If someone deserved to qualify that is Croatia and Czechia. Thank you Nina and Gabriela for reminding us what real music is all about. Simple staging, yet beautiful, mesmerising performances... And thank you Europe for recognizing that!

I wish it did, then the lovely song would have been the focal point of the performance instead of that glittery road kill (a poor duck tangled up in aluminum foil and suffocated?) she is wearing. I am also glad the viewers recognized that this is a fantastic act, dispite the dress. Love her!

+Johann Dallan me too, i am saying it also, not just because i am hungarian..., for me the best one is armenia - or (latvia), but hungary sent the most spectacular, and talented boy so far. It is about visuals as i see.... - Freddy sad in an interview that the crew had sent the visual plan to Sweeden, but they did not make it (i dont know why?) , so Freddy need to bear theese visual effects.,,,,and make the best of it

TBH i reallllly don't understand why you dislike Hungary so much? His vocals were extremely similar to the studio version and the performance looked amazing. He brought a song, with a nice performance with the focus being on the raw emotions, lyrics and voice with NO gimmicks. Any one i ask say Hungary was one of their faves. He is also 3rd highest viewed semi final performance on the eurovision channel. I really think you are incredibly underestimating him.

It's So upsetting Iceland and Estonia didn't reach the finals. They were in my top 5. I think there's something we don't know about it yet... haha xD

I don't think wiwibloggs liked Estonia this year, never really been very positive about him. My personal favourite overall though - although my favourite last year was Portugal, so that goes to show how 'bad' I am at picking favourites!

I am really gutted that Iceland didn't qualify, but there is no need to take it out on Malta. I believe Malta deserve their spot and deserve to win! Malta have been my favourite all year, and they just fell into 11th place in their semifinal last year, when Amber deserved to qualify. Better luck next year Iceland, and I hope that Greta returns, so that she can qualify next year and take the position in the final, that she deserves.

Freddie from Hungary not only delivered a great performance, he actually bared his soul to the audience. It was raw, powerful and uplifting. A rare moment at Eurovision - no wonder you guys missed it, you must have been too busy admiring the spaceman and some pretty pictures.

I was shocked to see Iceland not qualifying! I was so satisfied and happy that we didn't qualify I am actually happy that we aren't going to the final (Greece). I loved Hungary and Austria.

I don't agree with you at all, I really like Croatian entry and I can't imagine a final without Nina! After Sweden's win from last year, there are many weird and "sophisticated" visualisations on stage this year. That's why Russian performance and also Iceland are not my taste...

I really like Armenia and Russia but there is a special charm about Austria, an incredibly empowering feel to Czech Republic and a James Arthur/sexy side to Hungary. All deserve their places........apart from Azerbaijan !

I would like to point out that although William seems to be dissing Malta he isn't. If you look back through the wiwi posts you can see that he was an avid fan of Iceland and he always stands up for Malta usually, i guess he was just pissed that Iceland didn't qualify and being that Malta was the last one to be announced he put his anger towards Malta. as for Edd I don't know what his deal is because he did give Malta 10/10 in the wiwireviews! ( If i were to swap I would swap Iceland with Azerbaijan )
Croatia 100% deserved final, Nina has a beautiful voice and that is more important than visual effects. Iceland is not passed in final, ok but you can not blame Croatia for that...
Hungary deserved to qualify, but these men are envious. He has a unique voice, a great song, full of energy.
You guys are mean to Hungary (except for Edd). Freddie was brilliant & "Pioneer" is my favourite song. I would like Iceland to go to the final. I would boot The Netherlands. "Slow Down" was better on stage but still not a Top 10 song. So happy for Czech Republic. What happened to Malta? Great song but crap staging.
Once and for all, Malta did not take Iceland's place! Both of them deserved to be in the final. Iceland should have taken the place of Croatia, Austria, Netherlands or Cyprus. And I really do not understand what people are seeing in Russia's song. The song itself is very normal and nothing outstanding... the visual affects just play it up. In my opinion, Armenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Malta slayed it. I am very sorry B&H did not make it to the final!!!
I am quite pleased with the qualifiers. Hungary and The Netherlands were my favourites on the night. However if I could I would replace Croatia and Czech Republic with Iceland and Estonia. But overall I am pleased. The Netherlands were my biggest surprise. I wasn't that keen on the song before tonight but Douwe Bob killed it on stage!

The one that I'm most surprised that qualified was the Czech Republic! I'm honestly so happy that Gabriela qualified it sorta makes up for Greta failing....but I'm still really upset about Iceland

What the heck, take out Hungary, are you kidding?! Freddie is so much better vocally than some over-hyped others that are fan-favorites because they are trying to buy the audience with visuals. He's a humble sweet guy with an amazing voice and a great message, with a song that has so much POWER, and y'all want him out. Of course, some countries are never interesting for anyone (including Hungary), so we sh*t on the act and ignore him completely. You know what, I hope he wins. I've waited for this video and I'm very happy that you've started with Iceland. I think that you've intentionally forgotten about Azerbaijan and there's no wonder because her performance was so bad. If I had the chance to replace one country I would've taken Azerbaijan out and put Iceland in the Grand Final. You're the happiest guys on the Earth and you really slay and kill it!!! ;3

I think what happened with Iceland is that it came right after Montenegro, and many people probably couldn't stand Montenegro's song and didn't want to see another act with dark aesthetics and musicality. On the flipside, Austria probably made a very positive impression on people who didn't like Cyprus. It doesn't surprise me that Armenia qualified but I really don't get the hype around it. I thought Hungary was great!

I would replace Azerbaijan with Iceland, Samra has great song but vocals were not on point and Greta was absolutely amazing.
Had Azerbaijan or any other country been the 10th to qualify, Malta wouldn't have even been brought up. For all you know Malta could very well have come 1st, 2nd or 3rd but because the random order saw her announced last, she's getting hate. Absolutely makes my blood boil.

Personally I wasn't surprised Iceland didn't make it. in fairness I'm not a huge fan of the song, which just sounds disorganized to me, but also the graphics on the screen didn't seem to line up for most of the performance - which is a problem when you're relying on "stunning" visuals that ended up not matching Russia or Armenia. I'm not a huge fan of Malta's visuals but the song was catchy, so I'd score them a touch higher than Iceland on the margin.
2 things I took away from tonight was how professional Armenia looked and how poor Frances vocals were.

I said on twitter straight after Greta performed that Iceland have a good chance of winning this year, I just had a feeling about it, I was absolutely speechless at the result! apart from that I was reasonably happy with the result but I would of swapped Hungary out for Moldova, Freddie's song isn't bad but his voice sounds like if sandpaper could sing, god it hurts your ears! I have loved Lidia's song since the first moment I heard it, pure pop pleasure! and last night was her best performance vocally of the song to date, I felt really proud of her! she deserved another chance. I also wanted Estonia to get through and I must say I am rather surprised it didn't qualify, I thought especially with the juries it would of done well, I wasn't THAT taken with it on first listen but it definitely grew on me, disappointed it won't be in the final. Czech Republic absolutely KILLED it! absolutely faultless, beautiful performance vocally, blew me away! Croatia was amazing also, another faultless performance. Lots of positives but a few negatives from last night, I also wasn't taken with Malta, Ira you looked stunning but I'm sorry I'm not a fan of your song at all.... Glad my two favourites Russia and Azerbaijan got through!!!!!! roll on tomorrow night now!
Several songs which I hadn't been a fan of truly impressed me and made my top 10...Hungary had a wonderful presence, and for me it was the first song in the competition that came on strong. Montenegro was sexy, and the harmonies were an unexpected and beautiful surprise. Cyprus was also sexy and soulful. But Armenia...wow.. After watching the press conference, the 1st performance I wanted to re-watch was Armenia's. Only drawback to Armenia is it's not a song I'd sing along to. Totally agree it's Russia and Armenia at the top. Also disappointed to not see Iceland in the final. Bosnia/Herzegovina was wonderful, theirs is the flavor which draws me into Eurovision every year. Glad to see Czech Republic shine. Netherlands had an effortless, fun feel. Expected to be disappointed by Azerbaijan, but somehow she pulled out a much improved and worthy live performance. Moldova and her astronaut failed to impress me. Never understood the hype around Estonia, so its failure to qualify seemed right to me.
5 of my 6 favourites made yay I loved ( Croatia, Malta, The Netherlands, Austria and Czech Republic) poor Iceland should have made it though, I thought that they were going to reveal San Marino as a shock qualifier though but overall I'm so happy only if we could swap Azerbaijan for Iceland and I'd be even happier

I still don't get why people are fixating on Nina's dress. I mean, we got people that can't sing and they come to Eurovision and actually qualify to finals, and you guys talk about that damn dress like it's the most important thing on Eurovision. I don't agree with the guy on the left that said you need to have the whole package. Jesus, Bosnia had to collect donations to go to Stockholm guys. You really think it's fair to judge someone based on ther appearance, their dresses and the effects on the stage? If so, we'll only have winners from 4-5 states that can invest in a competition like this, Eurovision should be about something else. Great job wrecking what it's all about...
+Ste Co Couldn't agree more. I thought that the main point of singing competition was the song and voice, but it looks like the visual representation is far more important and that is really sad. Some not so good songs and voices went to final just because of the visual effects. :/ Nina did magnificent job, quite unique song and out of this world voice. Most of the others songs are like any other pop song, after watching the semi finals I didn't remember any of them because they are nothing special and already seen million times.

I don't get what you're talking about. There was a huge round of applause after Ira Losco's performance and she is definitely amongst the top 3 from this semi final and even throughout this year's Eurovision. Swopping Malta with someone else would be such a bad decision.
Yeah, Malta definitely deserved to qualify. Austria is the weakest song that qualified imo.
I am not one who likes to comment but I really have to say this , I voted for Iceland last night,for me it should have qualified, but what has Malta got to do with Iceland not qualifying? Seriously sometimes you ve got to control the crap u say ! I would have exchanged other songs for Iceland but definitly not Malta.

Iceland was such a shock, we wont know why till after the competition and it will be interesting to find out what did go wrong.

I actually didn't like Iceland very much but when I heard her live it did grow on me a bit.
And although I understand that Russia is a fan favourite this year, I feel like 80% of their votes came from people who went "WOW! HE'S CLIMBING ON A GREEN SCREEN WITH COOL CUBES!" and barely any people actually enjoyed the song for what it is.
Armenia was, without a shadow of a doubt, My favourite Semi Final 1 song, It's powerful, strong, catchy, she burned the competition when she was on stage, I loved every moment of it.

I feel like the reason Greta didn't get through because of the staging. It's so dark. The song is great but the staging is so dark it was hard to get any feel for it. I was there for the first time and I'm happy with most of the qualifier.
