Those rotors really look good! A lot of people don't realize how big of a role good brakes play until they have to brake hard in an emergency situation.
And it's on my Revzilla wish list. Damn that list is getting long!
I hear ya on that one! Chipping away at that list a little at a time!
I put one of these on my 04 Dyna Wide Glide. Now it feels as if I actually have a front brake. The previous braking was almost nonexistent. This is the only upgrade I've done to brakes so far and it was very easy to do. Definitely worth the money. I should have changed the pads at the same time but that's next.
Looks cool too.
Yup. Looks cool and performs well too, can’t ask for more than that right? 😁
Regarding your hands and carpal tunnel. Better padding in the palm of the gloves will make a big difference. Also look at Alloy Art Gooden Tite Handlebar bushings. They make a world of difference for under $50. Easy install as well. Thanks for the video. Ride safe.
Glove fit can cause this as I found out. Numbness in thumb and first two fingers is a result of Ulnar nerve interference from what I have found.
I have had tendonitis for decades too which just adds to this problem.
do you have video on your sissy bars?
It is just a pity that it is not mandatory in the USA that all vehicles have ABS like it is in a lot of other places around the world.
Big brake kit and ABS would be very nice together. One of the reasons have not touched the brake yet is because of the ABS.
I really wished that Victory actually had of given the Octane a dual disk set up in the beginning as not only do I like the look better over a single but, braking power would be a lot better even though the stock brakes are not that bad.
I haven't looked too much into it, but doesn't the Team-Plain bracket for Brembo support the ABS?
I agree with you on the dual disc setup, would have loved to have that from the factory. Like you said though, stock isn't too too bad.
It does but only on the stock size rotor and at $422 Australian/ $322 US just for the bracket without postage it is very step especially when, you still need to buy a Brembo caliper, brake master cylinder and new pads. I'd estimate that it would cost easily $1000 plus in either currency do to this set up.
Yuck! It's a shame that aftermarket support is so slow for the Octane. I can't blame companies, I mean there are no more Victories being built so aftermarket co.s are "why bother?"
Still seeing some new stuff come out every-so-often, so who knows? Maybe someone will make a dual setup or offer a swap kit from like a GSXR or something.
There are some of us that still do not want abs so making it mandatory would really suck for the rest of us
I myself personally prefer non abs brakes over abs. None of my bikes have it.
Hey, is it noisy? My rotor sounds like a cicada buzzing if I grab the lever and gets louder the harder I pull.
Maybe for the first couple rides to get it broken in. After a while it went away. But I do know exactly what you mean by that, my stock rotor was a little annoying like that.
@@RocketBiscuits 800 miles on it..still noisy if I pull the lever...less so now while off-brake.
Did you not replace the brake pads with the new discs?
Nope didn’t need pads yet. I plan on doing that this year probably
Does the rotor fit the sportster 883 custom xl 2004
Been watching your vids for a while now bro, excellent work. I too suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome. Especially on the highway, my hand would just go dead. I got this cheap little throttle lock (www.twistedthrottle.ca/go-cruise-throttle-control-device-for-1-bars) and it has worked wonders. Keep in mind it's for highway only (never had much of a problem around town as my hand would always be moving and circulating the blood). And yes, my gloves were a MAJOR factor. Changed the gloves and it did improve (not fixed, but improved). Hope this helps! Cheers mate.
+Bob Blawblaw cool thanks for the info! I've been looking into something like that. I'm gonna have to try out some different gloves. Thanks for watching!
I used to get that alot on my SV1000S but haven't had an issue on my Octane. I figured it was the different riding position not putting pressure on my wrist but I couldn't find my old gloves when i bought this bike and had to get some new ones. Maybe that is the difference.
btw. . your journey to work looks crap :-):-) (not!) Wow, blue skys :-):-)
