My theory is, you can never have enough bonsai pots. It’s an addictive habit - especially trawling through auction sites looking for older and no longer appreciated bonsai pots.
My problem is that although I usually search for a pot to suit a particular bonsai, I often find a bonsai pot that I fall in love with and purchase it on its own merits. Then I have the frustration of creating a tree that suits it. 😊
That is sort of a luxury problem... but I also happened to have too many pots sometimes and not the right one for a special tree. So I sold a few pots that had not been used for many years and bought the perfect one for the tree that needed it.
questions.. when you change pots for exhibition into a fancy pot. do you wire it in? and then unwire it when you get home or do you leave it in for a while.
Yes, it is always important to secure the tree in the pot! Think of the transport to the exhibition venue and carrying the trees into the building and to the photo studio, to its place in the exhibition room etc., it really mustn't fall out of the pot. It depends on the time of the year if I take the tree out of the show pot soon after coming back home or if I leave it in the pot until the season is good for repotting it again.
In what way does the size of the pot affect the growth of the tree? If I planted a small shoot in a small pot vs in a bigger pot, would it grow differently?
How do you address the styling of those trees that identify as binary? You might be guilty of Transtreephobia! Just joking! Very interesting and informative presentation!
Probably the best video I've seen on bonsai and pot combination and what a fantastic collection this lady has. WOW!

@@heikevangunst3878 Me too, but sometimes I pot a tree in the "wrong" pot just because I like the pot so much and I want to use it. 💚
Da sind schon wirklich schöne Bäumchen und auch Schalen zu sehen. Sehr lehrreiches Video. 😊

What species is that deciduous tree whose pot Ms. Gunst is pointing to at 2:31?
It looks like an old Wisteria
It is a Wisteria floribunda, developed from raw material dug up in a garden in 2009.

Question: are herbs feminine or masculin? (I have rosemary and sage, with deadwood)
In what way does the size of the pot affect the growth of the tree? If I planted a small shoot in a small pot vs in a bigger pot, would it grow differently?
Yes, more room to grow usually means faster growth.
Her mind started to skip when she brought up masculinity 😂 great info great video
