After being spoiled by bushings for years I have recently nern flipping a Mako and really enjoyed the lack of bushings and slop in it. But I gave the Mako to one of my buddies to further his flipping adventures and was really missing like I said the "slaaap".
So to get away from my bushing balis I have recently been getting back into my old Squid Trainer for the past few days. But like you, Brandon, its a might heavy for my tastes too.
....might need to snag a teal Mako soon.....
Sometimes a dude just wants those 4x vibes which I don't think you can get with bushings.
I thought it squid released a new product from the title, still glad for the review!!

I’ve had my ST 3.5 for about 4 months. I love it. It has held up great in my heavy abuse. I would recommend it for people trying to upgrade from a entry level trainer (squiddy/Amazon)
Flipping ethans 2.5 is very nice, and I can only imagine how they feel brand new. My mako felt amazing, and im sure the 3.5s feel just as good! Theyre a bit heavy for me, but man theyre super solid flippers, and the purple they just dropped? DAAAAAAMN man. it's got some tough competition nowadays, but still a solid buy. Amazing video guys!!

Ah, that's the stuff, unintentional threats of violence and the delightfully twisted humor I've grown unexpectedly addicted to. I will be grabbing this flipper specifically for the ring as my flytanium lucha has a nice kachenkuh to it but it just don't sing like I like. Flips good though (was bought as a direct result of your review and yeah I'd say fair and accurate review there too).

I recently copped myself an Antarctic and I’m tempted to give the SQT3.5 a try. My experience with Washer-only balis (had a mako V4) was poor (handle bind after dropping twice only). Whatre your thoughts?

I've looked at your reviews and I'm either getting a Mako 4.5 or a Krake Raken trainer
Those of course are two very different price ranges, but the Krake Raken trainer is top tier whereas the Mako V4.5 is just "good"
I heard that the new krake raken v3 trainer will have the same noise as the live blade version and im pretty hyped for that, so a video idea is do a review on the krake raken trainer v3 (just a sugestion)

I bout a squidtrainer about a year ago, I will say that I do kind of regret buying it over the krake raken trainer, which I am considering buying now. I have refined what I like when it comes to balisongs, I'm in the middle on weight, generally 3.8-4.2 ounces and I fully enjoy bushings over anything else. So let's hope the kraken is good!
Trainer blade sucks for the kraken. Buy a life blade and if you can't/don't want sharp flippers then dull or tape it. You won't believe how much better the tanto flips, I own both the trainer and tanto V2.5

My v4 is weird. It’s on bushings so you can normally tighten it all the way, but mine has no swing if you do that. The bushings are also kinda oversized. I love it though other than those complaints.

I know your list is live blade versions but I needed to know, talisong z trainer vs Krake raken trainer? Which would you choose?
I mainly run live blades but I was looking at getting a trainer. I love my flyty lucha for reference.. I just know I can't get an extra live blade from squid if I want to swap it but I bet flyti probably would. I'm at an impasse lol
We only tried the Talisong Z trainer extremely briefly at Bladeshow 2021 last year, so we can't compare those fairly, unfortunately!

I have a question about balisongs? Why does no one ever make their balisongs out of Cpm:3V steel? It is insanely tough and it retains its edge (I know that isn't super valued for a balisong but still it is there) they make a premium version of their knife and they go to one of the worst steels there is for a balisong m390 (utter trash steel for tough applications because it chips really bad and they don't count chipping against the steel for its toughness guesses but you can see it in testing) aebl I'd great steel for a balisong, but 3V is the goto for "premium" toughness and edge retention. That is why 3V is the choice on most fixed blade hard use knives. It just seems like a perfect fit for a balisong. Why do you think no one has even tried it yet?

It's been a long time since Will or I have flipped the Krake Raken trainer, and even then we only had the V1 trainer, so we can't properly give that a score unfortunately

Honestly after getting the Antarctic and a Maryn and a Krake Raken i probably wont get any more Squid knives until they start adding bushings and keeping the prices even with other makers.

@@ThatDudeDeven nautilus is great but kraken is also great. They're both light but nautilus has more grip imo. V2 nautilus has jimping on the sides so that's nice too
The Squidtrainer was my first balisong by a real company, the first 2 hours of flipping one of the zen pins was falling about a quarter out and I had to super glue it in, and since I'm in Canada, I couldn't get it shipped back without paying like $75 even though on their warranty it says that they will "repair or replace the product(s) at no charge to you". I thought that would be it, but no, flipping for 2 more weeks and the other zen pin is fallings out too. Keep in mind I don't beat my knives, I flip the over my bed. My friend's Baliplus Kraken clone has held up 10x better than this is at a quarter of the price. I would say that this was maybe a one-off thing but Ethan's (camaroEE's) nautilus developed blade rub and tap after a couple of days after. He got it sent back for it to just develop blade rub and tap again. I'm not saying that every knife from squid industries would be like this but I would want to let people know that a qc issue could happen on one of their knives while it's being made.
The reason the logo is up that way is because of the dimensions of the bottom of the blade, that’s why it’s up the right way on the squiddy because there’s room there. 😂 I’m pretty sure 🤷♂️
I wish i could buy a knife from squid industries, but since i live in EU shipping fees kill the opportunity i had of my parents buying me one. I was gonna tell them that the 40 euros for the squiddy is worth it since it would last a long time, but since the price doubles with the shipping fees i wont be able to get it. I guess ill have to ask for the nabalis g10 (there is also shipping fees since it isnt available in EU) But at least is something. Either way, love your videos, keep them as cool as they are

I'd say the durability should be higher. my squidtrainer was absolutely beat to hell. I dropped that thing on concrete countless times and I could still tune it to no tap and slight play. it was beat so bad only half of it had anodization on it.
Since it's 6061 aluminum, we can only give it the score we did, since other metals/materials are substantially more durable than 6061 aluminum! If it was 7075 it would be a 9/10, if it was quality titanium it'd probably be a 10/10!
