@@muzikxpress hey been a fan of Moby for 3-ish decades and learned more today from your video than the other decades combined. Great work, “the algorithm” needs to get it’s crap together and send you a million views. You deserve it
One of the best dance tracks of the '90s. Could be _the_ best, however it's up against (IMO): - Prodigy - No Good (Start the Dance) - Candi Staton Ft The Source - You got the Love - Faithless - Insomnia - Felix - Don't you want me. amongst others,, including Moby's own Move & Feeling so Real
I have a Death Metal album on CD that was made by Moby...very hard to find these days...also, his album "Ambient" is an absolute MASTERPIECE!! If you like the chill stuff i`d highly recommend you find it and give it a listen.
@@muzikxpress I was really big into the ambient stuff in the mid 90`s, Moby Ambient and Aphex Twin Selected Ambient Works 85-92 are still to this day two of my favorite albums to listen to when i`m a little stressed or can`t sleep...genius and very far ahead of their time!
Good info, and very appropriate use of background music! Works so well. The strings and the "angel sound", perhaps something else as well, comes from Yamaha SY22 or TG33 (it has exactly the same "engine"). It's the heart of Moby's blue strings. Many known artists have used (and still use, I hope) the synth, either one of the models. Check out Dave Angel - Life's little pleasures, there's a good example of heavy use. Or Pet Shop Boys - Home And Dry, where they use a single "string" from the beginning. The PSB probably uses TG33, as it's the non-keyboard version and fits better (and I've seen it on their video), but I don't think the keyboard is a problem for Moby. His apartment with the many keyboards hidden in drawers, all ready to be played is fantastic! But the Yamaha strings from SY22/TG33, there is something. Not trying to be that accurate real strings replica, but more usable in synth music. As a previous owner of SY22 and owner of TG33, it's always interesting to hear them used. Finally, Angelo Badalamenti! He's also a common denominator: he's arranged orchestration for Pet Shop Boys as well. Just my random thoughts on Twin Peaks theme, Moby, Yamaha and how they play around in my mind. Cheers!
Thanks Sami! I couldn't find much info about the equipment, but my previous vlog (Hans Weekhout interview) has quite some info for gearheads ;-) Thanks for the comment! :)
muzikxpress and to comment your video, I think it was very well balanced. I think it has no room for gear info. But I don't know any other artist who has raised Yamaha SY22 melancholic, low resolution blue strings into such highlight. True? For example the ambient tracks found on Everything is wrong (dj mix double).
Big classic! Hopefully one day I can do an interview with Josh about that one. For sure on my wish list, but unfortunately he's not performing here (The Netherlands, where I am based) often. But.... hopefully one day (if he's up for it of course!).
I find his early track U.H.F - U.H.F. actually the best. Early techno track from Richard. It was released on XL recordings. But Go is also a good track, as well as later tracks such as why does my heart feel so bad (to which ferry corsten made an excellent remix of it)
the phoenix 315 I’ll visit Frankfurt soon to do some interviews there (Check my latest post in the “community” tab for more info) and guess who I will visit? 😉
Thank you! And I love that track as well, might do one next year. BTW did you know yesterday it was 18 years ago "Porcelain" got released? Good timing ;-)
The track Go from Moby became also very popular because of the Twin Peaks series were on the local TV with the track Go in ihe beginning of each serie. My parents were seeing Twin Peaks at the TV and because of this track in the beginning I saw this series with them. I found this track immediately amazing and recorded it with my casette player. It was so different and mysterious at the time. The best trance number of Moby ever is my opinion.

@@ingmarbuis8984 haha all good! I can tell you are passionate about music and I think we kinda like the same kind of stuff! I’m also old, I’m from March 1975…. Time flies! 😉
I purchased the orig. stripped down version of "Go" back then in 1990 and it`s to me by far the best version! The Twin Peaks sample later gave it a depressing vibe.
I had no idea Moby is this popular and well known. Granted, i'm not really following him and his music, and i usually don't watch video's about artists i don't listen to often but i sincerely liked to watch this video. Perhaps i should watch more of them?

I’ve been obsessed with Go since the 1991 release. There’s something about it that just takes you to a different state of mind
Amen brother, I feel the same. Energy Flash (by Joey Beltram) is another one for me...
Fascinating
Always loved moby...so many great tracks
Great quick overview about MOBY...many things I have heard for the first time.

David Lynch is the coolest.
He released tracks under the alias 'Brainstorm' in 1990. Rock The House is superb early rave.
A good informative vlog. Thanks for the share. Good job.

With the success of “Go (Woodtick Mix)” he went on to remix various artists such as Michael Jackson, Pet Shop Boys, Brian Eno, the B52’s and more!
Moby is one of my childhood heroes! Go is among my all time dance favourites. Porcelain and Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad are great too
Moby is just an amazing musical mind
Informative thank you.The drum machine in the period mixed with extacy made party groups lose their minds
England banned these party's.
🙌🏻
Highly recommend the Moby book.
Another nice detailed back story...Go is probably in my top 3 tracks by him. Lovely chillout track.
