    I just bought the same trinocular simulfocal Amscope. There is a plastic adapter that mine came with, that allows the light to mount to the plastic adapter, which screws into the bottom of the microscope. It's just like your rigged plastic cap, but with some dedicated plastic area to mount the light to.
    Also, some of the Barlow lenses have a dedicated place on them for the light mount, and others do not. If you buy a Barlow lens that has the groove on it, you mount the light right to the barlow lens.

    I am from Brazil working with laptop maintenance unfortunately I still do not have a microscope because here in my country and very expensive it costs up to 11 minimum wages and when we ask from outside the country we have to pay another 60% of the value of the product in taxes. Congratulations, great professional, good videos, I really like your videos.

    Thanks for the video. I just purchased an AmScope SM-4TP and I need mine for filming experimental organic reactions and with my model not having that silver level that toggles it from left eye to camera port is actually a bummer for myself. From what I've read it looks like I'm loosing 20% of light since the one I have disperses it out 35% left eye, 35% right eye, and 30% for the trinocular port. I know I could just use more light on the subject but there is a significant amount of light being lost by it being dispersed this way. Would the light be dispersed differently if I put lens caps on the two objectives? Or do they may a scope that just has the trinocular port and nothing else so all the light goes to that port? Thanks in advance!

    I just received my AmScope SM745TP this week, I am curious, what camera do you recommend? I mainly want to output to a flat screen monitor instead of relying on looking thru the eyepieces while I'm working. Tom, Central Florida.

    I have a very similar scope. And when I went thru more of the stuff that came with it, I found the light keeper ring to work w no lense or the .5X lense. My X2 has one built in. I use mine in micro-mini Paleontology. And I wish I had more crank adjustments, vs the hand bolt. I measure odd shaped objects. First I wish I had a turntable to raise and lower specimens vs the scope. Second. I have GOT to find my way thru the computer program to exactly measure what I am looking at. I need a tutorial for the software. And BTW. I used to go straight from scope to TV. The computer program is much more valuable. I curse myself for not computerizing sooner.

      With the NTP model, Amscope moved the diopter-adjustment from the ocular ports to the individual eyepieces. Also, retention screws now hold the eyepieces in place, and independent focus adjustment can be made with each eyepiece. Also new is a zoom-lock, which allows you to lock the head at a specific magnification -- might be handy for measurement applications. Lastly, they redesigned the nose cone such that it now features an integrated mounting ring for ring illuminators.

    Hi Jason,
    Got my SM-4TPZ and noticed that I have to re-adjust the focus a bit at the end of the zoom scale (close to 4.5x). Do you also have to do that or I should be worried that I received a faulty scope ?

  • @james67693
    @james67693 3 роки тому

    HI; me again; couple of suggestions;1, if you would like to double magnification, instead of using a 2x barlow lens, which halves working distance between objective lens and object viewed; replace the eye piece lenses with 20x; quality of image suffers very slightly but not significant for my purpose; working distance for the objective lens remains the same. 2, you may like to apply a 1x barlow lens to provide protection for the objective lens; doesn't change anything; just protective cover for objective lenses...

    How strong is this new microscope or is the major difference 1 eye vs 2

    • @ststele
      @ststele 6 років тому

      Oh man, there's a huge difference for me. With only one eye, there's no depth perception. It's more of just a flat image so when doing work, it's difficult to know exactly how high or low your tool is. With both eyes, the image is stereo and stands out at you in 3D. I imagine that someone who only has one eye may be used to the lack of depth perception and it wouldn't affect them so much. It's still only a 45x microscope though.

  • @renaulth2009
    @renaulth2009 6 років тому +1

    Thanks for this video. I have a retina disorder that is leaving me with 20/200 left and 20/50 right eye vision. I was wondering if I would have a hard time using a scope for repairs? Could one do this kind of work by just looking at the screen?

    • @ststele
      @ststele 6 років тому +5

      You're welcome. I think it would be possible but I found it to be very difficult because of depth perception. If you have really bad vision in one eye, you may already be used to the difference tho. When I first started out, I was using a cheap USB microscope and was able to get the job done but it was very difficult. I was mostly doing the work and then inspecting it with the scope afterwards. If I had started with a stereo scope, I would not have thought it was so difficult because 90% of my troubles was not being able to see it as it was in real life. I suppose one could probably adjust to doing it all on-screen as long as the video wasn't laggy and had good quality. I would have a really hard time if I tried it though. It's very difficult for me to tell which way is higher or lower in relation to the bench. Thanks for commenting. :)

    • @haziqsofian
      @haziqsofian 6 років тому +1

      look up for barlow lenses.. it can increase working distance if you use 2x on 7x-45x microscope..if you use 0.5x it will reduce working distance but you have larger view of the board.. in effect a 7x-45x microscope turns into 14x - 90x when using 2x...0.5x turns it into 3.5x - 22.5x ish... but sometimes they advertise 3.5x - 90x that means 0.5x and 2x are included as a package with the microscope..hope that helps..

  • @richardmilner4392
    @richardmilner4392 7 років тому

    is the 7x-45x zoom good enough for the smallest of soldering components on a circuit board with plenty of clearance space to solder. I am a service center for companies like Line 6 digital amplifiers and some of their stuff is tiny. But the scopes I have had access to made you pull the scope down so low it was hard to solder without hitting something. Also I don't know the power i am using on this scope as it came from the 60's and the lady got it from her uncle while they were swapping out to new gear.

    • @ststele
      @ststele 7 років тому

      7x-45x always seems to be plenty for 99% of everything I do. The only time I find myself wanting more is when doing long screw damage trace repair. Sometimes I'd like to see that just a little bit closer :)

    • @ststele
