I think this might be one of the first truly sympathetic antagonist we've seen in Fire Emblem Heroes. Gullvieg was a catastrophe, make no mistake, but she was a victim as well. That so-called king released the curse with the intention of exterminating humanity. She didn’t want to do it, but she couldn’t stop herself either. At first we would assume that it was Nerthuz who provided the solution, but she was only half of it. Gullvieg gave the weapon that Nerthuz blessed to herself in the past who would then give it to us in a cycle that she created by choice in the silent hope of ending her own. It really is tragic. Kvasir's only sin was existing and we still had to kill her for it, and Gullvieg was a broken soul trapped in an endless loop of loss and despair. Her only hope was for a death she prayed would come some day; and yet they both accepted this ending. They accepted Seithor as the heritor of the dreams they both failed to realize. This just might have been Heroes' best story

You know what I just realized…? In Book V, Reginn’s epithet is “Bearing Hope” and her Special Skill is called Seiðr Shell. And Seiðr according to her epithet is the “Goddess of Hope”. Also the technology mentioned in Book V is seiðjárn. Is it really just coincidence that Reginn and Seiðr are known for their hope and that the technology used in Book V uses Seiðr’s name in it? Also, in Chapter 9 of that same book Reginn goes to the Tower of Niðavellir and hears a mysterious voice. Could that voice Reginn heard have been Seiðr herself? My theory is that there is more to this than they are telling us. I think this whole new story will also reveal some hidden truths about not just Book IV, but Book V as well. I definitely believe Reginn as well as the álfar (possibly?) will have a significant role to play in this new story (Ascended/Rearmed Reginn?). …But that’s just my guess.
I agree with the Reginn part. I thought this while trying to summon Seith (I don't have the letter so I'll use the name in the shareena thing). But then I realized Seith doesn't look that- technologic, but maybe another goddess from Vanaheim has to do with it.

I was hoping that Book 7 would be Asgard because I thought we had finally run out of nine realms to make and that Ymir would just replace Vanaheimr or something, especially since Book 6 focused on worldbuilding Midgard as opposed to a new realm. But Book 7 apparently has a few "callbacks" to Book 4 (to put it without spoilers), so I'm still excited.
Major "I can still fix everything" vibes from Gullveig. Calling it now, she's obsessed with the past and rewriting history. Seidr is the hope of the future.
My theory is that Heiđr is actually the sand mage, and Seiđr is the pink haired goat lady in the trailer. Goat lady sealed them bothand their memories to keep them safe for the future, but then Gullveig breaks her seal (likely through time fuckery), wanting to properly live and likely lashing out at whoever sealed her. That's just my theory though, based solely on tiaras and hair and gems in foreheads Edit: chapter 5 specifically had Seiđr call out the other two goats we know of and said "yeah I'm related to those two" immediate confirmation.

As for motivations, I don't really think anything we've learned changes what I think about Gullveig. I haven't played the book midpoint chapter yet though. It's still confusing about what exactly the summoner and Seidr did. They created Kvasir? Idk. Time travel is hard to do right and FEH already has a ton of plot inconsistencies from previous books.

We see 5, 6, and 7 as well, and maybe 8 (I haven't opened the game today so I'll have to check) before getting sent backwards to chapter 2, where we chase Kvasir into the castle in a time before Seiðr went into his service. And Seiðr likely wouldn't have allowed to search for a cure for Heiðr (too dangerous on her own) without the summoner and the Askrans showing up. So it's a possibility that Gullveig poisoned Heiðr intentionally to set these events in motion. But this is just speculation. My boyfriend is heavy into norse mythology, and thinks Seiðr is going to be burned into ashes until she can't regenerate ever again, as FEH seems to be following norse mythology with their story.

Just noticed a little artwork touch while listening, Gullveig has her hands wrapped around a broken infinity-like symbol. Additionally, it's broken on Alfonse's side and not Heiðr's.

So in the story, Gullveig came from the distant future to attack Askr and Embla with her army of (presumably) Emblian soldiers, also from the future. What if Gullveig is actually Heidr in the future? We see in the opening cutscene that Heidr is clearly being corrupted by something, which could be Gullveig's doing, but what if she is actually transforming INTO Gullveig? Gullveig could have come back to this time not just to fight Askr but also to ensure that Heidr becomes her, preserving the timeline in the way she wants. Also, I know it's a small detail, but their head crystal things are also the same, and Heidr's is clearly becoming more golden/amber-colored. Has anyone else thought of this yet? I'm guessing probably, but if so I haven't seen that yet.
I agree. I think Heidr becomes Gullveig after being attacked/possessed/contracted by the World Serpent, and we’ll need to go back in time to kill Heidr (maybe, even erase her from this world) before she turns into Gullveig.

With what the opening movie shows, as well as Heidr being an alternate name for Gullveig in Norse mythology, I also feel like the Heidr becomes Gullveig transformation is what's gonna happen in the story.
At last, Vanaheimr and the Vanir have been properly introduced in FEH, with the revelation that Freyr and Freyja from Book IV are indeed Vanir, just like in the myths. Until this music gets an official title, I'll call this one, "Light of the Vanir."
Certainly a mystifying feel. Almost something out of Xenoblade Chronicles. Gullveig certainly feels a lot more intimidating than some other villains we fought. We beat back demons, undead, dark elves, dwarves, giants, and even other gods. But now we're up against somebody that can control time. Under normal circumstances, we'd be screwed. But I'm willing to see how the story plays out on how we defeat Gullveig.
Also if she can bend time to her will I think the goddess of land might betray us so her children get revived unless her telling sharena to remind her she animal is what convinces her backstab gullveig
Spoliers ... That Freyr clone tells Seidr to kill Heidr just for the curse to disappear, only for killing Heidr to be a waste! And then Seidr says she is Kvasir in the past and Gullveig from the future, so they travel time and Seidr kills Kvasir, then to the future and they kill Gullveig!
Is it just me or does this sorta kinda give off Super Mario Galaxy vibes? Also I love how much they keep going into the whole time thing with this book. With Gullveig controlling sand (rinds me of the sands of time) and there being this whole thing with time travel, taking us into a book that is for the first time out of order in numbered chapters, and the bells you can hear in this track really reminding me of clock tower bells
Hopefully the time theme will give the Askr trio a major buff (like they all get ascended or legendary alts). Maybe they'll travel back in time and each find some ancient weapons needed to kill the villain of this book. This theme competes with Book 2,3, and 5 for my favourite map theme. I think it may be my fave. Its so calming at first but has an unsettling and uneasy presence like book 4 like something isn't right. Imagine resplendent attire from this book when they do that? It'll look sick!
i mean we still don't have the Fire Emblem. my guess is Kiran's divine weapon will become the Fire Emblem. something has happened to it in just about every realm so far
I used to believe that Book V has the best soundtrack, and then Book VII hit me on so hard especially with how the overall tune sounded--it has the time travel theme etched onto it. It doesn't matter what others think about Book VII story-wise, but the music of Book VII has become my favorite now. It goes away from the usual action-esque music of every other Book beginning II until VI prior to VIII's return to the hype.
I'm getting major Xenoblade vibes from this. We the summoner get a Vison like Shulk does, the theme of the map screams otherwordly force that is trying to stay in the past. While the theme is really good, I'm more looking forward to seeing what this new villian is all about and why time is the vibe we are getting for this book.
Fun fact the characters are based off of Norse mythology. The sorcerer in this that reminds time. She was apparently burned and killed heidr 3 times but she kept coming back to life. All three of the new characters are based on Norse mythology even book 5 was too.
When book 4 ended, i wonder myself how can they top it (in terms of mindblowing / out of the world stuff), book 5 definetly was not it. But book 7 on the other hand is the long awaited dope
Book 4 was great imo just the ending was anticlimactic just like all the books in this game. Book 2 was hands down the worst book for me, but book 3 still my favorite lol.

Mirabilis being added to the plot and doing pretty much nothing, the entire Sharena plot meaning nothing and having no importance, and the Peony and Triadra siblings situation being poorly explored... Yeah, I can't find a way to say that book was good. Most people I know that liked that Book was because they like fairies.

I think it may be my fave. Its so calming at first but has an unsettling and uneasy presence like book 4 like something isn't right. Imagine resplendent attire from this book when they do that? It'll look sick!

I used to believe that Book V has the best soundtrack, and then Book VII hit me on so hard especially with how the overall tune sounded--it has the time travel theme etched onto it. It doesn't matter what others think about Book VII story-wise, but the music of Book VII has become my favorite now. It goes away from the usual action-esque music of every other Book beginning II until VI prior to VIII's return to the hype.

I'm getting major Xenoblade vibes from this. We the summoner get a Vison like Shulk does, the theme of the map screams otherwordly force that is trying to stay in the past. While the theme is really good, I'm more looking forward to seeing what this new villian is all about and why time is the vibe we are getting for this book.
Fun fact the characters are based off of Norse mythology. The sorcerer in this that reminds time. She was apparently burned and killed heidr 3 times but she kept coming back to life. All three of the new characters are based on Norse mythology even book 5 was too.

Mirabilis being added to the plot and doing pretty much nothing, the entire Sharena plot meaning nothing and having no importance, and the Peony and Triadra siblings situation being poorly explored... Yeah, I can't find a way to say that book was good. Most people I know that liked that Book was because they like fairies.
