The airplane in the opening of this video (N21GL) is NOT a Waco YMF-5, it's a Great Lakes 2T-1A-2, which is currently being offered by WACO Aircraft Corporation. The 2T-1A-1 (upgraded to the 2T-1A-2 in 1973) has been around since 1929. An aircraft that deserves its own video review. Between earning my Private Pilot Certificate and Instrument Certificate training, I took a 20-hour aerobatic course. The first 10-hours was in a Citabria (KCAB) for basic maneuvers, and then 10-hours in the Great Lakes 2T-1A-2. There are a few flight schools out there that have Great Lakes across courses. Acro flight training is as important to a novice pilot as defensive/tactical driving is to the novice automobile driver. WACO Aircraft's Great Lakes price tag starts at $269,250 - which really moves it into the "hmmm" column. If I get to the point where I just want to go out and bore some holes in the sky for an hour or two, the Great Lakes would be towards the top of my list.
You know, there actually is a company that will sell you a kit to built your own real Fokker triplane like the one Richthofen flew, I think Mike talked about it a few videos ago, I’d recommend looking into that if you want a real red baron experience
Wahhhco, Mike, it’s pronounced Wah-co not Wayco. And itt is one of the most beautiful planes ever built. And I’m sorry for my outburst, I promise to be good. Thanks 🙏 for sharing a great 👍 review of a beautiful airplane that looks like a blast to fly!
Yeah, Waco (aircraft) is pronounced as if it rhymes with “taco.” I made that mistake for a good while. Regardless, nice video! Gave a good look at beautiful airplanes.
Honestly, I never gave bi-wing planes a good look. But these planes are beautiful. I love seeing them fly. They look like birds to me. Not sure if I'd want to fly one tho. I'd like to be the camera guy in the other plane.
That is NOT being cranky nor nit-picking, that's accuracy. That's how the founders of the Weaver Aircraft Company pronounced it, so... Kinda like calling an airplanes on floats a "seaplane".
Thanks for the correction. When I was a kid, I worked at an fob that had an assortment of antiques for charter including a Cessna 195, a Staggerwing Beech, and a beautiful old Waco closed cabin biplane. I never new what model it was, but the cabin was as big as a living room. What an airplane...
I think it's amazing that planes that are derived from early 20th Century designs are still being built and flown today. And they look like a helluva lot of fun. Great video! Keep 'em coming!
nice views but, as someone pointed out, the opening airplane is NOT a WACO YMF-5 or any other WACO. And - please - "Way-co" is a place in Texas. "Whack-oh" is a crazy person. "Wah-co" is the beautiful airplanes
🎉🎉🎉 SINCE 1929 TILL TODAY 2024 AND BEYOND MOHAN'S DREAMFUL DREAM THIS VERY GOLDEN VICTORY WACO YMF 5. IZAZ RASOOL MOHAN BARIDHARA GULSHAN DHAKA BANGLADESH.
hey MJG why are you labeling that yellow great lakes as a waco ymF5? great lakes trainer and a waco ymf5 are two different aeroplanes. both built and sold by waco aircraft. get it right mate.
I would love to have one with about 500 horsepower 500 lb of torque. So that son-of-a-bitch up punch like a fighter jet. LOL not really but you get my point it'll have a lot of damn power to be as little as it is

congrats for making the AOPA magazine list of youtubers!
A beautiful classic aircraft with the new modern updates.
Is Waco the only company that will still you a brand new biplane? I'll take mine in a Red Baron paint scheme

Biplane & Floats!!! Dont see that too often! Cheers!!
I love seeing old aircrafts
Most beautiful airplane I’ve ever seen. Fantastic video!!!
❤️ beautiful. The Cessna 195B Businessliner is one of the most beautiful airplanes in my opinion
Waco rhymes with taco
Right, "wayco" is a town in Texas; "wahco" is the airplane. thanks for the photos, very cool.

Great video! Beautiful plane! Pronounce Waco to rhyme with Taco though.
Fantastic thanks
I'd love to have a brand new 2023 model like that
I used to love watching Jimmy Franklin.

...thanks Mike, agree with you....SEXY. I so like them with the floats. Makes so much sense where we are beside the River Shannon.
Beautiful
Great video again!
Please find someone with a Beech Staggerwing to let you make a video. It is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful airplanes ever made.
WoW! what a beautiful plane, I want one.
Its in microsoft flight simulator. That's the closest ill get to owning one 😅
Wow. FAA approved.
You should definitely come check out the new facility! I could give ya a tour!
I'm a cranky old nit-picker but the aircraft company is pronounced wah-co. The city in Texas is pronounced way-co.

It IS a beautiful aircraft but the most beautiful, in my opinion, is the Beech Staggerwing
Classic!
What kind of G loading can this airframe support?

Great video! Keep 'em coming!
Way-co is a city in Texas.
Wah-co is an airplane.
Wacko is the guy that owns one! (Yes, that would be me.)
Muito interessante🌟

I'm anxious to see if they'll also make a cabin biplane again.
Is it pronounced "WAH-co" or "WAY-co"?
WAH-co. I have been to the National Waco Fly-In many times and I assure you the correct pronunciation is WAH-co. WAY-co is a city in Texas.
So expensive though. I prefer to enjoy it in Flight Simulator for about $30.
hey MJG why are you labeling that yellow great lakes as a waco ymF5? great lakes trainer and a waco ymf5 are two different aeroplanes. both built and sold by waco aircraft. get it right mate.
Waco has always been sexy
It's waa-co.
I’d take the floatplane if it was about a fifth of the price
Yeah. That's called a "basket-case rebuild".
I would love to have one with about 500 horsepower 500 lb of torque. So that son-of-a-bitch up punch like a fighter jet. LOL not really but you get my point it'll have a lot of damn power to be as little as it is
That thing is ridiculous

Sorry there not real Waco's and it's pronounced Waaaaaco not Wayco we have originals at our airport.
