my father served on the Burza than the Błyskawica. (engine room ) proud of my father and his ship...god bless both.
Blyskawica, born in England, raised in Poland.
Similar to Mikasa. Born in England, raised in Japan
A testament to our British shipbuilding prowess, and the braver of the Polish sailors.
Well said
This has to be my favorite Naval Legends of all time. During the War, these ships were independent Poland and during the attack on her shipyard, she stood firm and defended her independence. There's just something heroically poetic about that whole sequence of events. Just astonishing, amazing!
Alex Smith you can say that this is Poland in nutshell
Alex Smith 1000 times better than Mikhail Kutuzov naval legends, like that thing had no history and I didn't even know it existes
@Alex Smith For more poetry, I advise to study more of Polish history ;)
I like how the museum director mentions Poland being partitioned between Nazi Germany and Soviet Union, but they totally skip that part. #RussianBiasStronk.
(around 7:40: "...kiedy Polska była już pod okupacją niemiecką, zajęta częściowo przez wojska rosyjskie..." - "...when Poland was already under German ocupation, partially occupied by Russian forces...")
Amazing ship, sad that the Polish sailors instead of being treated like heroes were imprisoned and killed.
Or forced to live their lives in exile.
some of the most decorated soldiers were polish !!!!!
While blame that stupid Stalin
I hate ZSRR. PRL was the worst time of my country. Pole
Fun Fact: The commander of ORP Błyskawica, capt. Francki kept the destroyer armed in the docks which was against naval regulations. He was even officially denied his request to keep the vessel armed. He disobayed the regulations, good for the ship (which probably would be sank otherwise) and even better for Cowes.
Salute to you, Poland.
Orcas 101 thank you
Love from Poland ;]
🙂👍🏼
Thx
And remember their Contributions to the War Effort, the Polish Troops that managed to escape to Hungary and Romania would end up fighting with the British, when the Soviets entered Berlin, the Polish were with them, the Tank Division that Duked it out with the Soviets with 14TPs(I think?),would end up on Normandy,in Shermans, the Polish Sailors the Polish Warships(Błyskawica,Burza,Orzeł,and another ship I forgot)that managed to escape to Britain would serve valiantly, the Warsaw Uprising where Warsaw was raised, the Polish Squadron that fought at the Battle of Britain, and so much more
Yes Poland is the best niech żyje Polska
It's nice to see that Polish sailors fighting alongside the Royal Navy are finally getting a little acknowledgment. Their sad situation at the end of the WWII is best summed up by the speech of their commander-in-chief Vice-Admiral Jerzy Swirski, given on the 24th September 1946:
"In the war we were the first to stand at the side of our British Allies and it was with complete confidence that we gave all our moral and material help. We fulfilled our duties faithfully, as allies to the very end. The personnel of the British Navy, who were our trusty comrades and on whom we could always rely in all operations and circumstances, are witnesses to this. But the battles and hardships have not given us the results which we expected from this war. Our Country continues to remain in a political situation which prevents the majority of us from returning to Poland.
We shall shortly cease to be a Navy, however, the knowledge of the complete fulfillment of our duties towards Poland as well as towards our Allies brightens the bitterness of our reality. We are not the debtors, as will be seen when the Allies close their accounts.
Continuing to be united by a strong ideological tie - we, the naval family will continue to live and work for Poland, believing that in the end we shall regain our Country and that the majority of us will offer their services to the navy in a free Poland. At present, we are temporarily living through the end of our naval activity. May the good God take care of us all and may He spare us suffering and disillusion and may He lead us back to a free Poland. Long live Poland!"
Few of them lived long enough to see free Poland.
As a Hungarian... I feel like its sort of duty to buy this ship ingame :)
Jako Polak muszę podziękować koledze i wszystkim Węgrom za braterstwo.
We love you guys so very much, it’s hard to wrap up with words. I salute the Hungarian Nation, the British Nation, the American Nation, and the French Nation. To your bravery, your fighting prowess, to your unshaken morality and in the name of our everlasting friendship.
HAIL HYDRA!!
@@bratbrata4974 Ja też jestem Polakiem.
Shut up nazzi bootlicker
Po raz pierwszy zobaczylem ORP "Blyskawica" kiedy mialem jakies 10 lat, moze mniej. Teraz ogladajac ten material zadaje sobie pytanie jak ten czas szybko przeminal. Ja mam juz 37, siwizna sie pojawia a "Blyskawica" lsni nowoscia w swoich 82 latach historii. I dziekuje panu Boguslawowi Woloszanskiemu i kazdemu, ktory przylaczyl sie do jego apelu o ratowanie "Blyskawicy" wtedy i dzis, azeby ten piekny okret i piekna jego historia pozostala jak najdluzej zywa. Dziekuje Wam!
Can I just say that I absolutely ADORE the fact that you're going to such great lengths to honour the memory of these ships and their sailors? And all of this from a Game Developer? I've learned more about Warships from your channel than I have in the entire rest of my life. Thank you!
Except the moments where they ignore russian participation in the war...or elevate the "Glorious soviet shipbuilding" without mentioning that they couldn´t even make armor plates for their battleship projects
The most inspiring thing is how well they keep her. They talk about the cleanliness when she was in service but even now she looks in excellent condition. It's sad to think of how the USS Texas is rusting away...If there were ever a serious attempt to crowdfund Texas' drydocking I'd invest.
Matthew Blom Texas is also well over 100 years old
It's also a freaking Battleship. Way more things than a Destroyer.
In Poland we strongly respect our history That is why Blyskawica is like a new ship. I have seen her - clean, not a smallest spot of rust, everything is in the best condition.
Matthew Blom. that's due to state government of Texas being cheap, gotta pay for those churches and republican rallies, if they wanted the hearts of the people restoring and keeping the ship up for state pride would be more effective. but hey ego is a big issue there and republican god wills it trump fuck yeah shit
Oh get lost you liberal troll. At least we are responsible with our money unlike debt ridden Illinois.
Forgot to mention that Poland was also attacked by the Soviet Union forcing Poland to attempt a defense on two fronts, something France did not have to deal with.
Russian torpedos in polish ship... Lol
That's why the jokes are always about the French surrendering and not Poland.
No. You forgot to watch to watch the whole thing before commenting. It is clearly said that at 12:47 that some of the officers were send to Siberia. How could the Soviets send Polish sailors there if they didnt invade?
@@Paciat they know but they don't wanna mention it and acknowledge the fact that they made an alliance with the Germans.
@@SebaX92 Just as Britain dosnt want to mention 20 years of appeasement politics towards Germany. When after WWI Poland wanted to get ethnically mixed rich in coal parts of Silesia, Loyd George said "Giving it to Poles is like giving a gold watch to a monkey". And they created a myth that French want reparations just out of revenge for the previous war.
Be proud Polish navy this was a great learning experience for me. I truly love learning about other naval powers.
Poland got screwed HARD in WW 2 first the German invasion running around being Nazis then after the Polish fighters were run into the ground Stalin shows up. Lost sovereignty for decades to Soviet Union, but kept fighting and helped put a end to Soviet occupation of Eastern Europe. A lot to be proud of
Yeah well, we are the most stubborn people in the world. For good, and for bad.
Now if Putin would only give -Kaliningrad- Königsberg to Poland...
Putin may give you the one in Sweden if you ask nice
AltearexGamingYT Implying Königsberg wasn't German.
I am well aware it was German at one point in time. However, that land was controlled by Poland before Prussia was even formed. Additionally, the German government of today would never accept land because it "has German-speaking people" as that is exactly what Hitler did to gain land initially.
It's funny when you hear people say one thing while being translated into another :P
It's very surprising that 'polish' government didn't turn her into razor blades, but instead turned her into a museum ship. Very surprising.
I could watch WG CG clips all day.
I wonder if we will see Blyskawica in the Dunkirk movie and too bad we cant use her in Operation Dynamo.
As a brit I am honoured to have supplied a ship to such brilliant sailors.
HMCS Haida was in the same flotilla as Blyskawica. It would be nice to see a video and a premium ship for sale in WoWs honoring Poland's Canadian comrades in arms... ☺
Wargaming is currently filming a Naval Legends episode for HMCS Haida and it's likely she will be a premium, so don't worry.
RelativeGalaxy7 oh Yeah? How did you learn this?
Got any links to share? I'd love any news you're willing to share ☺
ElectroVeeDub that would be awesome WG! also, great idea m8! give the man a pancake and some maple syrup!
I’m waiting for this ship man! How immensely awesome will it be to finally sail both of them in a team. Those two are meant to be together, at last!
Canadians including Haidas Crew Pronounce Blyskawica's Name as Bottle of Whiskey
Nice video. Respect to Poland from USA. 🇺🇸❤🇵🇱
*9:16** Best moment*
7:37 deputy director Trawicki says that Polish teritory was partially ocupied by Germans and partially taken by Russians, but Wargaming lector skips that part...lol
meanwhile ingame, the AA is so INEFFECTIVE to shoot down any planes at all
could you not make me cry ev3ry time I watch Naval Legends?
Thank you to enclose "ORP Blyskawica" in your series of amazing videos.
I bought it to honor those who crewed her. She’s a cool ship but stands for a lot more than just decent in game play. She was allowed to have Polish crews, with a Polish captain while fighting the Nazis along side the allies. Pretty awesome if you ask me. I’m Slovenian so I’m not sure that counts lol
What a great video, my great grandfather was the commander of the Błyskawica during WWII. So great to learn more about the history!
At long last...I know how to pronounce it's name.
yep same
Ahm, well, not exactly... they mispronounced it. Although it was more to do with accent than anything.
Don't feel bad though, Polish is a b*** of a language even for those who speak it.
(Silent b)wis-Ka - wis- ka
Canadian Explorer well I don’t speak polish at all but I do know that the Ł is pronounced as a W.
Alex Klyce oh yeah your right!
don't forget Poland was also attacked by the soviets, wargaming
They cant say it
Putin would get them shot
XD
stfu hamburger
WG won't mention that. It would make their Russian overlords look like the bad guys. Which they were.
lanefamily0508 Wargaming is a Belarussian company
This ship has a very special place to the people in the town nearby - Cowes - after it's defence of the town against a German bombing raid in 1942.
I learn more from wg videos than from history channel. good job wg.
I am very honored and grateful of my Polish ancestry. This is an amazing ship with an amazing history.
This thing is quick, seriously quick. Still quick by today’s standards. A proper destroyer.
Wow, great mini-documentary guys, I really enjoy these! And I would LOVE to see her, with her current commander, in a Supercontainer. Just sayin'. :)
Błyskawica is indeed a True Hero.
All hail WWII Blyskawica! Great ship, great crew!
Fun Fact:ORP Błyskawica was the very same Destroyer that trolled the Bismarck(you know, that Polish Destroyer that signal-lighted
" *I AM A POLE* " at Bismarck while she fired)
:) no Błyskawica but ORP Piorun another Polish destroyer found Bismarck and led the British fleet at him
This is one beautiful Destroyer
Absolutely beautiful warship
Blyskawicas perhaps finest hour, when she charged Bismarck sending light (morse) signals "I am Pole". Respect.
I had no idea she was still around! I want this ship! It would look really nice to have in my port!
Your Port?
This ship is, and will be in Gdynia
Yeah you know how you get your own port to keep ships you unlock in game. It’s not an actual port lol
Best tier 7 DD ever, my beloved little bote that could
Awesome ship IRL. Awesome ship in-game. Love this ship
The Isle of wight, especially cowes owes a lot to this ship and the navy that protected it.
Part of my heritage is polish and when is saw this the morning it came out I was shocked and to see this again made me rennet that Poland was put a gun at its throat it did not deserve multiple times and as a world of warships player makes me wish there was a polish line and that I have the ship in game
Built by J S Whites shipyard at Cowes, Isle of Wight along with her sister ship Grom which was sunk at Narvick. The ship is of riveted construction, very good condition and well worth a visit.
I'm so proud to own this girl in wows.
Fun fact: Błyskawica and HMS Cavalier are the last surviving warships that were built by the J.S. White and Sons shipyard in East Cowes in the Isle of Wight.
They forgot to mention that Polish fought against Nazi German and Soviet Russia from 1939 as they agreed to wage war on free nations of eastern Europe together in Ribentrop-Molotov pact. Still a movie very well made. GJ WG.
Look at how nice they take care of their museum ship……
Heartbreaking to hear how Stalin murdered some of these heroes.
Question - Boilers temperature is 200 degrees, Celsius or Fahrenheit?
N4Destruction Celsius
I could make a very nice pizza in there
Is that trumpet playing a midi file? That thing sounds like a 90's website
Huh. I'm considering purchasing this
Its nice to see the Poles take pride and keep her so pampered and beautiful. Then you look at the Kutuzov by comparison its like a comparing a beautiful young polish girl to some stereotypical old Russian farmer woman 😆
Definitely need to visit Poland just to see her
The polish version of the Last Ship
Fun fact błyskawica means Lighting in polish
7:35 you forgot to translate part of the sentence where guy speaks about German and SOVIET occupation. You chose to translate into English only part about German occupation. Interesting... :)
Yea...
Interesting
interesting fact: Blyskawica means Lightning in Polish. and it replaced HMS Lightning after it was sunk.
Well Błyskawica it mean Lightnig Grom " thet one whose was search and destroy mission on Bismark
Good thing no one will see this but I'm bad at botes
Fine looking ship.
I love World Of Warships, :D
This ship is amazing I love it. Bescue I m a pole and this ship is legend.
I have To go see that awsome destroyer!!!!!!!!!!!
It's interesting to see just how much time has changed modern warships. 114m isn't that far off the 120-130m standards for modern frigates, yet these old destroyers could never be able to mount a comparable armament to a modern frigate, let alone a modern destroyer. Though with the direction the world is heading, there may soon be a need to reintroduce mass-produced tin cans with a small missile armament...
They were also fighting against the evil forces of Stalin's Communist invasion. 17 September 1939.
finally Metric system
Weird since the British used Imperial at this time.
i meant in the videos
Also strange of you to mention since this is the NA channel and there is an Eu channel that uses metric exclusively. (I know other countries exist in the NA region besides the US but my fellow Americans would've probably thrown a hissy fit if the American ships were done in metric, thus why WG used the Imperial system here until now).
so fuck us rest of "America" right? good job there
I use "America" as a shorthand for the USA, if it bothers you South Americans that much, then why don't you join us and overthrow those evil dictators (That we put in power)?!?
In all seriousness, lighten up, it's a the easiest way for my countrymen to refer to themselves instead of saying: "Citizens of the U.S."
She is one tough ship! 🇵🇱👍
HMCS Haida please
Yet in game this ship's AA doesn't do anything versus planes.
Her 7 120mm main guns were replaced by 8 102mm DP guns in a 1941 refit, and her 13.2mm guns were replaced by 4 20mm Oerlikons.
WOWs only shows her in her 1937 hull, not he 1941 hull. Some people have suggested to include it as an option, which would essentially make her a tier VII Akizuki.
Matthew Lum I think people like the 7 120mms more
I don't have much of an issue with them either, except for the huge OCD trip turret A gives me.
The 102mm guns would make her much more competent against other DDs, given their better traverse rate and much higher ROF. In addition with her high speed and excellent durability, it would make Blys one of the best DD killers at its tier. It would be lacking against BBs unless you pick the right captain specs, however, and range would likely suffer as I'm quite sure the 120mm guns had a larger caliber barrel than the 102mm guns. So it would be a matter of what role you want to play.
When Naval Legends in Wargaming Europe with polish subtitles?
Błyskawica was at Dunkirk? Did they bring it back for the film or is it not seaworthy anymore?
The Germans may have taken their country but that only made the polish fight harder. If I was in a fight I would love to have a polish next to me
yay, metrical system!
D Stevens couse metrical is better
I wonder what happened to that ship during the Soldarity Movement of 1989?
Just shows that we have the spirit, just lack funds as usual in our history...

They are used frequently in these clips, but I never managed to find this out. :(
do you can put subs in spanish(Mexico) pls?
The German bombers at Cales:
Omfg DD AA OP plz nerf wtf
That is one weird sounding trumpet...
God bless Poland
Nice doc!!
Nicely avoided facts that USSR also occupied polish territory.
We need the 1960s refit of Blyskawica. AA Destroyer lol
So would you say this is the USS Missouri of the polish or the USS Texas?
It was older the the war and turned into one of the first museums for the Polish (like Texas for Americans) but it served long past the war like Missouri.
Vote now witch you think
ORP Błyskawica (Bohater)
Well... as always DDs come out on top Their built for the Kill :3
