Perhaps you can make a video on that topic. Keep up the good work
Honestly, it will be tough. You could try to work your way up like starting at smaller consulting firms and after some years of consulting experience, try to make the switch. But right after university with no notable experience and lack of academic achievement, you will have a hard time with MBB.
is FMVA certificate viewed as more valuable than scoring high in the GRE when applying to a PhD in finance school, or no and I should focus on getting better score in GRE, I scored low and I want to apply to top schools?
CASE and GMAT are not certifications but scores and both are very regional - GMAT for USA and CASE for Germany. I don't think anyone looks at certifications in consulting but for your own practice, I suggest going through SCRUM master and 6 Sigma. PMP might be handy for big corporate / governmental projects. Best not to mention MOOC certificates in your profile. Makes you look like newbie :)
Good video. However, the only certification that make sense here is the PMP. The CFA relates to banking and is almost the equivalent of an MBA. The CASE, GMAT (those are test not « certification » BTW) and other are useful in places (country) where education is not standardized across their education system such as in the US. Furthermore, certification was more relevant in the 70s, 80s, and 90s when going to university was not a requirement. Today, those certifications are mostly required by zealous senior people that want their new employees to do the same as they did when they got their first job. But since most do not think much nowadays, we have to follow that never ending requirements trend…😂 Furthermore, here where I live, having a scrum master or six sigma certification can help you get jobs, but most of the time you will need specialized work experience to back them up. I have both and they do not require a lot of time or cost much, except for the black belt that is around 10k$.
Does PMP still have actual practical value other than just a certificate that one shows off? I did my PMP a few years back and quite honestly I thought that almost 90% of the course content was just pure common sense.....with just around 10% or so being actual mathematical concepts and even those aren't too difficult at all. Imo PMP is just PMI's way of getting money out of people's pocket by "explaining" basic concepts using unnecessarily jargon filled language to make it appear as if the cert holder has learnt something really new. An even more ridiculous cert that I have seen is Scrum Master......just basic stuff sold for a good chunk of money. What is really needed is actual hands on experience and just a little bit of concept brushing....insted of wasting crazy money to get officially certified......at least in these 2 certifications.

For six sigma, try to get it from a CSSC or a ASQ certified provider. There is an other organization that also certifies but can’t remember it. A CSSC backed certification would be the easiest to get.
Unfortunate that certification in business is so far from those with IT such that for example if you need to set up a Google Cloud Architecture system a Google Certification actually gets you the job. For investment banking it's still based on how high you rank in a target undergrad or post grad program. It's also a function of how the candidate would be respected on the field ie your dealing with Ivy league graduates and you need to gain their respect and even lead them when likely your even younger than they are in this case a certificate may not do it for you.
wichtig ist: kein Geld verschwenden für (deutsche!!) (Non-Target) Unis. Lieber noch nen neberuflicuhen Master machen in Oxbridge oder ETH oder St. Gallen
The existence of Scrum Masters which are no acomplished softwares developers themself is the root of everything wrong with this framework. Just read the agile principles and skip all the other BS.
People putting a 'paid for by employer' business school certificate on their resume are a joke. Sometimes they really argue that they did indeed an MBA to people without knowledge on MBAs. On the GMAT: 25 years ago GMAT above 660 was very good. Ivey league GMAT was around 670 back then; This was before people massively started training on the GMAT and sometimes it was nt computerized yet. And one couldn't make many efforts to test.

I enjoy the video. Really interested to work together with you some day Heinrich
Would be great :) Check out the job postings at Building Radar if you are interested. Best, H
Great content. I’m working in retail sector at mid-senior level and trying to break into consulting without an MBA/ master degree in the UK. Currently finding it very difficult. Do you think by having the S or A level certifications that you mentioned will increase the chance of get in? Any insight that you could share about how welcome the consulting firms are to industry experts? Many thanks!
Yes
Not the CFA. It is mostly required in the banking industry or in specialized financial roles.
Hey Heinrich, Thanks for the video, very insightful content.
I just wanted to understand, can these certificates apart from the finance one help in building career in 'medical device'/ 'pharmacy' consulting
is the FMVA from CFI rellevant for consulting?
why is 6 sigma b tier
What about FRM?
relevant practical experience >>>> every single certificate on this tier list
its simple as that!
lol Im not talking about unserious trading things. With experience I mean working for several years in consulting, M&A, VC, PE etc
@@GirthyPotato short answer: no haha
@@GirthyPotato This is not true. I passed the CFA level 1 but I was able to move up in Credit because of my credit experience. The interviewer barely mentioned CFA progression.I work in credit research/credit analysis too.
Helpful guidance. Thank you, Heinrich.
very insightful thanks
Wie viel % Gehalt kann ich als ,,Scrum Master" oder Certified Blockchain Developer Nanodegree Udacity verlangen?
Hi Heinrich,
You mentioned about GMAT but what about the GRE? is it still considered or irrelevant despite it being a standardized test as well?
Thank you.
What's the difference between CFI and CFA?
Hello! Where would the CPA fall on this list?
where should I gain that B group certificate, like Sigma.. if I get my project managment certificate from coursera , how is it? Is it worth
For six sigma, try to get it from a CSSC or a ASQ certified provider. There is an other organization that also certifies but can’t remember it. A CSSC backed certification would be the easiest to get.
Extremely useful
Thanks!
Unfortunately SCRUM is gaining vs PMP, thats a pity. Hope PMP will continue beeing more valuable than Scrum. What do you think ?
Agree that PMP is going strong, but do not think it is problematic if SCRUM is doing well as well :) Best, Heinrich
Hey Heinrich, can you present a video on some good affordable clothing stores/brands for consultants
thank you
Thanks for your comment!!
I wish you included acturial exams
Thank u for this content and direction. #enjoyife #businesscert
I try the CASE link.. but they not have Canadian university in the free version.
What about FRM, CAIA etc.?
Yea lol i was waiting for those
CFA is hard!! I got Level 1.
Hi Thelma, yes CFA is definitely challenging. Congrats to Level 1! Best, heinrich
What about fmva , Mr?
What about toastmasters certificate?
FRM?
Need CAIA. Better than CFA for those not interested in traditional financial markets.
I die every time he says “bazic”
Unfortunate that certification in business is so far from those with IT such that for example if you need to set up a Google Cloud Architecture system a Google Certification actually gets you the job. For investment banking it's still based on how high you rank in a target undergrad or post grad program. It's also a function of how the candidate would be respected on the field ie your dealing with Ivy league graduates and you need to gain their respect and even lead them when likely your even younger than they are in this case a certificate may not do it for you.
What do you think about CIMA, CMA, CPA, ACCA, etc? I am doing CIMA and was curious to know what your thoughts are.
wichtig ist: kein Geld verschwenden für (deutsche!!) (Non-Target) Unis. Lieber noch nen neberuflicuhen Master machen in Oxbridge oder ETH oder St. Gallen
why dont top down communication in this video? lol
What about CAIA?
The existence of Scrum Masters which are no acomplished softwares developers themself is the root of everything wrong with this framework. Just read the agile principles and skip all the other BS.
I have a CSM and I’m not in software development but have found it useful in practical application in project management in daily work.
Normally like your videos but it’s distasteful you’re putting sponsorships in your content like this.
I just completed my L3 and cant land a job lol
What about cpa?
Talked about this early on in the video (excluded from this analysis).
ever heard of the concept of "F.U." certs?
people get those to stop contrarians from "knowing better."
no i have not
@@FirmLearning
it is a vulgar American joke.
Really don't agree with S tier value for a CFA nowadays
It still beats the rest in his list
Coole Geigenfeige Heinrich!
Nice try trying to sell CASE score! I won’t buy it
no need to. the basic version is free ;)
this was made 2 years ago. you are a con artist.
