That's rad and all... but really, we really can't pretend that logo isn't weak. Not even comparing it to the old cross either. Simply uninspired.
Try a design contest or something if it can't come from within the company. Maybe going with the abbreviation, "Indy" could be a new direction for a logo instead of trying to fit all the letters in. People rarely say the full name anyway.
Also, the "if it ain't broke" formula is fine, and the stage 11 is honestly great... but please revamp the Mids. They are heavier than the taller Stage 11s, and they don't feel that "Indy."

A symbol is more universal than font anyways. Everyone recognized the indy cross. Imagine if McDonald's took away the giant M arches at their restaurants...???
