Hi all, small correction to something jack said at 3:01 - the brand is American but production of the Ocean will actually take place in Europe through Magna, as discussed later in the vid. Slip of the tongue! We've given him 20 lashes and he's very sorry.
At 15:15 - We don't need any car noise. Period. Many EV drivers enjoy driving along rural lanes whilst listening to the wildlife. Birdsong can be very soothing whilst driving. I drive an EV for various reasons, but high on the list is the peace and quiet of not having to hear a droning money to noise converter throughout the journey, Many thousands of people are annoyed by traffic noise, particularly at night, when one loud engine can be heard halfway across a city. I refuse to add to the noise pollution any more than is absolutely essential. If our car's pedestrian warning sound could be turned off, I'd do it immediately. It can be heard from several hundred metres away, and it sets off the local dogs every time they hear it. _That_ annoys the neighbours! When you think about it, almost nobody complained about an almost silent vintage Rolls Royce when it passed them, saying that their silence was dangerous, did they?
It does not bother you that it is July and Fisker claims sales start in November, and there is not a hint of a UI in that car, and no one is even being taken on rides driven by Fisker employees? Did you major in Gullibility in college?
Working with Magna is probably the best decision they’ve made. They’ve de-risked the whole company don’t have to worry about serious quality problems as they’ve been making EVs for a while now.
Oh yeah I can see quite a few future companies going with Magna to build their cars, there will be a lot of cars with similar running gear but the styling will be like all the different types of phones out there. Get rid of the ICE and emissions standards worries and just about anyone with a factory and sense of style can start pumping out a car.

Brilliant. Smart thinking by Fisker to make the Ocean environmentally friendly as well as include 250kW fast charging and vehicle-to-load (V2L). Fisker is a serious contender in the EV market!
It's a shame that the solar panels are only available on their most expensive model though I'd hope it'd at the very least make other manufacturers think about building cars to have solar panels, from the ground up for under 35K I'd love to have say an extra 6 miles a day straight from from sun. This is however down to me only having to use the car to go to the office twice a week
I think this "LFP in base model NMC in extended-range version" approach is going to become extremely common across the industry. It minimizes costs, spreads sourcing risk and since you're already designing the car for the long-range version, you have the space to easily produce a standard-range version using lower-density LFP cells using the same battery volume. A knock-on benefit for consumers is that the most cost-conscious ones that are likely to keep cars for longer (those buying base models) will get a longer-endurance battery that is likely to degrade even less (than the typically already low degradation of NMC cells) over the lifespan of owning the vehicle. For those leasing a high-end car on a 3-year cycle this doesn't matter so much, but for those who regularly keep vehicles for 10-20 years this will be more important.
The FISKER ocean is a straight to the point car ,they have focused on range and functionality and the technology included is enough for the modern driver ,not to mention the ocean is literally the most beautiful car around…look at it parked next to the lotus electre which is a gorgeous but the ocean still steals the show.

Same. They are extremely lucky to be able to take another stab at it after several previous failures. It looks great and I hope they can follow through and produce these in large numbers.
Subcontracting the manufacturing to Magna will ensure excellent build quality but I suspect they will be limited in quantity. The Jaguar iPace was made in Graz but never in enough quantities...maybe that’s why the price was so high?...The car looks great and the £35,000 base price version is appealing...just don’t see how they are going to make enough of them to meet demand, maybe Magna will expand as a result of this contract with Fisker..lots of questions.

So good to see Henrik Fisker get this car to production, been following ‘his dream’ for what seems like an eternity, looks fantastic, a usable range, affordable-ish and it’s going to have top built quality. Love to know the max cornering g, performance etc, bet it’s surprising good.
Fun fact. When considering whether to build one of the first mobile phone networks, a Scandinavian country decided that if 10% of people who could afford a second home got a mobile phone it would be financially viable. Lets hope the price of EVs follows a similar trajectory to mobiles (and I'm talking about things like iPhones here).
Not a huge fan of the design with the silly exaggerated grill but 35k with a LFP battery and a range of 270 is really good. Since with LFP you can charge to 100% daily and have more daily range than cars with a longer range non LFP battery as they are limited to 80-90% daily to avoid battery degradation.
That argument doesn’t really make any sense since range is irrelevant on the daily drive unless you’re driving 250 miles a day. Long range is only needed on the rare long journey which is when you’d do that 100% max charge.
@@TecnamTwin I think having a higher daily range makes more of a difference when you take spontaneous trips and since EV range is effected by features such a climate control, security features etc. I also mentioned in my original post the the other advantages of LFP like higher cycle count and higher thermal stability.

Love the look. Love the solar. Love recycled material. Disappointed in the boot capacity. Not enough for a camping trip. Being in Australia it'll be years away anyhoo. But def on the list when it does come.
I was thinking the same thing. It seems to be akin to a Niro. For a “true SUV” I was hoping for more interior space. And their website doesn’t show any pictures to help things.
Another great video, Jack! Nice car with the exception of that grille (Cd - wot’s that?) and those wheels. And pop-out handles: cool until you have to replace them every few months, a solution again for a non-existent problem.
Like the camera door mirrors that are the same size as a conventional door mirror with a "You'd better sit down sir" warning when you visit the dealership to order a new one that was removed from your door by another motorist.
Great chat with Henry; that’s the first I’ve heard the predicted range mentioned, so good on you for getting that out of him! Would love to see what the Pear has to offer, but waiting until 2024 will be tough. Keep up the great work!
How fun! Great review, Jack. As a reservation holder, I am so excited for the Ocean. (I call myself a Fisk head.) Here are my TOP TEN FAVORITE THINGS I'm looking forward to in the Fisker Ocean. 10: Karaoke mode 9: Head's up display 8: Range 7: Vegan interior 6: Fish net floors and recycled bottles 5: Overall base cost ($37,500) 4: Solar roof 3: Infinite leasing plan 2: Powers your home in a blackout 1: The World’s Most Sustainable Vehicle
It's wild, David, they've said you can lease the car however long you'd like, a few months or nine years. Also, there'd be no penalty for extra mileage up to 30,000 miles per year. They call it the Fisker Flexee Lease.
I liked a lot the Karma, it was strikingly good looking in the flesh. Glad the company is still here (or is back !) , with another fairly (understatement ?) original car.
That's a sharp looking vehicle. I'm glad Fisker is making a serious push into the market. I want one, but may have to wait for the PEAR model to be related as I can't afford 68K for the high end OCEAN model. Not many middle class Americans can. But the PEAR seems like it will be in the correct range.
Fisker is going to be a major game-changer in the automobile industry. I’m addition to the Ocean they have multiple other cars lined up that have unique competitive advantages over the rest of the industry. I’m definitely looking forward to buying myself an Ocean next year.
Funny how stupid people are. Until there is mass production Fisker is not even real. And by paying magna for the manufacturing they make sure the profit margins stay low. They will burn through a whole lot of cash until they go bankrupt. Prototypes are easy. Production is hard and outsourcing production is expensive.
Fisker is doing something that I hoped more car manufacturers would be doing by now, it's the solar roofs. Yeah it doesn't improve the range that much, but while you're parked, it's charging. It only makes sense to have a solar roof.
Wow!!! That Fisker that starts at that price would be a hit in the U.S. Especially if it starts being built here as well to get the tax credit would be the most reasonably priced suv EV you can buy!!!!
Top of the range looks good. Not paying £60k for a fisker though. Put the solar opening roof in the £35k version and make the boot bigger or include a big froot and I am buying it to replace our model X.
Acknowledging the fact that you're looking at yet another SUV doesn't really make it less annoying. I actually don't understand why you've chosen this one. It's even more baffling as you're standing right next to the Renault 5 Concept, from the not-at-all overcrowded segment of small EV's. Now THAT'S something else, and interesting to me!
On the one hand I am glad that Fisker have teamed up with Magna to build the car. Magna know how and where to source parts and know how to configure a design so that they can build it efficiently. However, Magna are a niche manufacturer geared towards producing niche products in limited quantities for third party companies (Jaguar iPace, Aston Martin Rapide, Mercedes G wagon, etc). Magna are not cheap and so It is difficult to see how Fisker will ever generate enough profit for itself to invest in its own mass production capability.
If they can hit that price point and range this may be a winner. The only problem I see is that manufacturers always talk wltp range not real world. The two can be so far apart as to render talking wltp pointless in my view!
@@davidstuart4915 Possibly a boycott of the marque and model. Trouble is that EVs might not get sold if the true mileage per full charge ever got revealed ... With the "fairly brisk" performance available then it would be astonishing that said performance wasn't used at every opportunity. I mean you'd have to.
As a millennial, the features that appeal most are the roll-down rear tailgate window, and the roll-down D-Pillar windows. The height is ideal. The front end is not too “busy” I really like the driver instrument cluster (Tesla still uses the center screen for speedo, indicators, etc.) The solar roof is very cool. (We have a Sonata Hybrid with a solar roof, and it’s very satisfying to watch the battery charge on hot Texas days) I like the rotating center screen. If it tilts towards the driver, that would make me love it! (I have a Mk7.5 GTI, and I love the 5° angle. It makes the car feel like a cockpit, with the comfort of the driver in mind)
The screen is only useful if there are streaming services available or if you can connect your phone to it and stream that way. The extra windows are cool but wouldn’t influence my buying decisions.
Just saw on your Instagram that you're in Austria with the production car now. I can't wait for your review Jack. Hope you can turn the video around quickly!
Looks brilliant & how clever having Magna Steyr to build it like they do the Jaguar I Pace that is a fantastic car. I can’t wait to watch the U.K. test drive reviews and to actually know what size SUV the Ocean is equivalent to? Here’s hoping Fisker offer a competitive PCP option & it has every chance being designed & built in Europe!
Production will be in Austria, just registered my interest According to the site prices will be under £40000 as a starting point then you can custom your vehicle upwards with tech you want from what i have seen and read its a great car with the customer being able to have the vehicle delivered to their home and I read that mobile servicing is on the cards at your home but with allocated centers around the UK as well.
Really nice looking car. Looks like a Range Rover for people who don't have a stick up their arse. And yeah, Jack is a really good host. The knowledge, personality and passion makes Top Gear look awkward (not that they need any help) and The Grand Tour look very tired and forced (again, not that they need any help). I'm curious why the videos on this channel have such a low view count. I would expect each one to be getting hundreds of thousands of views. Does Fully Charged have another, main outlet for their productions?
I really like this car. It looks pretty cool, isn't slow, interior is modern..... But still about twice the average budget for buying a car. And where I live, there are 2 charging spots on the parking lot for about 200+ cars, and no option to have a private spot. Only place I would be able to charge it is at a gas station on my way to work, which makes a long trip a lot longer. (Or I could ask my boss for an extension cord and charge it out of the 3rd floor window :P) Too bad all the new cars are really cool on their own, but all the stuff around them still is troublesome. But hey, if you're reading this Henrik, hit me up with one and I'll write an extensive report about the car and if it's worth all the hassle ;)
maybe one day all these car companies will get their heads together and produce a cheap (less than 15k) car that isn't a city tank. Buying some super trick fully kitted SUV wouldn't give me range anxiety, it'd be electrical accessory fault anxiety! just how long will all those gadgets survive? not to mention the cost of the Fiskers 22" tyres on a heavy SUV! maybe i should add wallet anxiety to the list.
It looks like an Isuzu Axiom crossed with a Dodge Nitro. I wouldn't have thought those two would make a nice looking combo, but it really does feel fresh. I wonder if it will be able to compete at that price with GM and Honda's Ultium offerings coming out in 2023/2024, but it certainly looks like a contender if they manage to work out the logistics for selling and servicing vehicles from a startup.
Can't wait to see the Pear, hope he's not just blowing smoke about how different is is and we don't just get like an EV6 or something (very good car, but we already have that)

I hope for the UK market they include a Yorkshire Mode button to close all the windows and sunroof with a single push.
It rains here, alot.
.....and turn up the heating..!!
just had 10 glorious days in the Dales ;) - preceded by a few hundred mizzly or horizontal bullets during the winter!
Put a deposit on my Fisker Ocean way back in early 2020 and so glad I was on the waiting list so early, “it’s a beauty !”
The screen is large... but other than that it's pretty awesome!
Let's hope you can return to this when production ramps up.
That Renault prototype does look better though.
the 5 is too slow in concept to production....things may well have moved on by the time this on the street at the right price
Another great video, Jack!
Nice car with the exception of that grille (Cd - wot’s that?) and those wheels. And pop-out handles: cool until you have to replace them every few months, a solution again for a non-existent problem.
Like the camera door mirrors that are the same size as a conventional door mirror with a "You'd better sit down sir" warning when you visit the dealership to order a new one that was removed from your door by another motorist.
can't wait till they design a $5000 electric commuter that I can use daily.
Citroen says hold my beer, Ami(go)!
Great chat with Henry; that’s the first I’ve heard the predicted range mentioned, so good on you for getting that out of him! Would love to see what the Pear has to offer, but waiting until 2024 will be tough. Keep up the great work!
Really enjoyed chatting with him! A friendly chap with a clear vision
Really hope they succeed. Interior reminds me of my EV6 in some places.
Boy, can’t wait.
How fun! Great review, Jack. As a reservation holder, I am so excited for the Ocean. (I call myself a Fisk head.)
Here are my TOP TEN FAVORITE THINGS I'm looking forward to in the Fisker Ocean.
10: Karaoke mode
9: Head's up display
8: Range
7: Vegan interior
6: Fish net floors and recycled bottles
5: Overall base cost ($37,500)
4: Solar roof
3: Infinite leasing plan
2: Powers your home in a blackout
1: The World’s Most Sustainable Vehicle
infinite lease - do tell more :)
It's wild, David, they've said you can lease the car however long you'd like, a few months or nine years. Also, there'd be no penalty for extra mileage up to 30,000 miles per year. They call it the Fisker Flexee Lease.
@@RodneyCurtis sounds good, I am looking for short term Subscription type solutions, preferably incl street charging :)
I liked a lot the Karma, it was strikingly good looking in the flesh.
Glad the company is still here (or is back !) , with another fairly (understatement ?) original car.
So nice to have work in the early stages of this car project!
Real Buttons!
A big, functional touch screen... with real buttons!
Also, what a range for the price.
Definitely the car to beat in the next few years.
Explain why so many trucks and expensive gas guzzling SUVs are being bought then...most go from 60k 80k and more.
What’s wrong with the base model?
@@trance9158 I mean the average selling price of a new car is around 40k but most people aren’t buying new cars
@@chidorirasenganz it's just topped 47k currently. Yet the most sold car is the Ford F series truck which is a gas guzzling POS .
@@chidorirasenganz how many people buy a base model vehicle? The car dealerships almost never even have a base model on their lot.
Looks amazing. Wondering about test driving and servicing.
I clicked on this video for a glimpse at the Renault 5 :)
I understand entirely.
Production is hard and outsourcing production is expensive.
yes, they have lots of new renders of cars that will never be made to go along with all their previous renders of cars that were never made.
Just a little over a month until start of production! I have a firm build and can’t wait for mine to be delivered in February!
Fisker is doing something that I hoped more car manufacturers would be doing by now, it's the solar roofs. Yeah it doesn't improve the range that much, but while you're parked, it's charging. It only makes sense to have a solar roof.
Love the look of this, trying to figure out it's size, similar to Enyaq/Ioniq5? looks great for £35k
I didn't expect the Fisker Ocean to be this good. Can't wait to see their next cars, the future of Fisker seem really exiting!
Fisker will always be dependent on Magna. There is no future for them.
@@whynotstartusingyourbrain8726 "no future" .. well that agrees with ProvencalG's "really exiting".
Definitely excited for mine!
Great to see that Fisker has still something to give. Great head.
what's it like offroad?
In the voice of Jeremy Clarkson:
"It's a Kia Niro."
Yes, the Standard needs sorting!
Maybe a fine (a la dieselgate) if when indi tested, they fail to achieve published figure
Reserved my Ocean 2 years ago! Excited about their FLEXEE lease option!
As a millennial, the features that appeal most are the roll-down rear tailgate window, and the roll-down D-Pillar windows.
The height is ideal.
The front end is not too “busy”
I really like the driver instrument cluster (Tesla still uses the center screen for speedo, indicators, etc.)
The solar roof is very cool.
(We have a Sonata Hybrid with a solar roof, and it’s very satisfying to watch the battery charge on hot Texas days)
I like the rotating center screen.
Renault 5 concept looked good, any chance of more details?
Covered it a little in my
Megane E-Tech first look last year, have a flip through the archives!
Breathtakingly beautiful design 😍❤️ love all the windows are retractable (except windshield) lol
"Make people feel good about driving their vehicles again"
Is that really a thing?!?! I love driving my truck!
I just reserved one of these last night and then I wake up to this video! Talk about good timing, excited to see Jack’s take!
Congrats on your preorder! Looks like a good shout to me
The LFP version for £35k is interesting, especially when you consider the standard rwd model 3 is ~£50k now
Will this have the catching on fire feature that the other Fisker cars have?
Production will be in Austria, just registered my interest According to the site prices will be under £40000 as a starting point then you can custom your vehicle upwards with tech you want from what i have seen and read its a great car with the customer being able to have the vehicle delivered to their home and I read that mobile servicing is on the cards at your home but with allocated centers around the UK as well.
I'm so impressed by this vehicle. it reminds me of Range Rover which I love. The range is perfect on the Ultra and Extreme.
This guy is actually using his head while making cars, exciting! 👏
Ready to trade in my model 3 for this!
don't hold your breath...
We gonna rock on to, Electric Avenue, and then we take it higher.
I got excited that this would fullscreen to my ultrawide for a sec
I really like this car. It looks pretty cool, isn't slow, interior is modern.....
But still about twice the average budget for buying a car. And where I live, there are 2 charging spots on the parking lot for about 200+ cars, and no option to have a private spot. Only place I would be able to charge it is at a gas station on my way to work, which makes a long trip a lot longer. (Or I could ask my boss for an extension cord and charge it out of the 3rd floor window :P)
Too bad all the new cars are really cool on their own, but all the stuff around them still is troublesome.
But hey, if you're reading this Henrik, hit me up with one and I'll write an extensive report about the car and if it's worth all the hassle ;)
nice . ideal for driving the great ocean road here in Australia.
strange 3 wheel thing, thought you meant the new Toyota.
.keep smiling everyone
Looks nice. I wonder what the after sales support will be like?
maybe one day all these car companies will get their heads together and produce a cheap (less than 15k) car that isn't a city tank.
My Ocean was ordered February 14th, get building Fisker, get building….
Dont worry about the fisker, let us see the Renault 5!
Can't wait to see the Pear, hope he's not just blowing smoke about how different is is and we don't just get like an EV6 or something (very good car, but we already have that)
