@@bossfan49 Just like you, I never knew this song was by 38 Special. I can't even count the number of times that I sat and enjoyed this song, while apparently never hearing who the artist was.
@@dennis2966 Always heard it on pop/soft rock/AC stations...not where you expect to hear .38 Special. Total curveball... like Alice Cooper's "You and Me", or Heart's "Dreamboat Annie"..that i mistook for Anne Murray when I was younger. 😀
My favorite moments: at 2:41 when Angela realizes the song is about him sleeping with someone else, and at 3:37 where he simply explains "she was willing".
38 Special's "If I'd Been The One" (which was released in late 1983) is one of their most underrated and most enjoyable songs which is never played anymore. It's a more up-tempo song with a great video. I think you would like that one Angela besides other songs from them such as "Caught Up In You" but "If I'd Been The One" is my favorite. 38 Special is awesome and very underrated. The young woman who was in the "If I'd Been The One" video is Bruce Springsteen's ex wife Julianne Phillips.
The ironic part is this was their biggest hit and only number one with a completely different male singer who was only there for two albums and this song is nothing like their traditional much loved early 80s southern rock but they can’t exactly ignore this number one hit when they play live so they have to get someone to sing this, who is so different than their lead singer who put them on the map.
This is one of my favorite songs from them. A bit different from their usual but lovely nonetheless. 38 special holds my 🖤. Caught up in you, being my anthem.
I got a kick out of your expressions as the song went on, I knew what you were thinking as he sang the lyrics! I always thought it was a pretty song myself. And who the hell would cheat on you?!? I'm sorry you had to experience that. Great reaction as always Angela! Stay rocking! :)
I absolutely LOVE this SONG, the singer REMINDS ❤️ ME so much of MY VERY SPECIAL FRIEND! Its truly scary! Also i really LIKE the young woman WHOSE rating the music! She is VERY KIND/CARING human being i can tell! Also amen amen to OUR TRULY wonderful and amazing God! I WILL always praise God 😇 daily FOREVER! And all please pray EXTRA prayers for ISRAEL 😇🥰🕊️ and the USA OTHER COUNTRIES and ALL government leaders! Much 💕 and 🙏 to this wonderful girl and her AWESOME 😎 channel and ALL human beings!❤❤❤
What is funny, I saw an interview with the guitar player and he brought the song to the group and asked what they thought and the lead singer said pretty much said "the guy sounds like an asshole" . I've always liked this song even though I cringe a little. "Sad Eyes" by Robert John has the same effect on me
Loved the facial expression as soon as she realized it wasn't simply about a guy that was just pining for his ex after getting dumped...that there was a more sinister backstory.
I had forgotten about this song! My favorite one by them is Hold On Loosely! They are, or were a Country Pop Rock Band! I don't know if they're still together! You made some really valid points! I don't know how I would react being on either side of this predicament! It is a tough nut to crack!
This is a ballard from them but they are a rock band there are so many hits from them here's a few..."Caught up in You", "Hold on loosely", "If I'd been the One", "Back where You belong", "Rockin into the Night", "Fantasy Girl", "Back to Paradise" and there are more I guarantee any of those listed you will love.
The singers from the 70s and 80s . Where so real poet. Just listen to the words of most of the songs back then . Hell even the 50s and 60s. These people touch ur soul with these songs . 🎉 Man I even learn how to mack listening to these songs getting my ass into trouble a few times meet a few fruit of the loons girls . Lol memories lol . Riff was great . Just enjoy the song. Remember most guys want they cakes and eat it too. You should listen too Toto I,ll be over you next...
I anticipated your response to this song! And I appreciated it. LOL I actually reacted similarly. I love the song from a musical and vocal aspect. But I hated what he was admitting to!
Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd's little brother Donnie Van Zant was a co-founder of 38 Special. A lot of their music has hints of Lynyrd Skynyrd in them. I could tell that you were having a very tough time with this one. All I can say is that I am sorry for your pain. Just know and understand that what other people did, was no reflection on you. That was their moral flaw. You are never responsible for anyone else's actions even if it hurt to the point that you feel that way.
I've been listening to this song since it came out, and it's always been one of my favorite rock ballads, but I've never paid attention to the actual lyrics til you're reaction. Thanks for ruining it for me! Haha. I'm just gonna go on pretending the problematic lyrics are na, na, na, na, please don't leave me now... This song is great to listen to when you're driving or relaxing, and with these types of songs the melody and music enrapture you and the only time you pay attention to the lyrics is when they get to the chorus. At least that's what this song is to me.
I'm glad you feel the same way I do this is one of my favorite songs but the lyrics are bad but the music so nice when my daughter discovered what it said she's like how could you listen to this song I'm like but I love the music so she shared your reactions to me and now I don't feel so bad cause someone else feels the way I do😁
Really the whole song is an apology but the one line sums it up simply enough in my opinion: “She was willing, and that’s all there is to say.” [Mic drop, end of discussion.]
a guy this time, but could be anyone hurted bad....was my best friend and I song after breakup, mine first, he laughed, then happened to him later, wanting my CD, Tour de Force, for song......I OUGHTA LET GO
Ah some 38sp. Haven't heard in a while but they put out some good stuff. Thanks for this reaction. Hey how about some Queen and Freddie Mercury? "A Kind of Magic" is wonderful but another one I haven't heard in a while.
lead singer Don Barnes was gone that album, so Max Carl , known as a singer in other bands. Don came back , most others started leaving, like many 80s bands, only 1 or 2 original ones still in concerts. Max is good, several others songs in album ROCK & ROLL STRATEGY, reccomend song COMIN' DOWN TONIGHT, an upper faster song, that makes you sing later!
I think much of the way a person reacts to the lyrics in this song depends on two things: whether they're male or female; and whether they were the person cheated on, or the person who cheated. Great ballad, regardless.
hi Angela , I think you would like Stevie Nicks , Has anyone ever written anything for you , the storytellers version . She explains why she wrote it , check it out
If it’s just a one night stand then you have to understand men cheat because it’s like recreation. Just like if they went and did something you didn’t like like playing football or something. If it isn’t personal or emotional then you have to consider it recreational. Separate physicality from feelings. The guy has suffered enough obviously. It’s just a matter of giving into temptation but the reason he doesn’t break up with you is because it doesn’t mean he doesn’t love you or nothing about you it just means he was tempted.
I have been cheated on, unfortunately. And I have forgiven. I have even found a way to some kind of friendship. But I could not take her back. Not spite, or even hurt anymore. But that magical thing, that intangible mix of attraction, companionship, respect... that mix that was our love, that is what she broke. And without that, there really isn't anything to go back to.
I never knew this was .38 Special. Doesn't sound at all like their other hits. I've only heard it played on soft rock stations, while their other stuff is featured on classic rock stations.
Just found your channel. I love it! Like me, you seem to like Fleetwood Mac and especially Stevie Nicks. I will recommend one from each as a suggestion for a reaction video. For Fleetwood Mac I would recommend "The Chain" (ua-cam.com/video/JDG2m5hN1vo/v-deo.html). This is the music only version. The live version is just not as good, in my humble but accurate opinion. For Stevie Nicks I recommend her duet with Tom Petty called "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" (ua-cam.com/video/H5i7j0VhEHw/v-deo.html). It's vintage Stevie with some great Tom Petty harmonies. If you liked "Edge of Seventeen" you will love this song as well. Thanks for the channel. It's really good.
@@donaldgilbreath4200 You are right. Those Van Zant boys were everywhere. Ronnie oldest, lead singer of LS then after death Donnie took lead.
