- I was a little upset that the guy wanted to charge $41.00 for the cabin filter....but he said "that includes the labor"...?...I saved about $30.00 changing the cabin filter myself. This a 2004 Toyota Camry but the same procedure is used on many other Toyotas including Lexus ES330, GX470, RX350, RX400H, Toyota Avalon, Camry, Sienna, Solara . The part number is FRAM CF10132. Found at Walmart for $11.86. You can even find this filter cheaper....try amazon also.
Thank you. When I told my bf my cabin filter probably needed replacing, he said I didn’t have a cabin filter 🤦🏽♀️ so tomorrow I’m going to Walmart*. And I’m going to borrow his drill.
*or an autoparts store
I love UA-cam - remember the days of needing to buy an expensive shop manual to do these things? Thank you so much Steve - clear as a bell!
thank you i could not figure out for the life of me what direction the arrow needed to be LOL
Glad it helped. Yes I could not believe how much research I had to do just to figure out what direction the arrow should be!
Awesome. Just completed. My cabin filter looked disgusting. Thx
thanks. I was a little confused about the direction, now clear accoridng to your video.
Air flow arrow pointing down. If it says up next to the arrow then arrow points up.
Great video. Straight to the point. Thank you!!
awesome. thanks for the info and also providing part number.
Thanks ❤
So I am confused about the air flow direction. when I took the air filter out, the top was dirty with leaves, stuff, etc. That would suggest airflow is going DOWN (as you have put the filter). However if you look at the plastic cover that clips over the filter, it shows air flow arrow pointing UP. Did Toyota make a mistake on all of these covers?
The arrow on the cover is pointing the direction of the cover, not the filter
I belive some don't come with removable filter from factory and you need to cut away the face plate and buy the tray and filter.
Mine had way more wiring harnesses in there to manuver around to remove it.
What if you install with airflow the wrong direction?
Thanks for helping us. God bless you.
Sorry to say major of the mechanics are out to rob every one in any way but the laws of nature is there punishing them. I have not seen any millionaire mechanic . Eventually they face all miseries in rest of the lives.
$39 us reasonable. Some charge double that.
Thank you, Dad.
LOL, sure...no problem!
Good job.
Thanks!
I saw another video showing same procedure except they suggested to keep the air flow arrow upwards? Now i am a bit confused.

I just checked the Fram filter website and they say this:"Install the new filter in the frame with the air flow arrow pointing down. Be sure it is securely tucked under all the retaining tabs on the top of the frame. If you get a different brand than Fram then check with the instructions that comes with the filter. Thanks for watching.
The confusion arises because the OEM filter says"UP" next to the arrow and thus is not the same as air flow. Up means up but if it says air flow the arrow should point down.
Mine doesn't have an arrow
Overkill with the drill.
The arrow means the air flow goes down cause the arrow is pointing down or it means the airflow comes from the bottom?
Yes down because the airflow is blowing into the cabin.
