All very theoretical if it doesn't stop the rain ! Jeez whens it going to stop? Very happy with my new setup 9kW PV 5K inverter 9.5 battery, not used any grid electric since it went it in late Feb despite rain. I do have one q. I have two strings on the inverter cunningly called string 1 and string 2. Can these names be changed?

My understanding is that if you have an inverter connected to the grid and the grid goes down the inverter shall automatically stop. The reason being, else the inverter would be trying to power the local grid circuit. This would be a hazard to any grid engineers trying the repair the fault. Also the inverter has not got the capability to power your street. Instead the GivEnergy Gateway AIO solution detects the grid fault and disconnects the grid so the house is isolated from the grid.

I think the same applies to the hybrid inverters particularly the newer. @PaulLandregan will 100% know

I am waiting for my system by octopus but they refuse to allow an EPS on the system as it is not in their repertoire . Also they have a very restricted view on what they will fit. No all I one with gateway just the basic inverter and battery. I am still considering cancelling and getting an approved Givenergy contractor to fit what I wish to have.

That sounds like a lot of red tape! I had four sockets added to mine as it was the cheapest. On the give inverters it’s always live. I’m not sure how or why they would restrict it?

Yes i asked Octopus to install an AIO but they said thats not in their portfolio at present. I went with someone else but in the end didn't go for the AIO.
