If you made the video after the suggestions on the video last week I want to know HOW on earth you managed to prepare this video and film it in less than a week?!
I have a question regarding serving - must your hand holding the shuttle be below the racket head. We have a player who, when serving crouches down bending his knees. The shuttle is definitely below 1.15 M but holds the shuttle above the racket head when he hits the shuttle. Is this legal ?
I love it, how my double partner and me always come back your videos, especially if we have different opinions on how to rotate or when we should have attacked and when not etc. In training we we often use the phrase "let's see what Greg and Jenny have to say about it" This video is probably one of the most played by now in our watchlist :D
On a serious note, it's really important for people to understand that formation has to be fluid and adaptable. Too many club players have it drummed into them that there are only 2 rigid formations i.e. sides or front & back.
Yeah. I am a hobby club player and I was always told, that you either defend or attack with strict formations. But now we have a new coach, who shows us rotations and allthough they might be hard to learn, if you were never introduced to them in the past, they are worth it. Not just for playing better, but for having more fun. Even on a hobby level, a double with rotations is so much more fun to play.
Congratulations 😃 We hope it was a nice surprise hearing your name! If you could send us an email at contact@badminton-insight.com we will arrange for the prizes to be sent to you tomorrow!
This is the best and comprehensive explanation of double rotation i ever see in youtube. Salut Video of chris calling "Marcus" or "You" probably can be a stand alone video hahahaha
Thanks again. I re-watched this video. I noticed everyone in my group, including my partner, were not covering the doubles side line. They were standing really close to the line down the middle. So I did a straight high lift or power clear to each corner of the rear court. Thus making them out of position. So they'd clear it back right back to me for an easy smash. Mainly because after clearing to me they'd stay in the attacking position. This took place for the entire day's session. Eventually I got bored & just played net shots. I'm by no means a net player. 😁 My opponent said I was mean. I did win the next 5 points.
Aloha Coach Greg and Jenny, very relevant well done video. Players do not know or practice doubles positioning and rotation. Most club player just play front/back or side/side. Vital everyone learn this. Thanks for covering it. Take care.
Rotation in doubles is the most difficult aspect of the game even at pro level as demonstrated in the English men's games. Now i expect to see some video of how to practice rotation. Please make a follow up video on this subject. Thanks!

And feel very disappointed..i enter so many state tournament in my country malaysia..that was my glory time..but now..everything distroy because of my acl injury...i miss to play badminton..sorry my english very bad..very good vedeo tq..
excellent discussion on a crucial but neglected topic. a couple of points i'd like to see discussed: 1) positioning on flick serve where receiver is likely to be off-balance after reply, 2) following the shuttle to the net when you play to the net also would love to see an entire video or series devoted to live rotation training with practice rallies
Thanks Greg and Genny, you people doing great job that is very helpful for bigginers like me...I always seen your videos and trying while playing...Thaks 🙏🙏
Mind explaining 3:47 please? Greg mentioned that a slow drop shot from your partner (the rear-court player) meant the opponent won't have enough pace to whip the shuttle and you therefore wouldn't rotate. I thought that the opponent not being able to whip the shuttle meant your team would have more time to rotate and ease the pressure off the rear court partner?
Ah thank you so much! Sorry you didn't win the giveaway this time, but we will be doing more in the future! And yes - we will definitely do a video on this! 😊
what kind of tiwel grip do the pro badminton players use because I bought something from yonex but it neither looks nor feels like what the pro players use so you know what kind of thing it is exactly? or maybe have in a link to the towel grip you guys are useing???
HELLO, I really enjoy all of your videos on youtube. Can I ask about how to escape from pressure in doubles? as we all know that opponent tend to attack the weaker person.
Thanks for the comment Jerry! We would suggest trying to lift cross to give you more time to react! And play accurate shots into spaces on the court. Hope that helps
How would you go about positioning as a front court player in an attacking formation when you're not looking to rotate? I find that standing further back in court allows for more interceptions but leaves you vunerable to the block and vice versa. Is there a general rule of thumb or does come with experience when to opt for the drive or block ?
It depends on your opponents and their style of play. For example, if your opponents only drive and hit everything hard then you would always stand further back in anticipation of them not ever hitting a block! It also depends on your partners shots. For example if your partner is hitting full 100% power then the soft block is a less likely shot, meaning you can take half a step back. Whereas if your partner is clipping / dropping then a block is more likely! Hope this helps!
hello! what kind of string tension would you recommend for a solid player who has won the club championship in his club but has taken a 1 year break but has started playing again playing 3 times a week and uses bg80 (yellow) and how often would you recommend to change the strings with the tension you recommend me? (Im using 24 lbs right now)
24lbs seems a good option to start with, maybe you can increase by 1lbs and see how you get on. Have you seen our video on string? It has lot's of information in it! ua-cam.com/video/xmrD07Y1P5k/v-deo.html
Too many times club players ask this "What formation you want to play? Front/Back or Sides". This video need to be post on big screen TV of every club lol

Thanks for your support of the channel 😀 All the best, Greg and Jenny
I have watched this video and I found there are a lot of talking and showing short clips of actual game. It would be good to have the presenters to show the different scenario and guide along the way. Thanks.
Hi, Badminton Insight, I like to learn more about this UA-cam channel and have my question & your answer. I hope you respond my comment and take your time.
Basic question: Where should both players postion to cover the court A) Cover thier own court B) One handle front other back or Go as the flow goes And What to do if one player is average the other is good
Whenever my partner runs off the court I stay in the middle expecting several shots. I was trained as a singles player. Usually I will receive a smash at the body. But my partner will somehow return to court & get in my way. I don't swing to avoid racket clashes. When I play with partners stronger than me they let me take the shot.
Thanks for all the great videos you make. Unfortunately, this explanation is not clear. Instead of talking about it, maybe it would be better to see it? You could act it out, or show us when exactly this happened in a game scenario, or draw some sort of cartoon and talk through it. But this is too complicated a topic to talk through fortunately.
Hopefully this clears up your questions on Doubles Rotations! Is there anything else you want to know? 🏸
You covered everything in great detail! It is a complex one but you really helped me to understand what it depends on - thank you 😄
If you made the video after the suggestions on the video last week I want to know HOW on earth you managed to prepare this video and film it in less than a week?!
Trying you absorb the info as have never rotated but really informative, thank you. Are there any caveats for right/left handed combinations?

Sure! What's your question?
Basic question:
Where should both players postion to cover the court
A) Cover thier own court

Best formation is the one where you rotate and adapt. Generally speaking, front/back when you are attacking, side by side when defending
