Started doing it last Wednesday, although I had already written notes that were supposed to help me, didn't end up using a single one in the end. In the end, I wrote a 15 page report in a day. Turns out deadlines really get your brain going, and also makes you feel like shit due to stress.

@M. Logendran if I could try to think of one, maybe it's to force them to get into the habit of having a good posture for when they're marching and other stuff. Though I reckon there are other ways than making them eat in such a ridiculous way. But hey, all that the army wants is people who will kill whoever the higher ups decide to kill without a second thought. They wouldn't be doing this if it hasn't worked before.
@Coline Clodine-Florent that's what guard duties are for though.. you're not expected to eat like this even in wartime. Eating is meant to be to recharge and take a break. Cant fight a war if your soldiers don't have the energy to fight
difference between this and the united states army: you have 2 minutes to eat your meal, mix it all together and shovel it into your face as quickly as possible!
Most armies: Shove it in your pie hole ASAP.
ROK army: You can only use your left hand to hold your spoon & the spoon must be 2.3 cm from the tray edge & you can’t mix your rice with soup nor can you put more than 1.2 gm of food in your pie hole at one go.

I would not be able to do this.... I hate being looked down on and, as bad and juvenile as it sounds, I hate authority in the sense of "i have a high ranking than you do so therefore I am better than you". The minute someone looked at me weird or said something to me that I thought was rude even though they have a high status than me in the moment we fight. And I get that Koreans are different, but I think it's the same for military everywhere which is why when I got out of ROTC I told my family the truth: I don't have the patience it takes to be talked to and treated like this
But I it can be similar to parents. They may yell at you, but they are trying to teach you, not bully you.
How can these teachers teach "strictness," if they themselves are _not_ 'strict?' Its not because of Ego. But duty.
I don't think people at ROTC hate or look down on you, they were just taught to be strong, and are just passing it down to you. Usually they yell at everyone equally.

I am also very stubborn and outspoken on issues I strongly believe in which is another thing adults don't like and I'm sorry but not everyone is nice and looking out for you and some adults are assholes and think it's fine to talk to kids, who aren't even there's, however crazy they want because they are in charge and I'm not here for it. "I'm a person, and I have opinions too, who are you to knock me down because you disagree?" This is how I feel. I was just stating that I literally cannot do this because my personality just does not go well with someone entitled and I really don't appreciate being talked down to no matter how much older or educated you are. If I respect you, then I think you should at least respect me and my decisions half as much as I do yours. I'm not asking for much. But adults do not like to hear this. Besides, joining the military is not an interest in mine whatsoever, I disagree with war.

No, I understood your point, I'm not dense. I just happen to think that there are different ways of teaching strictness. You don't have to tell at a person to get your point across. A serious tone and eye contact never hurt anyone. Or, perhaps it's just me. To each their own, I suppose. I find it easier to get my point across by being civil, not by yelling at people. And I never suggested it was bullying. And, no offense or anything, but I'm sure your lives are very different, and as I've mentioned before I'm not an idiot so I can tell when people are being sarcastic and assholes, and I'm not young enough to think "he yelled at me, so therefore I'm being bullied" or to think "I'm getting yelled at more, so this teacher must look down on me". I know they yell at everyone equally. I just don't like the sound of yelling and I don't liked to be yelled at. I can't even yell myself, that's how much I hate it.
Also, I thought this show was prerecorded? I could be wrong but I keep seeing new fan cams of her so I just assumed this was filmed months ago. I too wish for Lisa to finish this soon, if it's not prerecorded. She's my bias and I worry about her being on this show. She may seem tough, but I think she's actually a softy and I feel bad for her 😭

In Indonesia too. Not as strict as this but its little same. I am a student, sometimes we do staying in militer camp for 3 days 2 night. In there, we have a discipline position when to eat. We can't lower our head. And when we eat, the soldier will count how long we will eat. Sometimes it only 10 second and we must finish. So i took just a little food so i wouldn't waste it. If we waste it, the soldier will be angry.

I really can relate to this I was a cadet for "citizenship Advance Training (CAT)" in my high school, and it's really hard eating like this, because I worry I may eat the red chili , which is extremely hot. Because our food is not like this, it's not in any container or we have a individual plate. The food is place in the banana leaves it is mixed with rice and different viands (literally MIXED) and our officers love to put chili in it (LOTS of red Chili), I thank God that it isn't taste bad as much as Imagine. And we should also use our bare hands to eat no utensils involve, Imagine 10-20 person need to eat in the same leaf, it's a chaos, so you have to get food in your hands as much as you can just to fill your stomach. Seeing this kind of show would really melt my heart. Because I know the struggle.
