This level of slicer is a good introduction at a relatively low cost. But if you know you'll be using a slicer regularly (we slice up hams, roasts and turkey breast to make our own sandwich meats), skip these and go straight to the $250-350 models where only the outer ring of the blade is exposed. There are several issues with this style that are acceptable when you're slicing a pound or two, but a pita when you're slicing several pounds of meat -- -- the "backstop" has some flex - which is especially an issue when doing very thin slices -- the blade generates a significant amount woodchip-like debris - you can see this in the video - especially when slicing turkey breast. -- the carriage has an exposed wheel near the cutting face, and it gets bogged down in the debris that piles up below the blade -- no method to sharpen the blade.

Very poor quality slicers, i had them, not professional at all, you will be frustrated. Better use a knife than this
