Someday, I will become a beginner bee keeper. Thank you for doing these types of videos. It's so interesting and informative. You and the dirt rooster are my favorite bee wranglers. I love the bees 🐝 Thank you for doing what you do. ❤️
I too hope you will become a beekeeper one day as I always say, the world needs as many beekeepers as it can get! I'm delighted to share my experiences with all who care to listen, and I thank you for doing that, it is greatly appreciated. Until the next one, God's peace Bonnie. Mr. Ed
What a great line up of beginner's beehive kits I had on this video, any one of them would be a good one to chose for someone just starting out or someone looking to add a hive to their yard. It took Charlie and I a full day making the video and over 4 hours of editing to get it on UA-cam, but well worth the effort, so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for your blessings, love, support, and for all the time you spend following along with what we do. Hope to see you again at NAHBE this year. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed

Regardless if you live in an area where it's cold or hot, the insulated hive will give great results with your bees. The fact that you switched to them and are very happy with the results an insulated hive bring to the bees and the beekeeper only reinforces my thoughts on the value of insulated hives. Thanks so much for watching and leaving your comment. God's peace Andrew. Mr. Ed
Thank you Maureen, I think we make a great casket here at St. Joseph Abbey...as well as some great tasting honey from our bees. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I'm a big fan of cypress for that very reason, and as a woodworkers, it's a real pleasure to work. I hope you are home for Thanksgiving, God's peace Shawn. Mr. Ed
They are all very nice beginner bee hive kits. If I were to pick ONE it would be Premier Bee. I like the fact it comes assembled and the construction is high quality, not saying the others are not. The Styrofoam Hive IQ is well isolated but you have to be careful not to man handle them but a really good quality bee box. God Bless you both!!!
I am a very big fan of Premier Bee Products as evidenced how I use them all the time in our bee operation, but ever one of the entries in this video would make a good choice for any beekeeper, beginner or experienced. Thank you so much for your blessings and for taking the time to watch this very long video. God's peace Phil. Mr. Ed
I agree, but they are a bit more expensive than the ones showcased in the video. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace James. Mr. Ed
Hey Brian, hope you thought I did a good job representing Foxhound. You guys have great products, and I was very happy to have been able to include them in this video. See you at NAHBE, God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Since all beekeepers are a bit picky on options, with all of these beehives the number of options should cover everyone's needs. I hope your Thanksgiving was a blessed one, and thank you very much for your continued gift. God's peace Larry. Mr. Ed
@ cedar is a great choice to make boxes with. I remember the first beehives I ever built were made with cedar and they lasted over 10 years. God peace. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff In my opinion for a beginner and ease of getting started I would go with the assembled Premier. All they have to do is paint it and they're ready to go. Thanks Jeff!
Good Morning Mr.Ed, Well I'll be dipped! I am looking at some new boxes for my farm Mr.Ed ! Thank you for showing this Video. It might have been a big long but very much needed if you are gonna invest in a product! Ms. Janet and I love your videos and now she knows what I want for Christmas! I hope you and Ms. Mona had a wonderful day yesterday. I want you and all our bee friends to have a wonderful weekend yeah hear!
You are very welcome. All 4 examples are great products, and depending on the preferences of the individual beekeeper, any of them would be a great choice for a beehive. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Joe. Mr. Ed
Much respect for you Evan for making your own bee boxes. I did that once many, many years ago and found it was just cheaper and a lot less work if I just bought them. Keep on keeping on. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
😢Hi Jeff and Charlie from southern New Zealand 👋😃 I got up to the foxhound hive at the 40 minutes mark, very impressed with the quality of both the premier and the foxhound starters, I'll have to watch the rest tonight because I'm working and helping my neighbors today felling tops out of their border pine trees and my own bee work 😂 great weather this week in southern New Zealand, got great nectar flow going, you can really smell the thyme nectar coming in now. Can't wait to finish watching tonight 👋😃👍 okay it's tonight 🤣 I finished watching and very impressed with the quality of all these kits. I have to admit being surprised about the polystyrene hive, that's a very interesting idea. I'm old school though😂 so I'd say go for the wood and I really like the foxhound cypress, but all four kits have great attributes. Very impressed with the premier too, great starter. Awesome review guys👍👋
That is so cool hearing about a strong nectar flow when here there is hardly anything blooming. These certainly were all great choices in hives for the presentation which is why I went with these 4 manufacturers, now it's up to the individual beekeeper to make their choice. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for watching it entirely, I know it was extremely long, the longest video I ever made, so thanks so very much for that. Until the next one, God's peace Juss. Mr. Ed
As I said in the beginning, for this video I was only using Langstroth hives for the comparison. Like you, I am a very big fan of Layens hives and all long hives for that matter, they are so beekeeper friendly. Especially of an old beekeeper like myself. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
You are very welcome. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video, and I hope you found the information that was presented useful. You are going to bee very happy with your purchase, you can't go wrong with buying insulated hives...expecially affordable ones. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Glad you enjoyed the video Brian, and I apologize for how long it was but there was just so much material to cover and I did not want to make it a 2 part video. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Good morning, Mr. ED wowser !!! This was an excellent time to show this! Im gonna put this on my Christmas list! Thank u Mr.Ed God bless you. Happy holidays to you and your family
I picked up a deal on 10 of the HiveIQ last year at the Bee Expo. So far, they were great through the summer now for the big test getting through the winter! So far, they seem to be holding up well. Hopefully, they will come up with a Feeder soon. Also, watch out when using OA vapor treatment. Mine melted the front really easily. I ended up drilling a hole in the back bottom boards to do my vapor treatment and add a 3/4 copper pipe as a sleeve to prevent it from melting the hives. Works great!!! Will update this spring on how the bees do over this winter.
I too really like the Hive IQ beehive as I am a big fan of insulated hives. I love the rigidity of the frame work making the entire structure fell so much stronger. Granted, there are draw backs with polyethylene, but the disadvantages can be overcome as you figured it out for yourself. The advantages of insulation work both in the cold and hot temps, and I can hardly wait to get a swarm into my Hive IQ hive this spring. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Great video and covers a lot for new beekeepers. I have 8 of the HiveIQ's and love them. Ran them from spring this year on a couple of colonies and migrated most of my hives to them by fall. Over summer the production hives did incredibly well and made as much if not more honey than wooden hives (theory of the bees not having to cool the hives in summer so they can focus on nectar gathering) and did not beard but a couple times compared to wooden hives. I lived in the piedmont/foothill area of NC and I like condensing insulated hives and winter prep has disappeared from my fall work with these. If you're worried about durability I have a first hand account. Dropped a 2nd story deep full of brood and honey about 3 feet off the hive while inspecting (they can be slippery once your unseat them from other hive bodies) and did not even damage the HiveIQ at ALL. Landed on the bare ground on the corner and I just picked it up and stacked in back on (ps they are much lighter!). Couple of other points 1). Glue those hive body joints with a good exterior wood glue for better rigid feel 2) Go ahead and get at least one more honey super. You can use it as a shim for feeding with inhive feeders or for pollen patties and any mite treatments.
Thank you very much for the info on the Hive IQ. I truly hope that new beekeepers will consider this hive to begin their journey on, I know they will not be disappointed especially if they can pull honey in their first year. By the way, I am going to get another deep when I'm at NAHBE this year. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Hello Mr Ed! I'm from Sweden and like to follow your channel. I've been beekeeper since 1978 and my thoughts are: I don't use plastic i my hives because bees have lived millions of years and if they have needed plastic they have aleady invented that long time before us. They have always preferred wood as a good and healty residence. Thats why I only use wood in my hives. Thank for good entertainment! /DavidF
Like you, I have been a beekeeper since 1978...that's a lot of years! I have to agree that plastic is not natural, but for me, using it for my foundation makes my life so much easier in so many ways, and as long as it's got enough natural beeswax covering it, the bees will use it. They are so forgiving and understandable. Thanks so much for watching. God's peace David. Mr. Ed
Great video. Was thinking of you all week. We cruised into Lake Pontchartrain for the week to visit our son for Thanksgiving. We are heading to Texas for the winter and spring. Time to check on our bees. 🐝. Happy Thanksgiving
Just curious, did you go through the intercostal or did you go into the Gulf and come up through Lake Borgne? Either way it sounds very adventurous. I'm so sorry you did not make it to the abbey and visit, I'd have loved to meet you guys. I hope the next time you pass through you will take the time for a visit at the abbey. I hope your bees are well. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
@ well, we left Key West in April and went up the East coast, to New York then the Erie and Oswego Canal scooted over to Canada through the Trent Sever Canal, Georgian Bay to the North Channel back to the 🇺🇸 down through the Lake Michigan to the Illinois River, Mississippi, Ohio, Cumberland,Tennessee, Tennessee Tombigbee, Blackwarrior then to Mobile Bay…Mississippi Sound to Lake Borgne/ Riglotes. Today we are heading to the Industrial Canal to the Mississippi. Then Texas Bound through the Gulf ICW. I apologize I would always comment on your content my personal UA-cam. Your channel is amazing been watching five years ago when we started our bees. Just received our five year agricultural exemption It has not been easy beekeeping west of Austin, TX
On Vancouver Island in Canada where it was a balmy 5c today, I also use styrofoam board glued onto the outside of my wooden boxes. This keeps the bees cool in the summer and warm and dry in the winter. Winters here don’t get very cold but they are wet so it’s important to keep the insides of the hives dry. ❤🐝🇨🇦
That is another advantage of insulated hives, control of moisture. Personally, I am a very big fan of insulated hives, and the Hive IQ hives offer a great product at an affordable price. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Heidi. Mr. Ed
On the Hive IQ when the bees propalise the insides and you're prying on them with your hive tool I think you're going to break the plastic easier than the wooden hives. It was a good show!!!!.............pretty well on a par with taking the wife out to a show at the theatre!!!!!!!
It is quite possible that will happen, but even with wooden boxes damage will occur in the corners when prying with the hive tool. Glad you enjoyed watching the video, and I really appreciate you watching all of it though I think a night out with my wife would be a bit more fun. God's peace Bryan. Mr. Ed
HELLOOOO Mr. ED ! lol man some nice hives . i really like them all . but me living in the cold north of Michigan for the most part we get really cold winters for at least a couple months . sometimes getting below -15 degrees f . so that hive IQ hive would work out better then the others im sure . down fall of it is its Styrofoam and you will have to bee careful of it . up side is after painting them they will last forever as long as you dont kick them around . another up side is in the summer they will help keep the bees cool . in Michigan im guessing its pretty tough to keep bees . and you dont see them as much as you used to . i think thats going to change soon with the election and Mr. Kennedy. not trying to get into politics . i also think the hive IQ would be great for states that get super hot during the day and cold at night like in the desert . my only fault with it is its made of Styrofoam . but hey Mr. Ed god bless you and good time Charlie and the wonderful monks we never get to see much of .lol . oh hey before i forget them coffins in the back ground look like they would make great horizontal hives . lol .
Insulated hives constructed of polyethylene are not anything new and have been around long enough to get a foothold in the market, and they are great for cold weathered conditions as well as hot weather conditions. I know in other countries they are even more popular than wooden hives. Thank you so much for your blessings and for watching. Happy Thanksgiving and God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Good morning Mr. Ed. Mug up from central NH where the sun is almost above the trees, the ground is white, and the temps are rising. Currently 32F outside with 7" of crusty snow on the ground that wasn't there yesterday morning... Winter is here... I guess I got to do some snow removal... oh goody, opening boxes, like Christmas. Here in NH, besides most of my hives that I build, I use BetterBee because they are relatively local, and they use white pine from Humble Abode in Maine for their boxes.
It was like Christmas morning opening all those boxes to see the goodies inside, and man oh man, what goodies there were! In my opinion, which ever hive a beekeeper selected from this video to use for themselves, it was a good choice. Thanks for watching. God's peace Brice. Mr. Ed
Regardless if you choose the apple or the orange, you are going to make a great choice, any of these kits are really good. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Kuinka ihanaa saada katsomaan Suomesta, erityisesti Pohjois-Karjalasta! Jumalan rauhaa. Mr. Ed
Some great choices here on hives for sure, and like you said, once they are wax dipped....they are DONE! Looking forward to visiting with you at NAHBE again this year. God's peace Phillip. Mr. Ed
I love the Hive IQ's as well, the insulating factor has always sold me, and I can hardly wait to put a swarm into this box in the spring. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. Hey Robert, just wanted to let you know Charlie sharpened my knife right after we shot the video, he saw the same thing as you. Happy Thanksgiving! God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
It makes good sense to paint the end grain with glue as it certainly would seal it. However, when the boxes are wax dipped, the wax penetrates the end grain from both sides so there is no need for extra protection. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Brad. Mr. Ed
Thank you Larry, Charlie and I tried to do a good job reporting what we saw in each manufacture's representation. And yes, a standard wooden, or plastic, frame will fit into the Hive IQ box. Thanks for watching and leaving your comment. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Part of the fun is the struggle...it makes one appreciate the good times even more. Thanks for watching, I know it was a long, long, long one. God's peace Thorne. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoffI thought it was an awesome video. You went into great detail on all of the different options. For instance I really like that the fox hound box is made of cypress but for the price and quality my favorite was the premier box. I really like the jointing and the fact that it comes assembled for that price. Thanks again for all you do for this community. God bless you Mr. Ed!!!!!
Also the hive IQ hive was really neat to see. I have never seen anything like that. It looks like a really cool product and would be nice for the beginner bee keeper.
In southern Canadian province of Saskatchewan (where it's-30 right now), I use Styrofoam board to insulate my wooden hives. My bees are on the North end of a small lake. One winter I set up a trail camera because something was clawing at the Styrofoam. Turned out to be a mink trying to get in. On a hive like this that would damage it beyond repair. A hard protective covering option would be great!.
Wow, I could not imagine -30 temps, that is just plain brutal, but for bees it has to be extreme! Granted, the polystyrene will not hold up to attacks from animals, but there is no debating the fact it does provide an R value to help maintain temps in the heat or cold as well as controlling moisture issues as well. I do like the idea of how you wrap your boxes, you get the best of both worlds. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace. Mr. Ed
That is correct, the Hive IQ did not come with frames so they would have to be purchased separately. Sorry for not saying that in the video. Thanks for watching. God's peace John. Mr. Ed
Do you think, or do you know from experience, if the polystyrene hive will stand up to the ravages of time without being too fragile or brittle? What about when it is loaded up with heavy brood. pollen ad especially honey?
I do not have any experience with polystyrene hives. However, after talking with the creator of these hives, and their research goes back over 15 years, the hives do stand up to the conditions of mother nature very well. If I were beginning my beekeeping journey, these are the types of hive I would now chose due to the insulating factors as well as moisture issues as well. Thanks for watching. God's peace Lester. Mr. Ed
Internal feeding could be done very easily though it would require putting a super around the feeder bottle. Thanks for watching. God's peace Lisle. Mr. Ed
Mr. Jeff Have you ever looked into insulative paint additives like Themocels? Do you have a favorite oil based primer? Extremely helpful sir. Hope you had a happy and Blessed Thanksgiving.
To bee honest Mike, due to the fact that painting is the worst possible job there is, I know nothing about paint additives to help with insulating. And because I think painting bee boxes is real punishment, I wax dip all our boxes now. I hope your Thanksgiving day was a blessed one as well. Hope to see you in Louisville in January. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
No it would not. Though the widths are the same, the length of the Hive IQ box is longer than the standard bottom board. Thanks for watching and leaving your comment Nancy, it is greatly appreciated. Until the next one, God's peace. Mr. Ed
I did forget that fact, but if you watched the unpacking of the Hive IQ you would have seen it did not come with frames. Still, I should have mentioned it for those who did not watch the entire video. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace. Mr. Ed
@JeffHorchoff been a viewer and subscriber for years. You don't know how many Fridays have started by watching your videos. My year started with 6 hives and have 16 going into winter, most being swarms that I caught and/or trapped. You,Jp,Mike,Rooster, and let's not forget Yappy were all instrumental in my becoming a beekeeper. Thank you and keep on keeping.
It would be wonderful if the pieces could be dipped prior to assembly thus making it easier to ship, but from my experience, it can't be done as the wax builds up in the joints making assembly very difficult. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Karen. Mr. Ed
Just ordered one Wax Dipped Hive Setup and some honey supers when Premier had their sale going last month. Went with Pierco foundation because the Premier is kinda thin and can warp if you leave it in the sun.. From what I have seen, the ManLake quality has gone downhill and I get a lot of boxes from Hillco as the quality is better. Really want to try the Premier wood and its affordable. Really discouraged with some of the low quality stuff out there sold as top notch (the world of deception).
In my opinion, you can't go wrong with products from Hillco, Pierco, or Premier, they are all great companies. I too think Mann Lake's quality has dropped significantly and I only purchase Honey Bandit from them as they are the only ones that make it. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Once you get the frames in the box along with the bees and honey, you'd never have to worry about the wind blowing it. However, I'd still put a ratchet strap around the hive to secure it. Thanks for watching and Happy Thanksgiving Karen. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Hello. I am a beekeeper from Ukraine. I don't like cases made with joints like straight tenons. They will always pull more water, and they will be twisted, bent... Why is plastic foundation used everywhere? Thanks for the review, God bless you.
Finger joints are the most common type of joinery in a bee box, but like you said, they absorb the most water due to the exposer of the amount of end grain in the joint. For that reason I prefer the dove tail joint as less end grain is exposed. Personally I love plastic foundation as it is much stronger than 100% beeswax when spinning in an extractor, and as long as the plastic is coated with wax, the bees have no issues drawing comb on it. Thank you very much for your blessings and for taking the time to watch the video, I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed it. Also, I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. That is a very informative video Mr Ed! But how did you tear Good Time Charlie away from his daily requirement of fishing time? That has to be an early Christmas Gift!! lol Just curious of the insulated hive set, how would that assist overwintering in the cold of northern climates? Hope you both along with your families have an enjoyable Thanksgiving Weeked! -Bob...
I think the only reason Charlie decided to help with this one was he was tired of cleaning all the fish he was catching and he needed a break from that, he loves catching but dreads cleaning. For sure the insulated hive will help keep the cluster warm, but just as important, it will help with condensation issues as well. Hope your turkey day was a good one as well. God's peace Bob. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff One thing I have noticed about your bee wrangling excusions Mr Ed, is that I never see Good Time Charlie showing up with a good fish frying rig to cook up some good fresh tasty fish treats! But now I wonder, what type of fish could a well tamed touch of honey and maybe a bit of hot chili peppers add to a Holiday trreat? Maybe these seeds of dietary delights could move Good Time Charlie to put some of his delicacies on display following a successful hive removal? This has been a good start to the Holidays Mr Ed, as I hope is true for you and Good Time Charlie as well! -Bob...

Thanks for the great exhibition!
Mr. Ed
I make all my own boxes. As well as my son inlaws boxes. This video helped me a lot. Thanx. Nice to see the boxes from the other side of the world
Much respect for you Evan for making your own bee boxes.
Mr. Ed
Thank you for the proviso. I'm a fairly new beekeeper using Layens hives, and couldn't be more pleased. I continue to learn from your every episode.
As I said in the beginning, for this video I was only using Langstroth hives for the comparison. Like you, I am a very big fan of Layens hives and all long hives for that matter, they are so beekeeper friendly. Especially of an old beekeeper like myself. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Mr Ed, one thing I always look for is the nail shot from the frame sides into the top bar. I see that it appears they put a staple in there. Nice.
And I prefer staples to nails as with staples you get 2 holding points instead of just one. Thanks for watching. God's peace Peter.
Mr. Ed
Awesome. Thanks for the video.
You are very welcome. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video, and I hope you found the information that was presented useful. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Just had some HiveIQ kits delivered to my door today. I think the bees will enjoy some insulation getting through the Canadian winter.
You are going to bee very happy with your purchase, you can't go wrong with buying insulated hives...expecially affordable ones. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing with us 😊. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Mr. Ed
nice i'll be looking in on hiq one i think thet would be good up here in maine thank you mr ed and charlie god bless you all
I think that would be a great choice for you as well considering just how cold your winters are. Happy Thanksgiving! God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff happy thanksgiving to u to mr ed
Mr. Ed
Hi there. Mr Edd. And Charlie. God bless you real good. ❤
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff hope you had a wonderful thanks giving as well my friend .
Mr. Ed
1st 3 hives: "now see all these apples?" Last hive: "here's an orange"
Regardless if you choose the apple or the orange, you are going to make a great choice, any of these kits are really good. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Hey guys Happy Thanksgiving from Boonville NC
Thank you Rocky, and I hope your Thanksgiving day was a blessed one as well. Until the next one, God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Terveiset täältä talvisesta Pohjois-Karjalasta Suomesta.😊 Hyvä video saan vinkkejä omaan mehiläistarhaukseen.
Kuinka ihanaa saada katsomaan Suomesta, erityisesti Pohjois-Karjalasta! Jumalan rauhaa.
Mr. Ed
Make sure you feed Goodtime Charlie. He deserves a great lunch after this video!
I did. He's always going to get fed regardless of what we are doing together. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Once these are wax dipped the end grain won't be a big an issue compared to just painted. Nice comparison video. Talk to you at NAHBE.
Some great choices here on hives for sure, and like you said, once they are wax dipped....they are DONE! Looking forward to visiting with you at NAHBE again this year. God's peace Phillip.
Mr. Ed
I use the Hive IQs, I like them
I love the Hive IQ's as well, the insulating factor has always sold me, and I can hardly wait to put a swarm into this box in the spring. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Good morning from Denton Texas and Brushpopper Bee wrangling. Looks like you need to sharpen your pocket knife. 😂
Hey Robert, just wanted to let you know Charlie sharpened my knife right after we shot the video, he saw the same thing as you. Happy Thanksgiving! God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
I paint the end grain on the corners with titebond III to seal them up Works well if painting but it might not work as well if wax dipping.
Mr. Ed
Happy Jesus weekend and Thanksgiving Yall! Blessings too!
Nicely Done! One question though will wooden honey supers fit on the Hive IQ boxes?
Thank you Larry, Charlie and I tried to do a good job reporting what we saw in each manufacture's representation. And yes, a standard wooden, or plastic, frame will fit into the Hive IQ box. Thanks for watching and leaving your comment. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
I'm going to see the Paypal againt black in my sleep for days.
I feel like the boxes are working aginst you Mr. Ed lol.
Mr. Ed
I didn't see frames with the HiveIQ (unless they were in a box you didn't open), so does that mean that they would need to be bought separately?
Mr. Ed
How would you go about feeding the IQ bees?
Mr. Ed
Would a standard wooden box fit on the Hive IQ boxes/bottom board?
No it would not. Though the widths are the same, the length of the Hive IQ box is longer than the standard bottom board. Thanks for watching and leaving your comment Nancy, it is greatly appreciated. Until the next one, God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Liked them all but you failed to remind us that the price on the IQ boxes was without frames.
I did forget that fact, but if you watched the unpacking of the Hive IQ you would have seen it did not come with frames. Still, I should have mentioned it for those who did not watch the entire video. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr.
Hi Mr. Ed. Would there be an advantage to wax dipping hive parts knocked down? Everyone I've seen done, they're put together.
Mr. Ed
I think I would have glued and clamped that second box completely before putting in the first staple.
Mr. Ed
I have a question, wouldn't the poly hive be too light for somewhere windy and how hail resistant would it be?
Once you get the frames in the box along with the bees and honey, you'd never have to worry about the wind blowing it. However, I'd still put a ratchet strap around the hive to secure it. Thanks for watching and Happy Thanksgiving Karen. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
I only use RING SHANK bails..
The advantage of a ring shank nail is it will not back out. You can't go wrong using them. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace brother.

i always want to read instructions if i am building something or i bought something.
It is always a good idea to read instructions, I just wish I would do it more often. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.

-Bob...
So over in USA IF YA GET AFB OR ENGLISH ONE WHAT IS THE GO BURN THE LOT.???
To my understanding, burning is the only way to eradicate the disease as it is spread by spores. Thanks for watching. God's peace Brett.

🇸🇦👍
Kinda like Christmas morning, huh?
Yes indeed, and I'd love to find anyone of these kits under my tree this year. Thanks for watching. God's peace Darrell.
