When Stilgar was played for laughs, my friend and I looked at each other in shock. On my second watch it wasn't quite as bad. I think it could have worked if they spent more time building him up as Stilgar, Naib of Sietch Tabr before turning him into a follower(or a "creature" as Paul says) instead of a friends and great warrior leader.
This trilogy is Denis Dune, Frank is going to be left far away. This is going to go into Chani is Paul's adversary. Chani is going to be SO interesting, yawn. No kids, so no one can make Children of Dune, God Emporer. Denis Dune Part III is going to have Irulan be Emperor, Alia will de-evil-fy the movie Bene Gesserit, Chani leader of the Freemen. Paul kills Jessica his mother. Read Dune Messiah, Denis part 3 will be nothing like it.

Having now seen Part 2 I now definitively prefer the Lynch adaptation. The Spicediver edit available on this platform is the best version.

The dinner party scene in the novel was absolutely awful. I did a lot of swearing while I was reading that
