It happens. I live in Florida and had an encounter with a deer too, a fawn, thankfully she was sent to Silver Springs when they were open to recoup. Sarah, you did not hit a deer, it hit you! I watched it 3 times.....
Deer strikes are mighty hard on cars.. So glad everyone in your car was ok. To bad about the trip being changed by that mishap. Be safer out on those roadways.

Good to hear no one was hurt. We live in Oxfordshire England & a few years ago a deer jumped across a very small lane, went through the windscreen & ended up in the back seat! Both driver & passenger did not survive!
I am so happy that everybody escaped unscathed minus the SUV! As a child there was no better time in my life then "slumber party with the cousins" the best memories of my life!

I recently totaled my truck. Driving home from the theater after seeing Dune part 2 and it ended after dark. I don't see well after dark anymore, so i try to avoid driving after dark. Some black cows got out on the road, and I hit one. The area I hit it was pitch black.

Dang such a pretty truck too. Love Lincoln Navigators. I thought you would have front and rear, heavy duty brush guards with all the traveling, hauling, and offroading that you do. I know in Georgia where I live (can't believe you drove through Atlanta - I would rather hit a deer at 100mph then drive through Atlanta) the deer are real bad especially when hunting season starts. The deer have learned to come into town to hide from the hunters. In fact that problem is causing many towns to pass laws allowing low powered crossbow hunting inside city limits as the deer are eating roses and gardens and causing tons of car wrecks from hiding in town. They have these deer whistles that you can install on the front of your vehicle too that make high pitched sounds to scare them away from the road but it might affect your dogs. With as much traveling as you do and hauling trailers, all your large vehicles should have front and rear guards. It doesn't look totalled to me. They may not want to pay the price for a new front clip and headlight, sensors, and airbag, but the cost of that truck is a pretty penny so don't let them total it. They won't give you a fraction of what you paid.
they opened branson missouri for bow only. 2 deer per tag a couple of years back. while hunting we heard 4 accidents with deer involved.. no joke!!! we have a "roo bar" on the front of our truck.. heavy rolled steel.. i have splatted alot of bugs but no deer so far. i almost hit one with a 96 silverado dang deer had a heart attack!!! i pullled it down off the highway and dispatched it quickly. we threw it in the truck.. filled freezer! we also notified the conservation dept and told them what happened

For some reason they feel like they have to run ACROSS the road instead of AWAY from the road. Whenever I am hunting deer they dont run in FRONT of me they run AWAY from me. I dont understand why that is the case with vehicles and roads lol. The roads are also hard for them to traverse. I had one not only run in front of me but then chose to turn and start running down the road but couldnt get any traction and finally just stopped. It was funny and I chuckled a bit. Eventually had to get out and push the little guy off the road. He was panting so hard.
@@John_Conner222 i live in more farm country than city but im in the middle 2 big cities i have had my neighbors dogs chase me down the road a few times but i stop and tell the dogs to get in and i take them back where they belong. the funniest thing i ever saw here is misery err i mean missouri is a horse jumped a fence did a 1/2 flip and got stuck in a cow pond... i did grab the rancher and some really strong rope... we got him out that horse doesn't go to that end of the field anymore..lol
I knew a guy that was from Wisconsin who was retired Navy who said he hunted whenever he could but never shot a deer. But he did say he totaled 4 different vehicles going back home for leave because of deer.

when i was a kid if i ate any dairy and got in a car.. i got sick. as an adult if i sit in the back seat i get motion sickness if i have dairy i still get sick even if i drive. try no dairy 2 hours before going on trips with emma. see if it works....
if more than 3 airbags deployed in missouri.. total it! dodge nitro t boned my 2014 ford fusion.. totalled dodge ram flipped sideways came down over the hood of my 2018 ford escape.. totalled no one hurt in these accidents in our car... i trust ford airbag systems.. by all rights in the ford escape we should have got hurt.. 2020 ford f 150.. nothing yet but with dingbats in missouri im waiting lol glad everyone was ok!!!
Since airbags deployed that SUV will never be the same hope it works out for you . And I had progressive there awful if your dad was not on your coverage they might not pay have to go through his insurance that’s how it works here in VA
Totaled. I didn’t buy it new - it was a 2019.. all the sensors in front were damaged. Airbag went off and it wasn’t worth repair. They depreciate ultra fast and I had 85,000 on it.

in wisconsin if you have AMERICAN FAMILY insurance you don't have to pay your deductible because it's under the NATURE law if you hit a deer.
