    Welcome back to our channel! Today, we have a special project: restoring a vintage Movado watch in full gold. This elegant timepiece has seen better days, but we’re going to bring it back to life. Let’s get started!
    First, let’s take a close look at the watch. We’ll inspect the case, dial, hands, and movement. The case shows signs of wear and scratches, the dial has aged, and the movement needs servicing. We’ll document all the issues before we begin the restoration process.
    Carefully, we’ll start disassembling the watch. Using precision tools, we’ll remove the case back, movement, dial, hands, and crystal. It’s important to keep all parts organized and safe.
    Next, we’ll clean all the components. We’ll use a ultrasonic cleaner for the movement parts and a gentle solution for the dial and hands. The gold case and bracelet will be cleaned using a special gold-safe cleaner.
    Once cleaned, we’ll polish the gold case. Using a compound designed for gold, we’ll carefully remove scratches and restore the shine. This step requires patience to avoid over-polishing.
    Now, we’ll service the movement. We’ll disassemble it, clean each component, replace any worn parts, and reassemble it. Proper lubrication is essential for the movement to run smoothly.
    With the movement serviced, we’ll start reassembling the watch. We’ll place the dial and hands back on the movement, install the movement into the case, and secure the case back. Ensuring everything fits perfectly is crucial.
    Finally, we’ll give the watch one last polish and inspect it thoroughly. We’ll check the timekeeping accuracy and ensure the watch is functioning correctly. The restored watch should look as close to new as possible.
    And there you have it, a beautifully restored vintage Movado watch in full gold! We hope you enjoyed watching this restoration process. If you did, please give this video a thumbs up and subscribe for more watch restorations. Thanks for watching!

    I am fortunate to own a gold Movado cal.125 in vg condition, one of the first vintage watches that I bought.

    As always: thank you for sharing this and great work 👏👍👌! Did not know Movado was such a quality brand as their last models were and looked rather cheap, so no one ever paid any attention to them here in Switzerland from the 80s onwards.

      They did a lot of great watches. They worked as well with Zenith and they have some great chrono with the El Primero and some with their in house caliber

    Lovely job! I also love Movado. I’ve just bought one but disappointingly it’s got a very broken balance spring and staff and pallet fork😟. By any chance do you have these spares for a 470 caliber you would sell? I’m reaching out to people I know.
    Also what polishing accessory did you use in your dremel power tool?

    • @FrenchWatchCollector
      @FrenchWatchCollector  3 місяці тому

      Sorry but I don't have any pats on a 470. I have a 260 parts. The polishing accessory is Eve Flex

    Can you tell me when are you using oil or moebius grease to lubricate the pallet fork ? I heard t depends on the speed of the movement ?

    • @FrenchWatchCollector
      @FrenchWatchCollector  3 місяці тому

      Yes epecially for the higher beat caliber you need to use the grease 9415

    • @mercuriall2810
      @mercuriall2810 3 місяці тому +1

      The 9415 grease was originally designed and marketed for use in high beat movements, and it’s important to use it when servicing them.
      941 oil simply won’t remain in place if used on high beat movements.
      It turns out that 9415 also works extremely well in slower beat movements, too.
      Moebius now states that it is suitable for all Swiss lever escapements, regardless of beat rate.
      So you can use 9415 for all pallet jewels.
      9415 also works well for lubricating cylinder escapements, it is very versatile.
      Moebius 941 should only be used on slower beat movements (21,600 or less).
      If you have Moebius 941 already, then use it on slower beat movements.
      If you haven’t bought either product yet, I recommend you just buy some 9415 and use it exclusively for escapement lubrication.
