    I was referring to pumping 90 psi into the radiator when you were forcing the air into the radiator to speed up the draining process by closing the discharge with your finger. I ordered this astro tool. It arrives on monday.

      You're gonna love the kit it's a beast..... no worries on the 90 psi in just pop your finger over it for a few seconds it will only pressurize it a small amount to force out what's left in the system...but yeah I wouldnt do that for too long...😁

    the hose that was drawing the coolant into the vehicle had air in it. How do you purge the air from that hose?
    Unless the air is purged from that hose, it will end up in the engine.
    With my Airlift, I used to hook up a vacuum hose with a blow gun with a vacuum port, & then close the valve when the hose was full, then connect it to the Airlift & open both valves & that was it. NO chance for air in the system at all! The Astro system doesn't give you the option of purging air from the supply hose.

    • @JohnnysSpeedShop
      @JohnnysSpeedShop 3 роки тому +1

      You can purge the air very easily with this one but its absolutely not needed...if you have done enough of these you will realize that...and yeah I have the airlift one as well, this kit is far superior to the airlift one......

    Also do you fill up thru the radiator or thru the overfill resurvoir? I have a 2015 Mazda 3

    • @JohnnysSpeedShop
      @JohnnysSpeedShop 5 років тому +1

      Not sure on Mazda 3 I'd have to look at it but you can do either depending on setup.... if your overflow just vents to atmosphere the no it would not work and you would need to fill via rad cap and top off the expansion....sometimes you can cheat the system and clamp off hoses but you need to make sure you know what your doing if you try to cheat it....I'd be safe and just fill via radiator...cheers....

    • @JohnnysSpeedShop

      I have a 60 gallon set to 160 psi....its a 15.6 cfm rating...a beast if a compressor....not sure what you are using but I would think you would need at least 5 compressor to draw down to -25....

    • @JohnnysSpeedShop
      @JohnnysSpeedShop 2 роки тому

      That should do the trick... are you having a leak somewhere ? When you pull down to -15 does it hold there ? They are sensitive to any type of leak... whats the car ? Do you have an expansion tank and a rad with a cap ? That could be causing it as well, in this case you need to bypass expansion tank and draw vacuum from radiator directly....

      @@JohnnysSpeedShopHey Johnny, thanks for checking on me. I found a fix, my air compressor literally didn't have enough juice. After numerous testing, I close the gauge single time when my compressor kicked in and open the gauge to resume vacuum when air pressure full, repeatedly. At the 3rs times my reading finally reaches -25psi. However that still doesn't fix my heater core air pocket after filling. Could that due to the thermostat preventing circulation? I had a Lexus RX300, 2002.

    • @JohnnysSpeedShop
      @JohnnysSpeedShop 2 роки тому

      Hmmm. Are you 100% sure its the heater core ? I've seen guys chase heater core gurgling noises and the evap drain was blocked and water had accumulated in the hvac... if you held -25 you don't have a leak, I'd check the drain tube for the AC, if thats clear and clean id flush and reverse flush the heater core (if junk comes out flush with CLR and water until clear) refill again with vacnum filler... if it still doesn't work burn it 🤣

  • @suertelara3

    So after refilling it with this kit you still have to burp it or just make sure no air is getting burped?

    • @JohnnysSpeedShop
      @JohnnysSpeedShop 5 років тому +1

      Really depends on the car....my titan there was no need to burp all the air was gone, however I did a 2.0 turbo Hyundi and they have a metal crossover pipe, obviously that will not crush like the rubber hose so that car had a tiny bit of air bubbles after filling with this but it was almost nothing probally would have been fine.....good luck mate

      When ready to install coolant...you need to start coolant up the hose then shut off..then start vacuum again..then start filling coolant ...that way you don't put the air in the hose into radiator..well probably clear as mud but hope you get it..savvy..great video..thanks👍

    • @JohnnysSpeedShop

      Yeah mate...thats ideal for sure but I've done a ton of these without priming that hose and never once had an issue... I stopped priming after my 2nd one....🤣🤣 because you still need to manually check and run a heat cycle, any little air gaps will work themselves out...cheers for watching...🍻🍻
