Important ancient Bharat texts detailing mathematical knowledge are Sūrya Prajñapti (4th or 3rd century BCE), Jambu Dwīpa Prajñapti (4th or 3rd century BCE), Sthānāṅga Sūtra (2nd-1st century BCE), Uttarādhyayana Sūtra (2nd-1st century BCE), Bhagavatī Sūtra (2nd-1st century BCE), and Anuyoga Dvāra Sūtra (2nd-1st century BCE). The Sthānāṅga Sūtra divides the study of mathematics under ten different sections: parikarma, vyavahāra, rajju, rāśi, kalāsavarṇa, yāvat-tāvat, varga, ghana, varga-varga and vikalpa. Parikarma dealt with simple arithmetic calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; vyavahāra with advanced arithmetic; rajju with geometry; rāśi with mensuration; kalāsavarṇa with fractions; yāvat-tāvat with linear equations, varga with quadratic equations; ghana with cubic equations; varga-varga with biquadratic equations; and vikalpa with permutations and combinations. Ancient Bharatiyas divided numbers into three types: enumerable, innumerable and infinite. Anuyoga Dvāra Sūtra describes five types of infinity: infinite in one direction, infinite in two directions, infinite in area, infinite everywhere, and infinite perpetually. The distinction between different types of infinities such as countable infinity (e.g. integers, rational numbers) and uncountable infinity (e.g. real numbers) was proposed by Georg Cantor in 1883. Indians had proposed similar ideas nearly 2,000 years before Cantor. Anuyoga Dvāra Sūtra also talks about successive squaring: a2, (a2)2, ((a2)2)2 …, and successive square rooting: a1/2, (a1/2) 1/2, ((a1/2) 1/2) 1/2 …. It then gives the following formulas: a1/2 x a1/4 = (a1/4) 3 a1/4 x a1/8 = (a1/8)3 264 x 232 = 2 96 These calculations led to the discovery of logarithms to the bases 2, 3 and 4 as elaborated in Dhavala commentary by Vīrasenācharya around eighth century CE. Arddhachheda was the term used for logarithm to the base 2, trikachheda was the term used for logarithm to the base 3 and chaturthachheda was the term used for logarithm to the base 4. The following formulas were also known: log2(m x n) = log2m + log2n log2(m ÷ n) = log2m - log2n log2mn = n x log2m The concept of logarithm on base 10 was proposed by John Napier in 1614. Indians had developed the concept of logarithm more than eight centuries before its discovery in the west. Bhagavatī Sūtra gives the formulas for permutation and combination as follows: nC1 = n; nC2 = n x (n-1)/(1 x 2); nC3 = n x (n-1) x (n-2)/(1 x 2 x 3); nP1 = n; nP2 = n x (n-1); nP3 = n x (n-1) x (n-2) It also says that the formulas can be extended to numbers up to infinity. These discoveries predate the development of the theory of permutation by Fabian Stedman in 1677 by over eighteen centuries. Indian text Trilokaprajñapti written by Yativṛṣabha gives formulas for the first term, common difference, number of terms and sum of terms of an arithmetic progression. This text was written in 500 CE and predates the treatment of arithmetic progression by Carl Friedrich Gauss in late eighteenth century by nearly thirteen centuries. Indian mathematician Halāyudha wrote a commentary on Piṅgala’s Chhandahsūtra in tenth century CE. He gave a pictorial representation of Meru Prastāra, which is known as Pascal’s triangle currently. It is named after Blaise Pascal, who described the binomial coefficients in form of a triangle in 1653. The formulation by Halāyudha predates the work of Pascal by over six centuries. It is a pity that Indian history books don’t teach about the outstanding achievements of the ancient Indians and are designed to produce educated Indians who are ashamed of their heritage.

Now one I have to say his struggle make me cry . He was a genius. We indians never forget him and his contributions.
Even I as well
22nd December today is the day 🔥🔥
Ramanujan number: 1729 is known as the Ramanujan number which is the sum of the cubes of two numbers 10 and 9. Circle Method: Ramanujan, along with GH Hardy, invented the circle method which gave the first approximations of the partition of numbers beyond 200

Ramanujan was a real legend but i feel very sad for him😔😔😔😔😔
Most people don't realise , Sri ramanujan didn't attend higher education mathematics classes, he found that math himself, he literally re discovered years worth of math by himself, he also credited his knowledge to his goddess
He is the best. I find him to be one of the bestest with Einstein and newton. Great Ramanujan constant.
S.Ramanujan always in our heart ,proud to be a native of the country in which such legends born
I am from nepal.
And i studied about this guy , i was shocked our neighbor got this genius 🙂
I watched his documentary hindi movie , i was truly shocked.
i wonder we Asian are more genuis than others because of all the shit politics destroyed all the geniuses.
Love from country of Himalayas NEPAL 🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵

From Nepal too
I just knew about him what a genius 🙏

His birthday is 22nd December☺️ and he died on 26 April😢,he was one of the greatest mathematician to ever exist in the world 🤯📖📚but sadly he didn't get enough praise then he should have gotten😞
We know about him , he was and will be the greatest mathematician
No doubt. I will put him with the likes of einstein and newton. His contributions were epoch making. Space travel, wormholes, string theory all of them are possible due to his mathematical theorems and calculations. Genius is a word that doesnt even begin to do justice when describing his intellect.
@@abdullahtariq2032 you are indeed true

He is my idol. I love him and that’s why I love maths like a man would love a woman inspite of being a biology student
After swami Vivekanand I adore Nikola Tesla and Ramanujan only.
The greatest mathemagician ever born. While solving jee advanced question I used his theory several times and think how genius he was at that time..
I am from Afghanistan and in the 5th class I wanna know if I can learn the theory if you can explain 🙂

Gaurav, I am a big fan. A 44 years young fellow who was a WB state board topper in physics but unfortunately became an engineer and a white collar slave. Kash apne time pe tere jaesa koi hota bro, then I would've been a quantum or ASTRO physicist in my life. Keep it up your good work bro. God bless you . I am preparing my only daughter with my little knowledge and your spectrum of knowledge thank you 🙏
The one and only mathematician only who knows dangerous infinity very well.... 🙏🙏
The equation and formulas he wasn't able to prove are kept in the museum and scientists now use them to find black holes because they give more accuracy than any other formula. The contribution you are telling aren't even half of what he gave to this world ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏
I feel sad because in india, people see only degree not the real talents😢.
Because of 9th fail politicians
Just imagine agar Ramanujan sir abhi ke wakt me hote to unko kitni sari opportunities milti aur wo kya kya kar sakte the. Anyway hats off to Ramanujan sir.
You provides us with good knowledge about science and history. THIS HELPS ME A LOT IN STUDIES. Please keep on with such videos.

Excellent video Gaurav. You are the best in explaining complex things easily.
Ramanujan paradox :1+2+3+.........=-1/12, which literally made me shock 😲 😐.
Can you elaborate it please
@@SonofAboTanvvthe sum of all natural numbers till infinity gives answer as -1/12 ......and this shocked every mathematician of his times as no one believed that sum of positive integers i.e natural numbers gives a negative value........but today this theorem was used to solve many complex problems and through this we are getting to know our universe........

Sir Ramanujan was just built different.
Able to create new mathematical concepts and formulas on it's own without any proper education.

Bitter truth : money makes great peoples and geniuses not mind if you have both then you can be a genius .unfortunately we lost many great geniuses who can change the world because of money😞✨😡

I really have a huge respect for the work of Ramanujan's, more people must know about his achievements and his work.
I being a student of Mathematics sees Ramanujan as an inspiration for upcoming generations in the field of MATHEMATICS.
He is great, As a mathematics student I know how difficult it is in higher studies 🙂
Sir Ramanujan was really great !!🙏🙏
In Bangladesh, we learnt about him in our higher mathematics book in 10th standard.

A Great Mathematician of Sub-continent ❤️
It's the Indian subcontinent.
Srinivasa ramanujan was devoting disciple of Devi Namagiri Thayar...( goddess) !! In his personal note he said it....he solved many of mathematics theories during deep sleep with help of Devi Namagiri Thayar...(goddess) of Nammkal...south India...!! Ramanujan was getting blessing and ordered from godess Devi Namagiri Thayar...!!
My Principal Sir (Sushil Sir) complimented me that you're the next Ramanujan. And that day was so special for me.
I can bet majority of people who took science (maths + bio) know Ramajun.
