Everything The Warning does is pure gold! They never cease to amaze me!
Funny story that Paulina just told. They were in New Jersey for three months with producer David Bendeth, recording their album. Dany and David recorded the singing part of this song and they both liked it. Paulina listened to it and told Dany that she was singing Spanish with an American accent and needed to redo it. Dany spent the next day speaking only Spanish and gave it another try, which Paulina found acceptable.
Yea that was a cool insight, they are their own harshest critics. Good thing they are sisters and can just say what's on their minds to each other. Then get that high 5 at the end of the day.
@@gill2105 Pau commented that the whole thing could of fallen apart if the three of them were not sisters.
Dany mentioned that David thought the first recording was great, but she had exactly the same reaction as Pau.
They have had bad experiences in the past -- not here -- with producers wanting them to change their music in ways that they didn't agree with. They have no objections, however, to being pushed hard to achieve excellence, and they do plenty of that themselves.
It wasn't Pau ordering Dany what to do, they both to thought it needed to be redone immediately.
I LOVE the slo-motion.... It's in time with the music! The had to record it playing faster! These women are AMAZING!!!!
The Warning don't write song that are all flowery bubble gum pop music. They are not necessarily a metal band, they take aspects of metal, hard rock, k pop, j rock and classical orchestrated music and blend it into a hard rock sound.
I agree with you that Dany’s voice has matured and become more polished over the past couple of years. You’re pretty much on point about the message. In idiomatic Mexican Spanish, martyrdom also refers to inner torment or suffering, and not necessarily dying for a cause. These young ladies have been writing very meaningful lyrics since they were very young. Enjoyed your reaction and analysis, and look forward to your review of their new version of Enter Sandman. 👍😎
They just seem to get better and better across the board.. Their song writing ability is well beyond their years.. Few so young write such great music. Not since the 70's / 80's have I seen a band that can continuously release songs that make a point & that I want to hear more than once.
This song basically states that we as individuals need to be responsible for our actions and our lives, and not be drawn down into the abyss of feeling
sorry for ourselves. We need to learn from the trials and sacrifices of those who came before us and become resilient to the evils of the world around us. It's all about GRIT and having a growth mindset as opposed to a fixed mindset which in the end can lead to self destruction.
This was a great reaction, I love how the band doesn't shy away from the dark lyrics they've been doing that for a while now and as you say it's so cool and refreshing to see it been done by women, specially very talented women, subbed and thanks 🤘

Dany is lights out every time ..she’s amazing and this band is tops the talent chart in every way .
An excellent an insightful reaction as always! Dany (Daniela, the guitar player) is the main singer, and is usually the main singer in about 75% of their songs. She has been working hard on her vocals, and it really shows. I've always thought that her vocals have been underappreciated, and lately she has taken her singing to a new level. She has never been given proper credit in my opinion. In fact, it's telling on a subconscious level that the video was shot by the director in such a way so as to be ambiguous as to who the main singer even is. They actually started shooting this in the Mexican desert at 4 am and continued until 11 pm for the right lighting in the shots.
Hauntingly beautiful, I love this song.
Interesting review, I like the technical details. A fun fact is that their mum is also in the Martirio video in a number of scenes. Mum also helped with making the Martirio lyrics more traditional and fluent, because when first written Martirio used a lot of "young person" Spanish slang.
They have been working with a vocal coach for a few years, so they are the perfect poster child of why even though you have natural talent, that working with a competent coach will elevate that talent to a whole new level.
Neil Peart of Rush was still taking drum lessons towards the end of his career, despite being one of the greatest ever drummers!
I know from comments I have seen elsewhere that I am in a small minority among TWA, but this song is my favorite on the new EP. The Warning have a real flair for the dramatic in their compositions, and this one is maximized. The music is so dramatic and epic sounding that I imagine it as a sound track for a huge heroic movie scene.

I prefer Narcisista over Martirio, but this song will become epic when the fans start chanting those ohh ohh ohh, I think it will be a very emotional experience, definitely this song is made for a stadium.

"Animosity" is about boys or a boy we think.....Pau mentioned in the last Instagram live that the new song Animosity was about the way she felt about a certain person (ie wanted to kill them).

I think The Warning has gotten the message through that their videos should not be blocked.
Thanks for your reaction to this much beloved band. I see this song and video as The Warning at the height of their powers, at this point and time. They will surely soar higher yet, but this shows the band at their very best: vocally, instrumentally and visually. It is a showcase for what they are capable of.
The Warnings family approach isn't the typical arrangement were the parents are controlling what he girls do, it's quite the opposite the parents are mostly supporting the girls. The girls were allowed to grow at their own pace and choose the path they were most comfortable.
I can't wait for you to get to Disciple and see both Paulina and Daniela trading off on the vocals. They have written and recorded 39 songs and not one is fluffy poppy.
I am so glad the parents stay involved. The sisters seem very strong individually and as a group and I don't think they will get exploited but having the parents involved will make it nearly impossible to exploit them.
They haven't hesitated to say no to their parents when they've disagreed on artistic matters! Everything to the name of the band to lengthening Dull Knives to whether they even should have done Copper Bullets (on grounds of age appropriateness). They have given up their careers (Luis as an engineer, Mony as a dentist) to essentially be employees of their daughters' band.
They've actually recorded 45 of course, but there are 6 more yet to be released.
Well I don't think the parents introducing hard Rock, bands like Metallica to them since they were literally children says that their intention was for their daughters to be all nice and clean with their writing.
@@MrEdwar084 Um... what!?! The parents didn't have any intention on influencing any style of writing. They only made sure that the girls got the training and support they need to make their dreams come true... The mother actually wanted them to name the band The Peppermints and have a more pop sound thankfully they stood their ground and are what they are today...
@@MaddogJones I didn't say they influenced them to write a certain way, what I meant is they let them listen to many types of music and including hard rock which can have dark lyrics, so in a way I believe helped their open minded upbringing when it comes to music.

Oh, very definitely not a fluffy pop song! They actually enjoy listening to quite a lot of pop, but it's not what they want to write. They aren't really a metal band per se; they consider themselves a rock band, but they played at a metal festival in Mexico several years ago and were very well received. Their lyrics are extremely dark, but as you note, they do leave enough ambiguity for people to have their own interpretations.
They jointly did Enter Sandman with Alessia Cara for the Metallica Blacklist album (53 covers in toto of the songs on the Metallica Black Album by a wide variety of artists to celebrate the 30th anniversary of that album). It's a unique interpretation of the song, entirely different from any of the other Enter Sandman covers, 6 in all. As you might find that of interest vocally, I won't say a lot more about it, other than that they did start it as pop for Cara and then rockified it and very definitely paid homage to the original. At least the large majority of The Warning Army consider it brilliant, and most Metallica fans who speak up also like it, although there is a bit of controversy because not everyone likes it changed as much as they did.
This one has become my favorite of all.. it's just gorgeous!!!

One of the producers is named Rudy Joffroy. He was a Preacher man on the The Warning's song from *Queen of the Murder Scene* album *Dust to Dust.* He also directed both The Warning's *Enter Sandman* w/ Alessia Cara & *Evolve* music videos.
But Rudy Joffroy's daytime job is being *The Warning''s Manager.* So yeah. It's a family affair..

Rudy has experience as a film producer, remember that he was an extra in the Titanic movie.
Pau said that Rudy has many contacts and that is the reason why they could make many music videos without spending too much.
Rudy is also now considered like family. He’s been there from almost the start and he is a manager yes, but mostly a close friend

7 months down the road...this wasn't my favorite from Mayday, but I found it to be a thrilling experience live. Evolve is more my style, but in concert this was transcendent.
The great thing about The Warning is that every song is epic. It took me a while to find the video for this song, but it's easily their most epic of efforts. The music, the visuals, and the performance just press this whole piece together in a tremendously powerful song and video. Lyrically, they write from the dark side a lot. I think that may be why their appeal comes too easily. And Dani's nod to David Gilmour was awesome.

I agree that Dany has developed her voice as they all seem to improve nearly every time I see something newer iof theirs but I wonder if part of Dany’s voice difference is that her mouth is more comfortable shaping her language instead of a learned 2nd language. Just a thought.

This is their most emotional song and Dany's voice is particularly gorgeous singing in her natural language, isn't it? I don't speak Spanish but if they performed 100% in Spanish I wouldn't mind. Indeed, I think they'd make a fortune by redoing all of their hits with Spanish lyrics. The Warning Army would buy it and it'd sell like gangbusters in Latin America. BTW, as for the family aspect, their dad is a musician and owns a recording studio and their mother is a dentist. However, I think they are probably full-time running interference for their girls now.
Their father is not a musician, he is an engineer but has some experience in recording studios. The father and mother love rock music. The girls have said so.

Well, it’s not metal so much as it’s hard rock from before metal which is very satisfying. The Warning brings me back to Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and more than that the power trios of the late 60s and early 70s, like Grand Funk Railroad and Cream. I hope that as Dani’s guitar chops develop she avoids the show-offy shredding thing and sticks with the expressive drama of pentatonic based solos. However, I’m going to like whatever and wherever their musical journey takes them.

I don't think The Warning blocks videos. It's how they spread the word and make themselves famous. After all, they themselves put up full-length uninterrupted "official" videos, don't they?

The vocals on the EP are great, but studio vocals often are great. I hope their vocal skills have been refined but I need to hear more live performances before concluding anything.
They've done live studio performances of Choke and Evolve.

I was interested to hear your insights. I am not a musician, so getting insights from someone who has knowledge is important. This particular song I found to miss me entirely. Its not that I think it is bad, it just doesn’t hold my interest. I agree with you about Dany’s voice. She is maturing, and sounds fantastic on this album.
I haven't watched the reaction yet (something called work getting in the way right now), but I consider this a tour de force and to me it's Dany's strongest vocal to date. But I'm in the same position as Roy; this song just doesn't particularly appeal to me, just because of personal taste.
But I imagine that if they close Mexico City with this, as I expect they will, that Mark Bell will have the right of it.
@@robertkrawitz8237 I don’t see this song as a closer. The band likes to build to a crescendo, and this is more of a slow paced song. The band has alluded to this in the past. I could see Narcisista as a closer in Spanish speaking markets very easily.
@@roywall8169 They've used Narcisista as a closer, at least in Spanish-speaking countries. But this song has a feel of finality to it that Narcisista doesn't. Either way, I'm sure a Mexico City audience would love to go out with two songs in Spanish.
Paulina is often seen lip.syncing words when she is not actually singing. I have noticed this often on live performances.
Ale does occasionally as well. You may notice in live performances that she’ll sometimes sing along with Dany for a few seconds when she backs away from her mic until she has to return to the mic to sing her normal backing vocals.
Pau just sings, whether it’s lead or backing or just singing quietly to herself or just mouthing the words.
It kinda depends on her mood and how difficult the drum part is at that moment in the song.
You REALLY have to check out PLUSH!! They are another all-female band with one of the best singers out right now, Moriah Formica. She has been compared to Ann Wilson, Amy Lee, Lzzy Hale. Incredible musicians who released their first song Hate about 5 months ago. They released a second song Athena a couple weeks ago. Please react to them...you won't be disappointed. They are also going on tour with Evanescence/Halestorm in Nov/Dec
