I remember when the tour started and we saw her on stage for the first time I saw a couple comments stating oh "they are forcing Blue to perform", which I thought was ridiculous on the face of it. Because anyone that knows anything of Bey and Jay's relationship with Blue would know that they would never force her to do anything.
This was the same little girl that shushed her parents at an award show when she thought that they were clapping at an inappropriate time and according to Jay she once told him "Dad I did not like the way you just spoke to me, it hurt my feelings". This is not a child that is afraid to state her feelings or opinions to her parents, they are raising an intelligent and assertive young lady. So I always knew that the ONLY reason Blue was on that stage was because she truly wanted to be and Jay confirmed it, 0:34.

I enjoyed the interview. You get a glimpse of his perspective and the volume of his creativity.
I knew Beyoncé loved the color blue but I had wondered why they settled on that name. To learn they’d been calling her blueberry from the sonogram was heartwarming.

I’d like to further explain, regarding the hair comments that Jay Z alluded to. I agree that Beyoncé and Jay Z definitely maintain a private lifestyle and shield and shelter their children to the fullest extent that they can. But no one is really immune to the internet and online criticism. I’m sure that the comments made and stories shared in the press still reached Bey and Jay, and also, Blue. Blue is at an age now where the internet is fully accessible by her, and it’s more than possible she’s seen and read things people have said about her hair as a young child. So what Jay Z said makes complete sense to me and kind of confirms that as protective as they are of their children, even they are fully aware of the scrutiny hurdled their way.

Yep exactly my thoughts. And we have known that family has seen those comments because Beyonce had referenced it in her songs. Like formation, "I like my baby's hair with baby hair and afros" was a direct response to the criticism on Blue's hair.

I love how Gayle King is going back and forth against trying to tell her opinion about a father’s factual assessment about an event that intimately impacted his daughter.

We had very little access to her but she had full access to us. You must consider babies enter the world now with electronic and technological savvy enjoying and becoming more proficient than even their parents with cellphones, iPads, and laptops. Even if she couldn’t grasp fully the significance of what was going on she had to be aware of the noise and conversations regarding her and her family especially at school amongst her peers.

I remember the scrutiny Blue Ivy got from the public because of the way her hair looked ...which was sad because she just a baby ..nor was it her fault ..people can be so cruel ..But Blue is a beautiful talented girl with an amazing future ahead of her 💙💙

Black people need to learn to love themselves first then they will love their natural hair.Thats the hair they are born with. So no surprise they will target a child that's a reflection of what they loathe because of self hate. Bey and Jay Z love themselves Yes beyonce wears her weaves but she's guiding her daughter to love natural or at least braids.

Of course she knows people were talking about her hair as a baby. She's Black. Her mother is Black. We are judged by our hair. I'm sure Beyonce has talked to her about hair and all of that. Plus, those negative things that were said about her are still online. All she has to do is Google herself to know.

OMG! I've never, ever danced and song during an entire movie! Best time ever! Amazingly powerful. Oh, the talent. Now I see why there's are haters, click baiters, trolls, and clout chasers. She is soo underrated by the networks. Glad Swift shut that ish down. Blue, you dance on those haters. Going to see the movie again. Queen Beyonce = slated it. Period! Thank God I'm a free thinker.❤❤🤗

Gayle might've also just simply felt that Blue did so well, even though there was an obvious improvement from the first performance, that Blue couldn't have been that nervous. Continuing to go out, night after night. I know she didn't do ALL the shows, but she did MOST of them. And just wanting to do it in the first place. I don't think Gayle was saying it in a way that she felt she knew Blue better than her own father knew her.
