- Hi Everyone, today I bring another winter creek session to you. In this case I am trying the Salmo Frisky 7 which is slightly heavier and bigger than the Salmo Fanatic 7 I tried in the previous video. Both lures are great but this one being slightly bigger and diving slightly deeper can be a better choice when searching for those really big creek bass.
Hope you enjoy the episode!

Great video as always the cormerant was funny it might be water rats eating the mussels
Thanks Stephen, I had not thought about the rats being the mussel eaters…interesting! Yeah the bloody cormorant was different 😅😂
Full adventure again, great snag country, cheeky wildlife, and a few solid hookups. What else could you wish for? 😊🤗
Thanks mate, definitely my happy place 🙂 I’m glad the cormorant wasn’t there this arvo tho 😅
Loving ya work ! Awesome to watch someone who loves a dstyle and bent minnow as much as me . From my research and experience the Bass will become fully ripened in milt and eggs when landlocked but and are often ready to spawn before reaching correct salinity if conditions allow. They will reabsorb eggs if never reaching after late spring .I believe some rarely spawn especially from upper reaches of our largest rivers .
Thanks for the comment and kind words mate. I’m glad you are enjoying the content!
Very interesting observation about the spawning process of bass, I find it quite fascinating tbh. Back in Spain (where I’m originally from) we only had American Largemouth bass but those are nowhere near as fun and challenging to catch as Aussie bass 👌🏼
Haha cheeky bird, I've had sea Eagles and kites bomb dive my lures in the salt. Awesome video mate, keep em coming
Thanks mate, yeah I caught seagulls on bent minnows, a duck on a cicada, a water dragon on a cicada, 2 freshwater turtles on Dstyle…apparently I’m good at catching weird stuff 😂🤣
@@Off_The_Top_Fishing haha I know the feeling. A catch is a catch haha
Pescas en uns llocs meravellosos. Felicitats
Gracies, si, la veritat que no em puc queixar 🙂
Another awesome video Ramon! Lots of interesting info about the winter bass and a few good tips too ( I'm certainly going to invest in a lure retriever! ). That's interesting how the bass do come back again after a missed strike in winter, I find the opposite with sooty grunter as I haven't been able to get them to have another go after missing the lure off the top. This year has been very different for me for some reason, could be due to the record flood we had at the start of the year I'm not sure. But very different patterns and fish behaviour. Lucky that cormorant let go of your lure! I've caught a few different things like turtles and snakes and whatnot, but I once hooked a large duck and it was flying around about 20m in the air peeling line before crashing back to the water. They're very powerful when hooked haha. I got it in and it went ballistic in the kayak shit going everywhere as I was getting the lure out of its beak. Bloody crazy it was. Anyway thanks for sharing mate ! 👍🎣
Far out another huge comment sorry bud 😐
Thanks mate! Yeah I caught seagulls on bent minnows and removing the hooks was a pain, best way is to cover their head with a cloth (your T-shirt for example) and they calm down. I also caught a duck that came from a long distance to eat my cicada, it did take off too and it was unstoppable!! Haha almost spools me! Fortunately that one managed to spit the lure out and I didn’t have to deal with it. I caught 2 turtles on Dstyle haha and a water dragon on a cicada too 😂 so yeah the cormorant was a bucket list species 😂🤣
Today I saw 2 eagles around (most likely kept the cormorants away which is good) but the first thing that came to my mind was ‘how TF I’d remove the hook off its beak if I caught one?’ 😂🤣
Thanks again for your support and I’m glad you are enjoying the content!
you but in some beautiful casts so they deserved fish. A guy I talk to in Ireland is a big salmo fan for trout.
Thanks mate, I just discovered them and they seem to be ticking plenty of boxes for me. At least in the waters I tried them and this time of the year they have quickly become a super confidence lure. I’m yet to not catch a fish with them in the first 4 sessions I used them, and they have produced 2 of the best bass of the season…during a period you’d be more than happy to just land dinks! Will see if the fish like them all year round
