      @jasonspalmparadise I definitely agree mate I seen your your video with the before and after they grow so much better in the Ground. I've got a few montanas and a ovatifolia in the ground I'm in Stalybridge there doing well only 12months in the ground so still ealier days looking forward to see how they grow this summer will take the shelters off in few weeks once this rain starts to stop feels like it's rained for 8months. Keep up brilliant videos Jason 👏

      Thanks John, there has been more damage from wind and rain this winter than from cold.

    You’re a year younger than me so hopefully we both have many years to come and enjoy the palms. I’m especially jealous of the jubaea. Nice video and the new channel is really cool.

      Cheers mate I'm glad you like the new channel. Who knows in 20 years we might be growing even more tender palms outside with the changing climate. You should have a look on longcombe cross website they have some Jubaeas in.

      @@jasonspalmparadise I did actually look on their site a couple weeks ago and there was a larger jubaea for sale but on the description it describes a Cerifera so it put me off thinking I’d get the wrong palm, I ended up buying a seedling instead lol. And yea who knows what kind of things we’ll be able to grow in the future.

    I'm a new subscriber and appreciate the palm advice. I have a couple to plant into the ground. So hopefully they like their spot.

      Thanks for subscribing 😁. Palms tend to like most conditions so I'm sure they will be fine.

      @jasonspalmparadise thanks. 😀 I have a mature cordyline the height of my bedroom window. On a clay base. So hopefully the Trachy's like the change.
      I have a large butia capitata but that is in a 130L container. It is my most expensive plant ever. 🌴

      @@GardenMyselfHappy make sure the drainage is good if your on clay, one thing palms don't like is wet feet in winter. Iv seen the expensive butias, great palms.

    Great to see you try another CIDP!! One day one may survive! Will be interested to see your protection method for it, keep us updated! Tom

    • @jasonspalmparadise
      @jasonspalmparadise  9 місяців тому

      I'm hopeful that with protection it can survive 🤞 there are some big specimens around here been killed this winter, but it's worth a try

    Great vid. Like the new logo... personally I didn't like the brain one! Have three small phoenix palms and I pulled the fronds together, used fleece and then put a fleece bag over and all are okay. Outer fronds a mess but inside bits now growing

    • @jasonspalmparadise
      @jasonspalmparadise  9 місяців тому

      Cheers. The old logo was a trachy with flower pods on it, not a brain 🤣🤣. I didn't like it either. Good to know that you got them through winter. I might fleece mine as well as box it in. They grow quick so the inner fronds will soon take over 👍

    Logo an channel spot on👌👌👌👌also do you have any tips for germinating the tallest palm tree seeds ? I forget the official name there from Florida USA I think. I’ve tried in pots tried in kitchen roll an in a food bag. On top of fridge and still no luck.🍀 😂

    • @jasonspalmparadise
      @jasonspalmparadise  9 місяців тому

      Thanks 👍. I have never germinated palm tree seeds, I think a lot of them need a lot of heat. If they are from Florida I would say they need heat and humidity. I would try in a heated propagator. 🌴

    Beautiful garden. That's one expensive jubaea! Friend of mine bought a parajubea torallyi for $600, probably around 350 pound including freight. Had about 4 ft of trunk and I thought that was expensive 😃 first winter it looked a bit crook and he was spewing a bit. Now 10years on it's taller than his house.and looking fantastic.

    • @jasonspalmparadise
      @jasonspalmparadise  8 місяців тому

      Thanks,yeah some palms are crazy expensive now. A couple of years in the ground and most palms will grow away nicely.

    Hi mate there's a guy on UA-cam based in Canada (James palms) he grows loads of washingtonia's & boxes them in during winter with wooden frames with styrofoam insulation boards screwed on, then a waterproof tarp over the top. Not sure how this would work with cidp's tho 🤔 in saying that Canada etc get red hot summers vs our climate but also sub-zero winter temps.

    • @jasonspalmparadise
      @jasonspalmparadise  9 місяців тому

      Hi, i will have to have a look. I didn't think of putting insulation in there as well, would make it more likely to survive I guess. I will be getting ideas over the year and giving it a go. Thanks for letting me know 👍

  • @PalmGeezer
    @PalmGeezer 9 місяців тому +1

    The jubaea trunk is what will be your problem mate it gets huge!!! It will hit that fence before the fronds even start. I don't know if that's the start of the hut?

    • @jasonspalmparadise
      @jasonspalmparadise  9 місяців тому

      That's the hut not a fence. By the time the Jubaea gets a trunk that big the hut will have probably rotted away 😂 it will have all the space it needs then

    • @PalmGeezer
      @PalmGeezer 9 місяців тому +1

      @@jasonspalmparadise haha thats very true! As long as you know and dont plan to put a hut there again in the future 👍🏼
