She's trying to hide the fact that she knows who the caller is. The mom knows who the caller is and is hiding it a secret from her daughter. Not what she seems, she's hiding something. She probably hired a serial killer after her daughter, since she wants to get rid of her. The best way to kill someone is to pretend like you didn't do it.

my mom and dad were always working , i remember being home alone as long as i had a conscious. I wasn't particularly scared of anything and i still enjy being home alone, but i was scared of samara from ring popping out of the tv. i used to cover it with a blanket
my mom but to be far when i was ninebi was already pretty mature and responsible but to be fair i also have separation anxiety and would call her crying because she had been gone to long

Theory: The person on the phone was her mom all along, or someone she knew who she let call her daughter, or even told them to.
Why she'd do this is up for you to decide.
Where I am from if the police realizes you left a minor alone, at home or in a car, you have to face charges. It’s illegal to leave a minor by himself/herself.

Reminds me of a time when I had a traumatic experience where I found a relative on the floor in the bathroom, when we had gone to the hospital together, I was extremely upset. I told my mom and she laughed and said she would have loved to have been there to see the expression on my face....
It's a real shame to know that some people can't have kids, got their kids kidnapped or taken from, those whose children were murdered or maybe even comitted suicide and then to see those who have children to treat them like trash.

Ones i was watching TV whan I felt like some one was watching me . I kept watching TV then I felt agine like some one was watching me I want to look out the window whan I swa a man with a mask looking at me I ran and called 911 I told them that some one was watching me they said they will come right away but then I heard the window brack then I ran fast as I can to the door to open it and then he came right at me he took me in my hand and start to run away the police the man puted a gun in my head and siad I will shoot I closed my eyes and wished it was a dream then I heard gun shoots and then I opened my eyes the police officers came and took me I still have visions of the man today

Guess what when my daughter was 4 years old we was just going to a park it located in haunt waulk put there was a srilankan man who was folliwing us and my mom is good at running but the man was still following us and then we saw bloddy dead bodies and we saw a another won hanging on the holla hoop
