26 years ago this meant the world to me. I watched this part with my friends over and over and over again. Then we'd go out skate all day and night. Not worrying about anything but skateboarding. Good times.
Man, start this video at 4:03-the killer music, the totally raw old-school tricks, the smiles on these young heroes’ faces, the concrete. This epitomizes why the mid to late eighties were the best. I’m out the door to skate right now!!
Chuck Freakin' Treece! Hope you are still rocking out old man! You were part of the soundtrack of my and oh so many others' teenage years! Plus this is one of the first riffs I learned on guitar. Thank you Sir!
Let's be honest. We all watch the part with M.c. Rad, weakness. Such an awesome song for such a wonderful time. It'll never happen again! Skaters unite!
This video always brings back so many good memories. No complys, shove-its and not too many tech tricks but just the sheer joy of a kickass all day session with your crew. What I wouldn't give to experience this again.
great track, i used to search for this track a long time. In the early 90 it was hard for a little german skater to get american music. Thanks to Hitsville records in D`dorf for having almost all!!Thanks to farm skates for supporting young skaters with their great skate area and a great variety of stuff. We all had a great time...! timewarp...
I used to have a Powell/Peralta Ray Barbee Poker Face Deck with the Skeleton on the front wearing the trademark Ray Barbee Hat!!! Tracker Trucks and Rat Bones Wheels, man do I wish I still had that!!! This vid brings back so many memories! Time to look for old SK8 Tv Nickelodeon videos!!!
same for me dude! Started in tucson az in 88! Now I'm almost friggin 38 years old, wtf! But when I watch this vid, it makes me feel like nothings changed. Still it makes me sadly nostalgic, thinking of my old friends who've passed on, etc...
Man me and my mates watched this over and over then went out and skated non stop too. Loved the music too!! Good times still skating today but with bad knees and ankles!!lol
was 14 when this came out and omg was the best thing too watch before a hard core skate session Mc rad and barbie were my life in 88 miss the good ol days so much !
drumr from los Angeles...wow how this video and all the Powell bones brigade videos bring back memories, from the glory days of how skateboarding was at it's golden prime !! I remember having Ray Barbees card deck with independent trucks and rat bone wheels... back in 87 .... I m 38 now....and I still have dreams of those days back then!! thank you for the good memories!! if I had a chance to time warp...1986' 87' would be the year!! thank you StAcy and all the whole Powell Peralta team for ripping it best of all ...knarliest team of all!!!
love this shit!!!! so many memories!! I was 10 when public domain was released. I had animal chin thru Powell video 8 and I worn them all the fuck out!!!
@rockymarco you 100% correct i was the same skated ever day it was my life 80s skating was the best ever just wish i could go back and do it all over again dream dream dream !!
wow! para esos tiempos recuerdo q los eskeiters veiamos pd antes d salir a correr para pompiarnos con los trucos. esa parte le pertenece a ray barbee. mi set up era una natas sma, con indy's, germany bearings, schmit stix rails y gomas oj's II, jjjj good old times yeah!
I started skating in in 88. this was the first video i saw. It was like so many others here have said. I skated before school. to school. during school sometimes. and after. at night with a homemade light setup in the backyard. thought about skating constantly. Did not want to do anything else but skate. i still skate, it's still fun, but doesn't feel the same
I love this video now as much as I did back in the day. Always wondered why they misspelt Ray's surname in the opening though. Guess it doesn't matter though, they rocked it!
@TheBenben76 Hey Ben ! in fact I bought myself a new board since I left my comment - so tired to watch and dream on those fantastic old Powell or Santa Cruz videos... I had to adapt myself to those new double-deck and concave boards without spacers or rails, I'm quite rusty and my body aches everywhere, I must be the oldest and slowest skateboarder of my town, but the feelings remain intact : pure joy and freedom !!!!!! I wonder how I was able to live twenty years without THAT... see you !
I have been looking for a skate scene that was on a video (between '88 and '90, I think) that had a song that said (something along the lines of) "bomb the bass, and I get deeper", "like a human, not a computer", "? is ? not a destroyer" yada yada.. That's all I remember but I can't find it anywhere!! I can't remember if it was on a Powell & Peralta video, an H-Street one, Santa Cruz etc - all I remember are these lyrics from the track (it's been 30 years so they're not really fresh in my memory lol)... Does ANOYONE know what I'm talking about and which video and/or track that was?? :P :P
Sorry they spelled him like the plastic doll though. Good one Powell. Your best street skater and you compare him to a little girl's dress up dolly, haha.
some people dont like his style because its "easy" or "its not real skateboarding." same people are like "i like skating cause you can do whatever you want." wtf!? i dont get it

ah Public Domain. Do you know your the best skate video of all time?
whats the song at the start
wonder how much skin he lost learning those hand sliding sess moves
What's that trick that Ray Barbee does at 5:26? Is it a half cab no comply? It looks fun. I'm going to try them.
Hey dude it's a fakey backside 180 boneless . Awesome stuff. I was 12 and skating 4 years. This video changed the game.
anyone know name of the song that starts when barbie's run starts?
Eric Sanderson wasn't good enough for sponsorship, but he rode for Powell for many years anyway.
7:10
Who was this song by and what was it called ??? Been trying to remember for like the past 20 years
Can someone please tell me the band and the name of the song?
Sorry they spelled him like the plastic doll though. Good one Powell. Your best street skater and you compare him to a little girl's dress up dolly, haha.
@lynus111 just a lame guy
Sanderson was pretty cool
Who sings this?
NewClear War mcrad / chuck treece
Whos that Plz say it to me
some people dont like his style because its "easy" or "its not real skateboarding." same people are like "i like skating cause you can do whatever you want." wtf!? i dont get it
i always hated steve saiz, the first time i met him he was the most annoying and rude guy i ever met
Sanderson wasn't very good compared.
