The thing is Ron isn't really that fat...... There are way bigger people in this world...... Maybe you should just not open your mouth if you have nothing nice to say..... Us and yes i say us big people ( i am 6 ft 2 470 lbs) have heard fat jokes since we been young, therefore you fat comments aren't needed.
Caught a black drum nearly the size of Ron's my first trip to the pier on a 2 month stay in Florida out near New Smyrna. First cast, first day, and within 10 seconds, almost takes off with my rod. Had to jump in to net it with the help of some old folks I had hold my line from the deck. Took it home and cleaned it with the help of Neighbor Bob, may he rest in peace. Good memories tied to this fish. Nice catch, guys.
I have caught some big Black Drum and the texture is a little courser than the smaller fish as you would expect. They taste just fine and would likely even hold up to a skewer on the grill. They are also great in chowder or stew as the pieces do not fall apart during the cooking/stirring etc. I find the ones 24 inches and below just like Redfish and no one at my house ever complained because their mouth were always full of the next bite. Good video guys.
Hey Brant and Ron! Cajun here from Cocodrie, Louisiana! I don’t know if you have tried this before but those ribs from them bull drum are AWESOME!! We have boiled then in crab boil smoked them and BBQ them! When we boiled them the meat tastes like firm crab meat. I’m telling you brother try this out put it on a video and tell me what you think!!
I tried a small one in ceviche and it has been the BEST ONE EVER!!!!!! IT WAS FIRM NOT MUSHY AND HAD A GREATV TASTE IT MADE ME A BELIEVER,CANT WAIT TO GET ANOTHER THIS WINTER.
I've been watching your channel for awhile now.. I love your enthusiasm. As I am new to saltwater fishing its been very helpful and educational.. Keep it up! I'm glad Ron isn't leaving, you guys are like the dynamic duo of fishing.
This brings me back to the first time I cleaned a big black drum and scrubbed my arms with alcohol, soap, and bleach afterwards because I did not know the worms were so bad. Also your videos bring me back to Florida. I have been in the Midwest for about a year and miss the ocean very much.
Those drums were HUGE you guys! Congrats on the PB for you both. Gotta admit you guys got me on Ron leaving. That would have sucked considering the great chemistry you have. Tight lines guys!
Just caught and cleaned my pb black drum, 25 inches, off the beach in Ft. Pierce FL on a half of a calico crab. First one I ever cleaned and ate. I agree, it has the texture of chicken and wasn't fishy at all. Didn't bleed it, but did let it marinade over night and then baked it. Didn't see a single worm. Might be the worms come with being in inland water rather than the ocean. I'm kind of new to salt water fishing, so I'm learning as I go.
Sweet !! I’ve never kept big drum before. It’s kind of like the hard head deal, we just never did it. But I’m glad y’all cooked one up. You can’t be scurd of worms, they’re in almost everything. Just cut them out and move on. Great video guys, the fam really enjoyed it. 🤘
Hey I lived in morehead kentucky for awhile . I fished cave run lake. The frog gigging and flathead catfish, muskie, crappy, ect, is the best you'll experience. The whole state of Kentucky is an amazing place. The people are the most down to earth people. And the fishing is awesome. Y'all should a video in kentucky.
Caught and cook a puppy drum, delicious, will try a big drum next I catch. Dang, you guys teasing like that “last video with Ron” my heart sank, then laughed along.
I went on black drum trip with my son and brother and we had drum that ran from 75 down to 25 lbs. The captain cleaned the fish and said cook it the way you would veal. He also cut out the rib bones and we cooked them like spare ribs. One the better eating fish I have ever had. The ribs on the 75 pounder were huge
On the 4 th of July we fish on the banks for the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo. I believe three years my nephews had won the black drum they were very big ones. Never have we eaten any of them because of so many worms in them.
Hey Brant I’ve been watching you forever. And I mean forever!! And I just got back to watching your channel and I’m loving the vids with Ron bro. Great stuff. I watch these everyday to chill out
Back in the 90's I was a fish cleaner for a sport fishing outlet in the Chesapeake Bay. Certain times of the year they would catch these big ole drums (biggest I have cleaned was 97lb caught by a seven year old girl) and I cleaned them with a cleaver and a filet knife. Some were thrown off by the worms so I was able to clean for myself. Cooked right and it will taste very good!
In Texas We cannot keep Black Drum that large. We have a 14 to 30 inch slot limit and 1 over 52 which is the state record and isn't happening. I My wife and I recently caught 12 of them in one day that were 34 to 43 inches each on blue crab. We can keep one redfish above slot and tag it but no such luck on black drum.
Spaghetti worms are gross, but totally harmless to consume if you cook the fish through. I was totally freaked out the first time I saw it but after doing some research realized just how many bugs / parasites we eat on a regular basis 😂
First time I've ever made a comment I really like that you have young kids I'm totally impressed by that I love to teach kids how to fish I don't even take a rod for myself I get such a rush to see them get their first fish anyway nothing but love from Oklahoma
I'm curious as to where this is. I live in Milton and the last time I seen a black drum that big was in Galveston Bay '08 just 2 days after Hurricane Ike tore through there. was at Bird Island waiting for an assist boat to pass through the causeway train trestle. Damn thing was close to 4ft long. know that cause deckhand who caught it was over 6ft tall and it hung to his knees when held at shoulder height.
FYI, it helps in filming fishing-fish, when you have a polarized lens for the camera also (not sure what camera you are using). That will kill a bunch of the glare off the water! That was a great fish BTW!
What a fish ! Wow . Ah yes ,little do you know whats going to happen at the Bass pond number two ! Watched it before this video . Tom Daytona Beach, FL. 10, May 2021 .
That was a great video guys. I’m loving your more recent stuff. Good catch and cooks with family type settings. Awesome. Juan, if ya know ya know and I KNOW 😉 👍👍
Major thumbs-up for Sara, the young lady's got real courage! Take Brant frog gigging Cameraman Ron, so he can try some fried bullfrog legs and don't let him slide.
I’ve eating black drum, that size and even the boat I was on and the Nate said you can eat the worms if you can even find them. I didn’t even bother looking for them, I just ate it. Tasted fine to me.
Almost 1/2 way to getting to watch Brant bullfrog hunt....... I am so excited about that...... Bullfrog catch and cook and watch Brants face..... Lmao..... I am ready
Awesome fish but I’ve been catching black drum like that since I was a child. I’m from Louisiana. There we fish the saltwater marshes. In one particular spot near Catfish Lake in Golden Meadow, Louisiana. Everyone I’ve ever caught over 20 lbs had huge parasites (worms) near the tail mostly but I’ve see them all over the fish’s body.
I seriously think this has gone a little too far, I mean a shirt?! And all Because I called Ron, who is fat....... FAT! Just stating facts!

Hilarious that Brant is excited to eat the drum ( with worms ), but nearly lost his lunch on the hard heads in the last video. LOL!

Just an FYI those worms are generally safe to eat when cooked thoroughly. Just gotta have the stomach for them lol but what a giant!! Nice catch!!

I have caught some absolute monster drums in the canal on the orange beach side. Alot of fun to catch, but I've never kept any of them.
