Spelled 친구 wrong too. Haha oh well.

@som Slovaak The word nice does not exist, everybody has more negatives than positives.
som Slovaak , I have, I am Japanese I go quite often actually its just nice to see people posting about it too.
som Slovaak , I can only read hiragana and a bit of katakana but I do understand the spoken language well because I speak more then I read when I visit obviously.

Well not really. Chinese characters came from China but the grammar and construction is completely different. Japanese and Korean however are so close there is no way they don’t share the same origin.
They are from the same origin, but that doesn't mean they are used the same way. Chinese is its own language and Japanese is another.

I love that you did it in a natural way rather than faking a situation.
I think it seems more natural because he can't start in English unlike the other he starts in English and switches to Chinese. no one would understand him if he started in English lol.
@@alessandraratto7194 Nah, it's just that the others are cringy after a while with their fake start in english to suddenly switch to chinese or whatever
The shade lol. But anyway this guy is in Japan. When Xiaoma (who everyone is probably talking about) is in New York; which last time I checked is in America where the language is English. So it makes sense that he starts in English then transitions to Chinese...
@@adrian102 Don't try this BS. He goes to chinatown, has like half the convo in english then switches to chinese to "baffle them" and make cringe titles and videos. You damn know it ain't natural

@@jayem7208 WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU SAY ABOUT MY MOM?
*Says Las Vegas in an accent* "how is your Japanese so good?!"
@Gail Breslin as a Japanese language student, I can confirm this is right
For words that Japanese language itself does not have the Japanese words for, or names in different language, they use katakana letters to make up the words that sound the closest to the original word in its language. In this example, Las Vegas. In Japanese they don't have 'L' n 'V' letters but the closest they have are 'R' n 'B'. So Las Vegas is written and pronounced as ラスベガス (rasu begasu) in Japanese.

I respect people who can speak multiple languages
Me too bruh
I speak two languages right now which is Filipino and English but sooner or later I'd be speaking Japanese, so let's keep this up guys!
I always ask this but, does it count as two languages if you are counting your native language as well? I barely say I speak two languages, because sometimes people say that doesnt count, if it does then I speak English and Spanish (native). I have been debating whether to learn Portugese (I have a friend there so I can visit whenever we have time), Japanese (was in a course for 3 months but it was closed, about 10 years ago and then had no time and forgot about it completely) or Chinese (my mom keeps pressuring me to choose it because 'economical and business purposes') although it would be cool but I find Chinese to be the most difficult one of the three. Also had German as an extra option. But I dont fucking know!
*_I'm Filipino and I speak Filipino, English and Japanese._*

He's nihon go jouzu'ed by the japanese.
"Nihongo jouzu desu ne"
Basically translates into
"Mada mada"
Yeah, but in this case, that was the Japanese guy's quick polite reaction. This guy really is nihongo jouzu.
this made me laugh so hard
Jouzu'ed lmao
I wanna laugh too. What does jouzu mean?
Dude, your Japanese is definitely the best of any foreigner I've heard! I've been in Japan over 10 years, nobody comes close to you.
How to get praise by Japanese in Japan. "Watashi wa ___ desu"
Japanese people
"Nihongo jozu"
regardless of it being good or not ppl in Japan do this to be polite to another person
Yeah!!! This is why i love their culture of polite.
You know you’ve gotten good at speaking Japanese when they start critiquing your skills instead of praising you
It can be really wonderful when a stranger shows you kindness
No joke I once just texted "konbanwa" which means "good evening" in Japanese and she sent me a 1 minute voice message praising my Japanese skills. "Waaaaaau, yoa japaneees is rearry rearry guddo!" and so on.
However, I think talking to Japanese is WAY more fun than writing with them.
Xiaomanyc also randomly popped up in my recommendations. I ended up subbing. What he does is like talking in English first "pretending" he doesn't know chinese, and then suddenly starts speaking chinese. It's funny but I think your personality is funnier lol
It'd be hard for him to be understood in Japan when he speaks english. It'd be much more applicable to speak to a Japanese person in a foreign country
I found it rude, but I guess is doing it in NY.. I absolutely hate it when foreigners do it in that persons country.

Dude 3:30 just brought a smile to my face. I think it's amazing when you can communicate so well that the other person just warms up to you and god I just think you're so damn cool! Do not give up. I have been learning casually for over 20 years and still not super fluent in it. I have the right accents however still not fluent. I wouldn't call it perfect.
@i kanzaki Well, nobody is perfect in this world, e.g. even native speakers of Japanese make mistakes as usual as everybody else‘s too.
I've lived in Japan for a while and learning Japanese is something I feel is necessary to have a good life here, alot of my foreign friends know a good level of Japanese to survive! I love this video as there is no better feeling when you can have a fun, natural conversation with natives.

Also, a high quality microphone will lead you to UA-cam fame in no time. You got everything else covered down to the personality. Keep up the incredible work. Subbed!
But the trick is that you're supposed to speak in English first (pretend like you don't speak Japanese), and then all of a sudden speak in Japanese. That's you surprise them and that's how Xiaoma does his videos.
I like this video better though. Why would you have to surprise us first?
I don't quite get it. It sounds a bit self-indulgent. Even if it's just a harmless joke, poking fun at people like that is not funny.
On the other hand the guy in this video looks like he's genuinely happy meeting and talking to people. That's the way it should be. I'm gonna hit "like" now!
@@lurkmerchant If you watch @Xiaomanyc 's videos of him surprising Chinese people in Chinatown by speaking Chinese, you would understand why.
It's kinda weird that japanese are not that surprised/amused when foreigner speak their language as much as chinese in xiaoma's video.
I notice that too. This prove that chinese is more polite?
I'm jk.
I think all those stall workers are working long hours and don't have time to be surprise.
It helps that he approached the conversations in a natural way. I like xiaoma's videos, but he is incredibly guilty of clickbaiting even doing basically the IRL equivalent. Every time he'll start interactions by playing dumb and half way into the conversation he switches to fluent. It's a good way to get good thumbnail shots, but very unfair to the people he talks to.
I guess more western people learn japanese instead of chinese because of anime :D
Actually Japanese kind of expect you to speak Japanese in much of Japan. It's weird but yeah
IMO it's even better bc they didn't show they assumed you didn't speak the language. I think being treated as a common customer is better than pleasing your ego by seeing surprised faces, again IMO.
