The Dorsey Senior High School Firefighter Academy Magnet offers the opportunity for students to learn about fire service and emergency response careers.

I was an Explorer with L.A. City Fire in South Central L.A. 1991-1995. Excellent program. Learned so many things that I still use in everyday life. When my friends were goofing off, I was throwing ladders and learning roof construction. When I entered the South Bay Fire Academy in early 1996, I was already familiar with the equipment and tactics, and had an easier time than the other boots. Bravo to these young adults and their instructors, bravo.
