    NOTICE your Z lead screw mounts (where the lead screw goes through the mount) are loose which will cause print issues (At exactly 4:33 in video) The lock screws are almost off and I bet the screws themselves are loose). You will need a 5.5 flex nut driver to tighten them easily. I found this and once I tightened them and cleaned the rails my Neptune PRO 4 is rock solid and prints like a dream. I love this printer. The pre shipment inspection sucks as I found many loose screws and once everything was tight I found this printer to be AWESOME. I bet these loose screws are the cause of MOST problems.

    Nice review, thanks. I got mine still in the box, can't wait to unpack it.
    From other tests, I've seen that the usb should accommodate a multi usb dongle and allow both a camera and wifi to be plugged at the same time.
    Something worth mentioning is that the pro has a drawback that even Elegoo forgot to mention, the metal rods need to be cleaned and greased regularly to avoid quality loss or unexpected wear. I guess this might be even a bigger issue for casual users since the printer is likely to stay unused and collect dust for longer periods of time. Glad I went for the regular since that's my profile!

    John, Off topic but I think a great video would be combining 3D printing and laser cutting. I have been slowly learning Lighburn, and am surprised how easy it is to take some of the objects to be cut on the laser and import them to Tinkercad and then export as a STL, or even slightly modify them and then 3D print. I know you are big in both areas - would be a great combination.

    I keep hearing UA-camrs placing fan noise as a 'Con' on reviews of high speed printers and I don't understand it. It's not a 'Con" as in it's poor product design it's really just a fact of life. There are trade-offs when it comes to engineering a product, in the case of 3D printers you trade sound levels for speed. It's a really good trade to make in this case because you get a very significant bump in speed for a less significant bump in sound with excellent resultant quality. It's kind of like complaining about the rain.

    • @TripodsGarage
      @TripodsGarage  Рік тому +2

      Yep! You cannot have it both ways. It is only worth noting if people need a more silent printer. However, it can be silent, just print slower so the curtain blower is needed.

    Thanks for an honest review of both the Neptune 4 and the SV07. I have an old Sovol SV01 that I've modded out of necessity (fixing issues and improving where possible), and was considering the SV07. After your video for the Neptune 4, I'm looking at the 4 Pro as it's only $299 on pre-order.

    • @TripodsGarage
      @TripodsGarage  Рік тому

      Hello, even all reviews aside with the SV07. I just believe that the Neptune 4 just beats the SV07 in almost every category. There are three things that the SV07 has that the Neptune doesn't, a Kl;ipper Screen, WiFi, and independent Z's (off the top of my head). The Neptune 4 just seems more refined, and actually worked for me. Thanks for watching and commenting! Much appreciated!

      @@TripodsGarage The old SV01 has dual Z as well. Unfortunately they're connected to the same place on the board. Still, it seems to work ok. The only worry about the Neptune 4 I have is no accelerometer. Maybe you could answer that question though by plugging in the one for the SV07 into the Neptune or looking through the menu screen or Klipper to see if it has a section for it. I haven't dove into Klipper in anything yet

    • @rabbitrampage
      @rabbitrampage Рік тому

      @@TripodsGarageThe SV07 also comes with an accelerometer for tuning input shaping, 12db quieter, Meanwell PSU, slightly larger volcano style hotend, and more nozzles on the market (none besides 0.4mm out for the Neptune 4 yet). I'm stuck between them myself at the moment. They're the same price and I'm tempted by the 07 as it's quieter, has better UI, WiFi out of the box, and less complaints about the firmware, although the Neptune seems to print faster and better, along with better customer support. The main thing keeping me away from elegoo besides the noise (my printer is on my desk with my pc), is the PSU quality. I got an elegoo robot kit years ago and it came with dodgy fake 18650 cells so I don't know how much I can trust their power supplies.

    I wanted to order one but it was unavailable in EU all the time... So I have decided to go for Sovol 07plus which was available on premiere day. And it was a very good decision. Printing all the time with PETG and no problems at all and the prints look awesome. And it was only 309$ for early birds for a plus size printer (304x304x350). And it has a wifi which runs smootly without any problems out of the box. There are some cons of course - it goes with old custom cura 5.0 and You need to export the profiles by hand to prusa or new cura,the rolls on Y axis wear quite fast if printing/traveling on 250mm/s + speeds and fan is super loud but I use it on 15% on Petg so it does not bother me at all . Haven't try elegoos Neptune4 ( I use their mars series printers and they are awesome) but sovol might be quite a competitor for a printer of the year title.

    Got a Neptune 4 Pro from Elegoo direct. Its a refurbished unit, they occasionally get a few back that they resell for a bit less. I thought of it as a good way to learn Klipper on something that is already set up and running, as I'm looking to deploy about 6 Vorons next year and Klipperize a few old deltas. Its definitely an Ender 3/V2 replacement. Don't upgrade the Ender. I recommend the pro version because of the linear rods and metal vslot wheels. You will never come out on upgrading the ender because the Elegoo comes with all the goodies for the same base price. Now, if they can get a little better with slicer profile support and not worry about repackaging an old version of Cura, they'll take that marketshare from Creality.

    For $300 you can get an Artillery Sidewinder X2 with volcano, direct drive, 110v heated bed, dual belted Zs, oldham couplers on Zs, and a 310x310 build volume. About the only thing this has over it is the PEI sheet. Additionally, the Sidewinder uses an edge card connector on their XZ frame, and all of this stuff gets connected when you place it on top of the base of the machine. It's sad to see everyone jump all over "oh it's got klipper oh klipper klipper klipper". Klipper is just another firmware. Most of the people watching this either already have klipper on a better machine, or have no real idea what the hell Klipper is for. Most people just assume Klipper = FAST...but, let's be real here, at the speeds that bed slingers are running, Marlin isn't going to be any slower. So unless you LIKE diving into Linux, and futzing around with firmware, and trying new things, and staying on the super cutting edge and breaking things just to fix them over and over again, Klipper really doesn't do shit for anyone other than make manufacturers include a whole linux computer with their 3D printer to make it work. Oh, that on-board storage? It can corrupt. Firmware doesn't do that, and Klipper is Firmware mixed with a control system on the board. None of you people pushing klipper klipper klipper ever explain these nuances to your viewers and I suspect it's going to cause a lot of frustration for people who aren't interested in 3D printing as a hobby, but just want to use the printer to print things.

      I don't mind a troll or rant. I have the Artillery Sidewinder X2, and it is a good machine. It has a 300x300x400 build volume advertised, not 310. I like my SX2. However, the ribbon cables have failed on me twice, and having the permanent glass bed is an issue. Yes, Klipper is just another firmware. Both Marlin and Klipper have their positives and negatives I am not here to have say which is better. However, you failed to mention, to get any of the features that Klipper has on a machine running Marlin, you will need to get something like Octoprint running on a PI or another computer. I never said Klipper was cutting edge. I compared it to the Neptune 3, and what made it different. Where am I pushing Klipper? I mention that it is running Kipper. I never say that Klipper is better than Marlin. As mentioned in the video, people can use this basically as a Neptune 3. Slice the file, save to USB or SD card and hit print off the display. Do you use onboard storage with computers? Can they get corrupt? I bet you have a cell phone with onboard storage, running an OS? Where is that in your comment? What Marlin and Klipper does, it gives people a choice. Clearly your choice isn't Klipper. As for me, I run both. I bet if I watch other videos, and read the comments, your comment will not be there. Yet, you pass this judgement on me. Most people want choices, and with choices it drives innovation.

      @@UA-cam_Nr.1 - Yes, with Elegoo machines, most have a very positive experience out of the box. There have been complaints of stripped gears in the extruder. This happened on my Artillery Hornet. The X2 is about 2 years old, and Artillery hasn't released any new printers since. I would like to see a Plus and Max version of the Neptune 4, like they did with the Neptune 3. Then the consumer has the option to pick a Marlin or Klipper machine with almost identical footprints.
      The way this rant went, you would think the title of my video was "Why I love Klipper over Marlin" or "Never buy another 3D Printer with Marlin". I simply said the comparisons between the Neptune 3 and the Neptune 4. That the Neptune 4 has a curtain fan, more inputs, ethernet jack, and a higher spec'd board running Klipper. I proceeded to say that the Elegoo Neptune 4 is far better than the last Klipper bed slinger I tested. I never once said that Klipper was better than Marlin in this video. His claims of me pushing Klipper in this video is laughable. However, as a 3D printer OS, Klipper is superior in many ways. Plus can be just a simple to use as a Marlin based machine, just like the Neptune 4.
      It has been bad enough for printer manufactures to provide updated Marlin firmware. Who are the manufactures are selling Marlin input shaping and pressure advance?

      @@TripodsGarage I waiting for the neptune 4 plus as my first printer what I worry about is those complex printer head including the extruder and how difficult it is to dismantle them when there is problem. Something I'd like to hear more in the reviews.
      I wish they made easy dismantling a feature. Nice review BTW !
