Cow milk allergy also. Was told NOT to even try goats milk. However, I am a rebel. I found out I am allergic to chemicals. So tiny, I have nowhere to safely store them because the body can't extract them. Chemicals are in everything. So, my journey landed me at my farm/ homestead. First thing I did was get goats. Guess what I can drink? Goats milk. Also, I think some people go to the store to buy processed goats milk, and it is NOT the same as raw goats milk. I know someone who worked at a milk plant, said they don't do anything to the milk to change it. So, I asked him to explain the procedure. He spent five minutes telling me how he separated the milk into 3 parts, water, fat, sugars, how they boiled it...( that changes nothing, right?) Threw out the whey, added more water, sugar, and vitamins, like vitamin D... then, added what's left together, and packaged it. So, basically, you have a man made white liquid vitamin drink that all the good stuff it cooked out of. Also saw a documentary that said it's even worse for one's health than raw. I'm thinking some people react bad to store-bought goats milk because of the process. So that number could be even lower than that if they had been in an area to have the luxury of raw milk to try. I'm living the life on my organic farm now. Drinking goats milk and we will can it and see how that goes next year. Glad you have a good outcome.
I’m a rebel too 😏 glad you found a solution!
I used raw goat milk to supplement breastfeeding my twins. Started them on goat milk when they were about 2 months old. They thrived, and the goat milk was very easy on their tummies. Better than infant formula which seemed to always cause problems. Goat milk is wonderful! Congratulations on being reunited with your beloved dairy! Definitely worth celebrating! 🎉❤
My husband LOVES milk. He noticed he was sick every time he ate meat. It took 3 doctors and asking for a year before he learned he has Alpha Gal, a lone star tick disease that makes you allergic to all mammal meat. Learning that helped but it wasn’t until he gave up the dairy he started to feel better. Even the allergist mocked his request for the test because we’re in Pa and the tick doesn’t live here and in his WV/PA practice he’d only seen it once and the person traveled south. Anyway, you haven’t mentioned meat making you ill but just in case you can have alpha gal without anaphylaxis…even if your dr says no. And the ticks have made it to Pa because we didn’t go south.
Have you researched chlorine dioxide on rumble?
😂😂😂😂😂 the twirl of the goat. I was snort laughing
i cant eat meat without a reaction ever since childhood but i can ear dairy. duck eggs almost hospitalize me but chicken eggs are fine. iv lived in Northern Michigan my entire life
glad your husband figured it out!
This was so funny and well done; you guys are so great. Circling with the goat!?! I died. Please keep making content!!!!
The hug scene made me laugh so hard. Happy for you!!
I was laughing so much!!! That was brilliant! 😂😂
So so glad you can have all the things you love again. You're going to need more goats to get enough gremlin juice for cheese and butter and ice cream though! More wonderful little creatures to embrace and tell them how much you love them. I think that task should be repeated at least twice a year. Can't have them forgetting that you love them! 🤣
hahahah the universe's ultimate last laugh! So glad you have found something that is working for you Aust!
I definitely recommend trying with sheep too. They're a quite a bit less Gremlin-y than goats. 😂 And I'm saying that as a dairy goat person through and through.
We got 2 we’re raising, I’ve passed sheep milk too!
@@Homesteadyshow sheep cheese, a whole another level of creaminess! ❤
We have sables (colored saanen). I love how quiet and gentle tempered they are. Even our bucks are like big gentle dogs. I also like getting almost a gallon per doe from once per day milking. I was frustrated with ND because of the small amount per milking and those tiny teats. They are cute and easier on the fencing though.
I love my Saanens, always wanted to find some Sables (the white color is the only thing I don't like about the breed). I love their temperament, very calm, sweet and quiet. And that was the only breed of buck I ever kept long term and would consider keeping one again. I have had a couple other breeds, but I would get frustrated with the small amount of milk after having Saanens....it didn't seem worth their much more obnoxious nature, LOL
The only other breed I liked was the Kinder, at least the line I had was quiet and good natured. Never kept a buck though, didn't need to at the time, so I have no experience with the males of that breed.
Love the thumbnail ❤!!
😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉 Congratulations!! I love my goats ❤, glad to see you're back hugging the goats!
Hilarious! Loved the video and the happy ending!
Hi Family 👋
I fight a very rare, genetic condition called Mastocytosis. Basically, my body produces too many mast cells and they are in places they shouldn't be, like inside my GI tract. This condition causes recurring, severe allergic reactions 24/7, all day, every day, pretty much. So, my "safe foods list" gets smaller and shorter weekly. I just reacted to blueberries, my last safe fruit. I can still have chicken and beef. And, a few vegetables. I was diagnosed with Celiac way back before anyone knew the word 'gluten.' So wheat, rye, oats and barely were removed from my diet 25+ years ago. But since then, I have lost many other favorites. I'm still thankful I can eat real food. Some live on feeding tubes and then even react to the GI food mixture or the tuning. Its tough when your body is so sensitive. No coffee. No tea. No juice. And, now dairy is starting to cause symptoms. I'm in denial. It's the one thing I still have. Yogurt. Pudding. Milk. Butter. I'm going to check out your doctor's information. Maybe she has heard of Mastocytosis and maybe she has even been able to help a few patients who suffer from it. We'll see. I only tried goat's milk once about 25 years ago. My throat started itching, swelled and U started coughing. So that's not an option. Plus, I'm allergic to oats, almonds, some rice, coconut cream and that leaves pea protein. I bought a bottle of Ripple this week. I plan on testing it on a good day when my symptoms are low to see if I can tolerate it. I don't have high hopes though because non-organic peas caused reactions. It's so hard when they are adding GMO foods and other toxins to our food supply already. I'm looking forward to the day I get my miracle from God and I can eat foods freely again! 🙏❤️🥰 Blessings from Texas, Candace
Hi Candace, so sorry you are going through such a hard challenge with food. I only know a little the struggle, and it is hard, so I can't imagine how tough it is for you. I hope you find some answers, and thanks for being a part of our community!
So happy for you!
Can’t wait to see you get a huge goat herd 😂
Best video yet! Those goats sure do love you, even if you do think they are gremlins. Our goats give us so much joy. Embrace the silliness. The universe just kicked you in the butt a little bit :)
This was a hilarious and informative video. Enjoy those goats!! 😃
My almost 11-year-old daughter is about to have two yard goats too. She is SO EXCITED ❤ her happiness is worth it for me and her dad. Everybody in the fam is so happy to have silly little goats on the farm again.
This is my favorite episode! I truly lol’d many times.
Wow! You had to give up so much stuff! I didn’t even take that all into account. So glad it’s working out for you. How is your son that had a problem with milk when he was a baby and you got a camel 🐪, hope is little digestion system is good. 👍🏼♥️👍🏼♥️👍🏼
Very valuable information! I love cheese, as much as you do, and always have problems (not the same as you though 🙂) after consumption. Am sure it is the proteins. Will now test pure goatsmilk products. Thank you very much for sharing and the very funny way to present this topic! Was a pure joy!
"Even the stinky buck" power move right there.
This is seriously the best hahha! Thank you.
If you want quieter goats, try Toggenbrug goats! Lovely milkbreed and so quiet compared to most other breeds!
The goat I recommend the most is the oberhasli goat. They are gentle, rarely scream unless there is a problem, and easier to milk. I started with nubians. They escape fences, are loud, obnoxious when they want something, and hard to manage. Oberhasli are not like that at all. They have long teets so they are much easier to milk then the nigerian, too, with the milk machine. Watching you milk by hand with the goats struggling reminded me a time I never want to go back to. I bought a milk machine on amazon for 100 dollars. The goats love it. They never fought with me again about the milk. I don't know what it is about the machine compared to my hands, but they are unruly with my hands. It sucks trying to figure out how to run electric to your milk stand, but it is well worth it for the goat's sake and your sake. 😂
What a great video guys. Austin you crack me up!!! Would you be willing to share your feed combo diet with your goats? You are milking Nigerian goats right? Lastly do you pick up that tangy flavor at the end with your personalized goat feed. I am 64 years old and would like to start with raw goats milk. I follow a Dr. Hamon or Dr. Hanmond and speaks of how modern dairy is killing us. Little less intimidating than a cow. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Zero tango flavor! But only because we got the minerals correct. Before they were low on minerals and it had a very funny tang at the end. We will cover this in a video!
@@Homesteadyshow Thank you Austin. Really appreciate this.
Snicker, I chuckled when you hugged the goat kid…
I could just imagine him/her saying “Mommy, Help!! The crazy man has me!!”
So, if you haven't already looked into guernsey goats, they might be something you'd be interested in. They are SO QUITE! Additionally, they are hardy, easy keepers and have delightful personalities.
This is hilarious!😂 Goat hug!
I am glad for you, it is a big deal! I have struggled with a lot of restrictions in my diet, and I have been on a long journey repairing my gut and healing autoimmune conditions, so that I can reintroduce foods and live more fully. Milk was never on the chopping block for me, but meat, gluten, a lot of root vegetables, and nightshades for many many years. I have reintroduced some nightshades and roots, I hope to someday reintroduce meats and meat stock... This was all to say, I understand how exciting it is to lose a food and get something back in some capacity!
Oh my Laura! Meat! That would be soo hard! I hope you get that back!
@@Homesteadyshow thank you! I hope so too! Btw, I love your show. You and your family provide such a great resource to the community. We hope to start our farmstead in the next couple years.
You put a smile on my face today :) You have beautiful ND goats. I love our registered Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats and their delicious milk. If you are looking to add more let me know !!! Congrats on getting to enjoy your favorite foods again.
So happy for you! My son has a milk protein intolerance that seems very similar to yours so we will give goat milk a try!
How old is he? Dr. Trill says young kids usually outgrow Milk protein allergies 🙏
@Homesteady He just turned 2
We have a herd of Nigerians who we love but we just added British Guernsey goats to our herd and they are SO incredibly quiet. They have been here about a month and never make a peep. I know you’re not a fan of how loud they are so you might want to add a Guernsey to your herd. They are medium sized and produce more milk than a Nigerian, a great homestead breed. Also, for off flavors look into the free choice mineral buffet system. Game changer. I run a holistic goat care group… “The Crunchy Goat” feel free to reach out with any questions!
I discovered the smooth, velvety and wonderful quality of goat butter several months ago. Yum. It's like getting a very high-quality cow's milk butter.
LOL Great video Aust. Yay More Goats.
The new goat shirt needs to say, “Bottoms up, Buttons!” 😂 🐐
What feed and mineral combination do you feed to get good milk?
Bahaha love it. Would love to know what you’re feeding them :)
May i suggest also trying sheep diary. Manchego cheese from my country, Spain, I ❤it 💕
I remember way back when y’all were first trying goat milk and you tested it very soon after mama goat kidded, it was full of salty colostrum and, of course, you all hated it!!🤪 You have come a long way.
And we’ve definitely found it depends on the goat. We’ve had some who’s milk was good a week or two later and some who we couldn’t drink for a month!
I didn't expect the goat hugging to be so dramatic 🤣 gotta add [EMOTIONAL, NOT CLICK BAIT] to the video title lol
Could you share a video on how you helped your milk taste better??
I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. After a lifetime of my father’s favorite food being shrimp and crawfish he developed and allergy to shellfish. He was so in denial he almost killed himself because he wouldn’t stop eating them. He finally stopped when it put him in the hospital.
My heart goes out to you…I love mushrooms and with the birth of my second child I developed an allergy to mushrooms…I used to eat a lot of them and I still miss them😢…I understand the pain of giving up a favourite food
I like mushrooms too! Would be sad to lose them! Sorry Julie!
AWESOME, so glad for you! I love goat milk in my coffee. Cant wait to add to our herd with the bucks in a few weeks!
This was hilarious! God got you good
😂😂😂😂😂😂 loved the goat cuddles
One of your best videos ever! We love our Nigerian dwarf goats milk. 👍
Thanks. Why did you enjoy it? Love to know what we’re doing right 😂
@@Homesteadyshow Well I love goats, and I enjoyed the dramatic storyline leading up to you having to hug the goats🤣
I need help finding a place that sells miniature jersey milkers, without it costing the price of a car. Do you have any advice or leads for us to buy one? We really can't afford much, but we also know how things are running in this country and we're trying to prepare before the everything happens. If I have to drive across the country to buy one I can afford, I will. I just want to make sure my grandchildren has milk if and when the market completely crashes. Any iformation would be much appreciated from anyone. Thanks in advance.
Do the chocolate chips have cow dairy in them??
I developed an allergy to paprika my second year of university no more bbq ribs… the good that’s come out of it learning to make my own spice mixes including taco seasoning never quite the same sometimes better sometimes not.
I have Saanen and Saanen crosses. Did you know Boar goats have upvyI 38% cream? I have some crosses. Out of 2 gallons of milk, I get one quart of heavy cream. It's very silky and wonderful in coffee, butter, ice cream, and cheese. The cream is white, and the butter is white. In a blind taste test, none of my family or friends can tell the difference between cow or goat butter. When I make my cheese, I use a bit of cultured buttermilk I make with .... goat milk. The yogurt I prefer is Bulgarian yogurt easily made in an Instant pot with goat milk. I do strain it. You may be looking into a cream separator. Best of luck!
I had a milk allergy to cows milk at a young age. Started raising goats over 5 years ago and I had no symptoms. Last year I started getting swollen lymph nodes and inflammation. I got allergy tested and I'm allergic to all milk.
I was lactose intolerant and drank Lactaid milk. Then I got tested for allergies and discovered that I’m allergic to cow’s milk but not goat milk. I’ve never had any lactose issues with goat milk.
Yay for goats!! So glad it worked out for you, cute lil gremlins for the win lol.
So,... that funnel that you use to pour your milk into jars~where did you find that?? Popcorn 😕 We went on an anit-fungal diet and corn products had to go
25 years ago I had to give up bananas and eggs due to a bad gallbladder. The only way I can eat egg or banana is if there is enough other stuff with it, ie . banana bread there is flour and nuts and other ingredients with it. Some days I would kill to have an omelette.
Yes! More Thomas the train lol. Great video as always
Had to give up coffee, citrus, tomatoes and pepper last week to prevent severe and constant bladder pain. I had consumed them all daily.
Would love some tips on how to get great tasting goats milk!!
A lot of it is the breed of goats.
Coming soon! we will cover!
Hey Aus...what about sheep milk? East Friesian milking sheep are great! Ask the dr about the proteins etc
We’ve got milk sheep we’re raising right now. And i can have sheep milk as well!
That was the funniest video ever! 🤣
I'm the opposite, I love goats, but my daughter loves cows. She sneaks off to the neighbor's cows to help milk them. She doesn't like my goats 😜She keeps threatening to trade my goats for her own milk cow, lol.
That was great! I drink almost all goat milk and use pretty much all goat milk for cheese, yogurt, butter, etc. But cow's milk doesn't bother me, I and my friends are just goat herders. Many older people swear by goat milk for their stomachs and general health, along with all the children who drink goat milk instead of cow milk.
Gluten, beans and garlic. I can't have ANY of them. I miss them soooo much! There are other foods that I should avoid but I can't give everything up, right?
Oh man. That’s tough. Gluten is a sad one to give up! And garlic!!! Ugh.
I tried both, can't drink either and I love dairy particularly cheese of any kind. I tried everything lactose free but it doesn't help. I found I can tolerate Ghee but not all ghee, it could be the quality. I found it is the casein.
I LOVED garlic, but I developed an intolerance. I get double stomach cramps: abdominal and stomach.
Try a different kind of cookie. Can be something in the chocolate chips. That was it for me!
I've been giving up foods for years, but yeah, dairy (cow) was a hard one to give up. Because I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE cheese. But... I love not being in constant pain more than I love cheese. Kinda eyeing the goats now and wondering...
Have y’all ever had dairy sheep on the farm? Will you try sheep’s milk?
We do sheep milk on our homestead, superb stuff.
I’m highly sensitive to the casein in dairy and unfortunately goat & sheep milk also contain just as much.
LOL you HAVE been trash talking goats for a while ...the irony!!!! Well played Kay...well played. Didn't know there was goat butter how cool.
I found out my family carries celiac disease and gave up gluten. My health got drastically better but bread was my favorite food and back then there weren't alot of GF products (and the ones that existed tasted like carboard and birdseed). Thankfully GF products have improved markedly.
Then I started having problems with coffee. Too sad of a subject to talk about!
Then when my son was born, he was allergic to every dang thing, including dairy and eggs. I tried giving them up for his sake but literally went through withdrawals from the lack of cheese 🤣
😂😂😂 After all that smack talk!!! Oh the irony!!! But at least you get cookies!
Fresh, raw goats milk is awesome, esp in my coffee. Nigerian dwarf goats are my go to and come on who doesn't love a tiny nigie kid. I have 4 in milk right now. A lot quieter than the Nubians and are the biggest Cats I own. My daughter had the milk allergy and is fine with goats milk. I have the issue with flour and it's not gluten at all. It's whether it is Bleached, even sugar. Unbleached flour and raw sugar are what I have to buy anymore. In any product or I get ill.
I'm addicted to cheese myself.
I couldn't handle store bought cows milk when I was a kid, went to raw goats milk for a while until my mother tried raw cows milk and figured out it was the pasteurization process. So she's had shares in a cow for 30 years now.
I had to give up anything with wheat because several years ago I developed a true allergy to it. I break out in hives. It’s not fun. I’m hoping the idea of allergies getting out of your system every seven years is true so I can go back to not having to worry about foods with wheat in it.
And now the circle of life is complete. 🤣
Whats the A2 fact better milk and better 4u
That was hilarious. I too am allergic to cows milk but currently live in the suburbs. Maybe one day though 😊
I’ve had to give up gluten, then dairy, and now some fruits are giving me a tingly throat….
@Everyone
Get an American LaMancha's
Elle-May is an
American LaMancha, she is VERY quiet, and mellow.
I cannot eat icecream without feeling sick for hours. But no problem with cream in coffee.
I have Hashimotos so my diet went from everything to gluten free, egg free, dairy free, soy free, and keto. When I found out that my body was ok with goat and sheep cheese I was ecstatic! Just to have some dairy products back in my life was heaven!
This makes me so happy! I also have hashimotos and we got our own dairy goats. I plan on completely switching to goats milk but I have been so scared that my body will react the same with goats milk. I know it technically still might not agree with me but your comment gives me hope!
Getting dairy back is incredible. Glad you did, you didn’t have much left!
I hope it works for you!

Congrats! We're now on year 2 of our dairy goats and have been very happy with the taste and quality. The only downside is that, at our scale, it's not practical to harvest cream in any useful amount.
Lol I remember when you had goats. I was sad the goats were gone. How long ago was that? I laughed when goats came again.
Too funny!!! But glad that you can still have milk!
Yes! I’m so happy
Dude, there’s cow’s milk in those chocolate chips. I’m glad the process of making the chips renders the protein edible for you.
You can also try sheep milk. I've taste tested and sheep milk was sweeter than cow's milk.
I love milk but found out this year I am allergic and it was what was causing my joint pain. I've been thinking about trying goats milk but don't want to be let down if I react to it as well. Lol
😂 that was funny. My son has a cows milk allergy, he was drinking goats milk mostly for about year. Then the immunologist said it’s basically the same as cows milk. His allergy is only mild and I like goats milk anyway. I think it sits better.
Yes, I love bell peppers and apparently our bodies can build an allergy to that which makes zero sense to me but now I am completely allergic to bell peppers which I love and I’m not allergic to any other kind of pepper which is great but I suspect there are some peppers that are more similar to bell peppers that I am actually allergic to. I’m just not allergic to the hot kind which I love. Also, I would hate being lactose intolerant I love milk! I dream of one day having a Homestead in which I have cows so I can make all the dairy products I want with my cows milk. LMBO. However I am very glad that you found a milk alternative. There is a goat cheese from Trader Joe’s that I really like it has cranberries. It’s totally delicious and I bet you guys can simulate it with great results. There’s also a similar kind that has like vanilla and blueberries. It’s totally good. I would try it. Anyways, sorry I haven’t visited your channel in a very long time. But I’m glad to see everything is still going good with you all.
My favorite fruit was mango!!!! At 14 I was eating one and my mouth started to swell … my lips looked like I had a bad job of Botox … tried again a few months later it was worst …. People said allergies can go away after 7 years… no luck the doctor told me never to try it again it’s just making it worst …. So no more mango for me can’t even cut it for my family my hand swell …
I can't drink coffee due to health issues : ( it makes me so sad.....
I cant have gluten, dairy or alcohol.
I tried goats cheese once and I had the same reaction maybe the milk will be ok. The cheese was a soft cheese.
I lost gluten for two years.
Lol I just got a dairy goat and it's been nonstop trouble ever since
Yep. 😂
Omg, man, I was raised on at least half Italian cusine....so when I got diagnosed with Celiacs disease, I felt as though 14:24 14:24 14:24 14:24 14:24
That is so funny LOL Hate Love relationship
Yay!
Wait, isn't there (cow) milk in the chocolate chips?
Nope. Those are allergy free chocolate chips. No dairy.
