiment and grind to taste.

    This is designed to re-shape and sharpen used 1/16th" dental burrs or you can buy 1/16" micrograin carbide rod from MSC, and break off a piece the length you need. That P/N is

    It is used for removing background metal more efficiently on hand engraved items, that was the purpose I made it for anyway, Put it in an NSK dental hand piece and it just erases metal with no effort.
