Cracking up hard over the discovery of the R2R equipment. I appreciate your humble attitude regarding knowledge of equipment in vintage electronics.Enjoy the journey! It's fun!
It's a Reel to Reel tape player. It was replaced by the cassette player and later the DVD player. The Reel to Reel was a top of the line audio tape player. Sony, Akai and Pioneer made some very good models.
Looking for where the picture comes out of the audio open reel recorder had me rolling on the ground!!! Okay I'm 20 years older than you and my 20 year old son and 18 year old daughter know what they are but then again they grew up in my house! I guess that it's not fair to find it funny, all that vintage equipment used to be new once and it was everywhere! Hifi used to mean something once apon a time... Somehow humanity has lost something special! Today we have a mobile phone with one crappy speaker! We have litterely gone back to how it all started! Eventually someone will rediscover what high quality 2 channel audio equipment can do for the soul! Until you have sat down and just listened to your favourite music on an old hifi system, you will never understand what it was all about! Oh and that video camera isn't from the 70's, it's high definition 1080 video, I know because my 20 year old son got one of those, those things were pretty expensive when new! Not the sort of thing the average person would purchase, they were aimed at the semi professional video market... But that is one amazing place! Every country should have something like that! Just don't get that grossly! It will destroy your records! I believe that it's a British brand though don't quote me, I could be wrong.
Plenty of comments on here about the reel-to-reel tape recorder, so I won’t labour the point. However, I would suggest going back and buying it - they genuinely do cost a small fortune if you try to buy them on eBay. Revox is certainly one of the top makes. They’ve seen a bit of a revival, but particularly amongst audiophiles (the tape is larger than audio cassettes and the quality of reproduction superior). Check out Techmoan’s channel here on UA-cam - he did a nice explainer about reel-to-reel which was entitled something like ‘the most expensive format’.
Are you living under a rock or something !? you must be the only human being that didn't heard about crosley seriously man you are a tech review Channel And you don't even know what is a reel to reel machine is seriously I'm just blown away 🤯 Sorry I didn't mean to be rude but I'm just shocked !!! 😐
Cool market! Don´t misunderstand me, I honour what you do and like, but I have the feeling you can not decide between cheap electronics and really good High End equipment. Revox is the HOLY GRAIL Brand for reel to reel recording and playback, used in music studios all around the world. There is a good chance that you know a lot of music, originally master recorded on German REVOX reel to reel tape. When you read" Re-recorded from original Master Tapes"- theese reels are ment, recorded in a studio. There is no better quality than reel to reel! The next historical step in developement was the (today better known) smaller cassette deck, more useful for the average consumer at home. In general, it works the same way/principle. Also in cassette decks, REVOX B215 is the Holy Grail next to machines like the Nakamichi Dragon etc. Sorry for my bad English, Greetings from Germany.
Hi there! just subscribed to your channel! Im planning to go to seoul soon! do you know where else i could go to purchase retro digital camcorders?? (: thnk you!!
5:50 Both are microphones. On the right (from your perspective) is a stereo field mic, whereas the one on the left is a shotgun mic, that allows recording more remote sound, eliminating sounds from the sides.
Video Cam unit at 5:42 is by no means from the 70s, that's from the 90s at the earliest up to 2000s, it uses DV tape. Both things you pointed to are both microphones. The Canon lens is "red strip" the best "glass" on the planet at the time. That unit prob went for about 20Gs..
at 2:34, right above the Technics tape deck is SAE receiver, short for Scientific Audio Engineering, legendary brand in the 70s/early 80s out of the United States, spun out of a military company. They were famous for their "Parametric Equalizer", a monster, look it up. Also their Amps were legend. An "SAE Rack System" was the dream for many.
Hey Tom when he wanted to that store he thought it was a movie projector it's a real to real tape deck you put wheels on it to record and playback music Tom I would love to come over there to the country to buy some sound equipment at the flea market I love electronic stuff keep up the good work Ricky Bruce
Those Revox recorders and amps, Quad 606... damn thats like the holy grail in audio. I sell those fully refurbished for 500 to 1000 euro's each here in the Netherlands. They are mostly from the 70's but they are extremely wanted these days. There is a small fortune on that market. BTW that Canon camera is not from the '70 but from the early 2000's.
Greetings from India. Gone through 3 episodes of yours Seoul Vintage electronics market but didn't find a single VCR or VHS product has it gone out of world? I still use VCR to convert old VHS recordings into digital media. Thanks once again for those marvellous videos.
The Starway Flea Market in my east coast town was very interesting but only had a fraction of the electronics you show. I did not see any eight track. There must have been some in all that --- kind of overwhelming.
Hi sir, thank you for a very helpful video.please give me the idea ,how can I purchase a used turntable record player and vinyl records.how can I import in india an used record player from Seoul ,south korea??
That revox reel to reel tape deck would cost a fortune in UK , When they came out it was equivalent of hi Res audio today and you'd need to take a mortgage out to get one .
I love the "You suck" on one of the closed booth roll-down gates. It was in English! Since he's only 30-years-old, he wouldn't know what a reel to reel tape deck was. Those decks would go for good money in the US, even if they needed repair. In South Korea, do they broadcast digital signals over-the-air so that those old tvs would need analog to digital converters?
On 2:36: just under the Techics there is a Quad 606, Quad 34 & FM4 tuner. That combo sounds amazing. If you ever see one again..... buy it. You will be surprised. It doesn't look sexy but the sound......👌🏻 Here in Belgium, easily between 700€ & 1000€ for that set.
Those are reel to reel music players! Believe or not they sound amazing! Better than cassette tapes i must said! I own a PHILIPS n4520 reel to reel player recorder!!
1:45 that’s a reel to reel, they where invented in the 1930s and where sold commercially from the early 1940s to early 1980s (at least in the U.S. where they where most popular, in Britain they where seen as a rich mans toy and weren’t as popular). They serve the same purpose as a cassette player only these use reels of magnetic tape instead of cassettes.....
My friend Crowley originally was a us radio maker , what you would call Gigi, that was over 50 years ago. But now they are back but it's all new kids type stuff made in China. Like Simon spanswick formerly of the bbc once wrote me in a letter- I do hope this is of help.

Looks at a vintage reel to reel. "I think these are for watching films on" Oh my God is that funny. And sad because now I feel about a hundred years old.

@@feelingretro5154 I do have some old 16 MM projectors that have the reels, some of the brands of them were Eiki, Kodak and another brand that I dont remember off hand. I did have a Reel to Reel recorder years ago and it had Valves in it.
Oh man...I appreciate your friendly honesty but it's evident you know very little about electronics and the various storied brands you can't identify. The thing that got me was you thinking a reel-to-reel tape player is a projector!
Nice videos man, but you know nothing about vintage electronics. You ignored there a lot of rare stereos or music équipements... You must get more informations about that , if you continue to do videos like that... Wish you good luck, and escuse me for this coment....

Those Reel to Reel tape decks are for recording and playing music, as Alex Mit mentioned. I have a 4 of those in my collection.

The Revox was a German built reel to reel tape recorder. Very nice machine....
