UK producer here, A very important step is missed, you apply key tracking to the filter cutoff, this lets the low notes keep really subby, while playing higher, you open up the filter slightly.
@@gymkhana707 easily, In fact, I can tell you a such more simple way to do this sound than on this video. Square wave, filter on, little bit of resonance, then whack the 'KEY TRK' on the filter all the way clockwise, - this is usually not enough,... go over to the bottom right and look for the 8 squares saying "note, velocity, lift, oct note, pressure, slide, stereo, random" drag the "note" one onto the filter cut-off bar and adjust the amount to taste. (I got for around 47ish) Then on the main amp envelope (env 1), just simply add a little bit of attack, this will give the higher notes that sort of (and I laugh when I say it) clarinet tone to it.
Thanks I’m glad you liked it! I learnt a better way to do glide after I did this video. Through note expression. I’ll do a tutorial soon or just look it up. Tons of UA-cam videos on it.
I had zero idea that I could switch from semitones to Hz, lolllll - THANK YOU!!!! :D For the rest of it, first I thought "oh well, I did that a lot, so would I learn here" - but then you started off choosing a square wave where I would've chosen the sinus and put overdrive on it. So, I'm still learning. Thank you!
Drill producer here, and this video and most of the comments are wrong. Proper way is not by using a synth, it's with a sample. Add legato, no poly & glide. This method is used in 99% of Drill tracks.
Better way to make the glides in Ableton Live is to use MPE enabled instruments like Sampler and automate the pitch. That way you have more control on the lenght and the pitch of the glide.
Aye, I use that bpm site also, I like my compression attack and release times to be in sync with the bpm. My only complaint is that it doesn't give the time in between for decimals. Nice tutorial by the way, ez way to get that pop smoke sound. I have a request for an in vital bass sound tutorial that I want to learn how to make, and it's that harmonic bass in the song "our disease tera" by breakbeat era. That sound is one of the most satisfying bass sounds still to this day to me and it would be cool to make something similar.
@@xsm5525 I remember being really surprised to hear an early Dizzee Rascal track on an American film years ago. It seems so weird to think of Americans trying to work out the UK slang and references.
Hey Stranjah I've been struggling with ableton 10 standard for a couple of years now and I need help. I'm hoping u can point me in the right direction. I'm looking for a certified instructor that would be willing to do a one one workshop with me. I've been listening to your music for a long time and I figured u would be the perfect person to ask. Can u please help!?!?!?
@Intuition I'm not seeing your point. Garage is just a shortened word so you don't have to say UKG. I've been doing this a long time man. UK drill is not a type of production, it is what you would say if a UK MC was on a Drill song. There's 0 difference in the music and this is just a Drill beat.
@Intuition but there is no genre called US garage. I’ll agree that Drill is terrible. I refuse to acknowledge that it needs a country name infront of it to diferénciate a beat. Drill in the US is basically war zone rap. All of its originators have been murdered. Not sure why the UK would want to get in on that.
Sorry Stranjah. This is not a genre you should promote. It's music that has people die every day in UK. Look it up. Not a killjoy. I'm just making you are aware.
@@ThisIsDownstate you’re the one in the comment section on the tutorial how to make their music? sounds like their artistic influence has affected you? Maybe you’re just a racist?

how can this be implemented in vital exactly?

this really helped me get familiar with vital, thanks big man.
Thanks for this tutorial ..great explanation of sound design
Your videos are the best man!!! So much good stuff for new and time served producers! Nice one!!!
Cuz of this video I was able to dig up these sounds in a old Yamaha motif es8 keyboard they sound great thanks alot
Definitely a more unique Drill bass! Love it mate
I like using pitch mod to slide up and down instead of writing individual notes... Gives it that wub effect instead of sounding static.

YES! I was just wondering this! Thanks bro!
Great video as always buddy. Thank you.
Total legend!
Thanks!
Nice thanks mate... I usually used a Kontakt glide preset with some 808 bass samples or the Tal Sampler 👍
cool preset and useful tutoriaal!

Useful tips and clear instructions, lad ✊🍀
Does anyone knows how to do the motion in the beat "showing beat" time at 18:45 ? Pls
Nice one again!
Another smasher pal
🥶🥶 thank u!
every time i think about making a slidey bass i remember that FL slide notes dont work in 3rd party plugins and get discouraged
Make the bass then bounce it into a recording, then you can use that recording as you would normally in FL :)
There is a vst called Bendy that lets you do that
I'll be back here in a couple of days with a banger. Watch this space.
thank you Sir!
Yeah this is inspiring
every time i enable both filters on one OSC i just hear the first filter being enabled :/
I watch a lot of videos like this and yours are some of the best.
Can safely click the like button before watching.
bless bro, the preset comes up as text tho... am I missing something?
got it thanks.. had to remove .txt from the file
Are you opening it in Vital? Check below "Importing a Single Preset" blacklotusaudio.com/how-to-install-vital-presets-windows-mac
@@STRANJAH I was trying to open in vital but with .txt it wasn’t allowing me to select, only when I removed .txt it worked
Do Americans and Canadians listen to UK drill and grime?
very little I imagine, the only ones that seem to look into it are the ones who just set up those 'reaction' youtube channels.

Some of us do. I don't understand half of it, but respect the craft
@@scottadams7820 I suppose it’s only the same as us listening to trap or whatever, there must be loads of references we don’t get.

nice bro. you use a similar method to what i do. ggs broski

I’m a HUGE fan of this channel but I have to point out that Drill is a heavily American rap sub genre. Not originating from the UK but rather Chicago.
