Who's Factory do you want us to visit next"? Since starting Produce Like A Pro we’ve been blessed to be able to lift the curtain many times and go behind the scenes to see how some of the world’s greatest recording equipment manufacturers make their wares. Once again we are privileged to go to one of the world’s leading speaker manufacturers PMC to see one of their manufacturing plants and worldwide headquarters.

I have had my two-two 6's since 2017. I still love them, maybe even more than when I got them. So many artists and other producers heard mine and before I knew it, got their own PMC's. PMC's tell me what I need to know, which is what I want. I do have 6-2 envy but I am already blessed with the two-two 6's.

like the story here, how they seen a notch in the industry and decided to feel it. Found this to be very informative. And I like the tour. but I found it strange that they do the referencing in the open warehouse, as oppose to using it in a reference monitor room. But I quess if they sound great in an open air warehouse they will sound good anywhere. like the guy who you went to for this review he really seem to know a lot about his product's but I guess this come from growing up in the environment and working with the product.. will take. listen to pmc, very soon thanks warren

It was interesting to see the room of old speakers, seeing a pair of old Kef there possibly original 105? Their 107 could go down to 18hz, the old IMF/TDL transmission lines also that produced some nice undistorted LF.
To this day PMC BB5/XB5 active with Bryston has been one of my favorite systems to have had the pleasure of hearing, sadly the space requiired for a pair of BB5 is rather daunting. I remember a demo held by the founders of PMC with BB5's and Bryston, where the discussion was on how Yello and Kraftwerk ended up with PMC, and with some uncompressed recordings of studio work and drum kits, it was one hell of an experience, I think I was the only guy there who noted a slight issue with the right midrange, which ATC themselves stated I was correct in noting, and that it would be getting serviced.
Both PMC and ATC three way monitors with those dome mid ranges are I feel some of the best monitors out there, though PMC do dig a little deeper into the low end. Seeing the same factory visit with ATC would be nice.
As someone who loves low frequency reproduction, and has loved coupled cavity and transmission line bass through the 90's, PMC with those big Volt drivers just keep turning my head.

Hi thank you very much for this extremely fascinating and educational tour at a primary brand factory
I am sure those domes are really something exceptional But i have a general adversion for doping membranes
I know they are extremely useful Still i think that an effort should be done to end with a material not needing doping
Easier to say than to do i know

@@Producelikeapro I allso was a owner of a Bag End Crystal series. And I have been doing experiments in 5.1 mixing. The Bag End Crystal series comes with a ELF (or nowadays INFRA) active equaliser. With heavy amplifiers special speakers (Bag End branded Eminence infra speakers) speakers (18 inch) are pushed beond their resonance factor. This means that it can reproduce (flat) sounds down to 8 hz. Not really useful in a house (the length of that soundwave does not fit in a house). But it gives so much room in the low end to mix. And in a 5.1. space it gives you an incredible sound. I hope I once will (again) be able to do live 5.1 mixes with a dedicated band to apply several sound effects during their show.

Warren, you should interview legendary studio designer Eddie Veale, just down the road from PMC. He Designed and built John Lennons studio at Tittenhurst Park for the Imagine recordings, then George Harrisons studio at Friar Park, Roundhouse Studios for Jerry Bron, The Mill for Producer Gus Dudgeon, Trident Studios, Designed and built a professional recording studio for Alvin Lee at Hook End Manor, Designed the first professional recording studio on The Grand Cru barge for Pete Townshend, Little Haylings for Mike Oldfield, Genetic recording studio for producer Martin Rushent, Sarm West Studios for Trevor Horn, Rebuilt Hook End Manor when Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley bought it to become Westside Studios, Pioneered the first ‘presenter driven’ radio station for Beacon Radio and subsequently almost every radio station in the UK, the list goes on and on, would be an interesting chat :)

Why is this better than a well damped sealed enclosure ? Obviously you are using the energy from the back of the cone which is one cycle behind the front at the pipe resonant frequency. What does the step response look like ? Surely with the stored energy its group delay response must be inferior to a sealed enclosure !!

Didn't learn much, but a good advert for PMC. A physicist friend and I built a set of full size transmission-line speakers back in the 80s. I was laughing when he began explaining the concept to you because I know he only just scratched the surface of one objective. He could have spent the day teaching you the principles of the transmission-line enclosure.
